That *was* the January Window
Tim Southampton Rover replied to Herbie6590's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
It will be interesting to know whether he wants to actually go to Palace or whether he's basically being told to go by the club. Someone quickly tell him what it's really like and that it isn't anything like AFC Richmond. -

I'm pleased he's getting an opportunity in the Premier League but what a boring move. -

Great to see Tom Atcheson come on again last night. Bit nervy but good experience for him! -

How long is Pickering out for again? That left side definitely needs him. -

I can think of many fan favorite's from Rovers who have left slightly bitter and not even bothered with saying goodbye. It's a credit to James and his family that he's come across as a really top guy throughout his short time at the club. The backroom staff all seem to really like him too. I'm sure whatever he goes onto do in football, us Rovers fans will keep an eye out for him as well. -

I think it's great that we drew Wrexham considering how popular they've become in recent years. I've enjoyed their TV show (only seen season 1 so far) and it's great that their main core fan base are getting rewarded with owners that seem to be giving a lot back to the club and community while coming across as respectful while doing so. They're owners we would all love to have engage with us fans - I mean, at this point I'd take our owners just flipping their middle fingers at us just so we can see any communication! More importantly, I also see it as a good opportunity for us to go through to the next round and to make some memories and much needed money that could help towards funding another non-scoring striker on deadline day 😂 I am hoping it's a great game, good atmosphere, and an easy win. Let's make sure we feature on an episode with us looking like the Holly(e)wood stars. -

I am probably definitely in the minority here but I still think if Gallagher got fit (I know I know) and was just told to focus purely on being the number 9 striker and do NOTHING else but be a selfish p***k in front of goal then I think he could still turn it around. I'd even tell him to come into training and just kung-fu kick Doris the tea lady on a daily basis just to lose the nice tag he has. I think the issue is that we need to recruit a few players who are willing to flip out and be more aggressive in the changing room. We have a bunch of really nice guys representing the club. As much as I love the group we have, you need someone to get stuck into them on the pitch. We don't have that and it shows when the heads drop. -

If they were all suddenly transparent, in particular historical transfers and wages, then I'm sure a lot of clubs might get exposed for dodgy dealings 😂 I think the MLS show their salaries due to various capping rules and regulations. I remember seeing one good player for Seattle Sounders on less than me a year and I felt very sorry for him considering he was one of the better players at the time. -

I always want former Rovers players to do well, especially when they're liked by the supporters, but you can't help but think this move mirrored Connor Mahoney and Callum Wright's moves to the Premier League. Tottenham were never going to play him, we all saw it, but unfortunately it's hard to turn down a move to the Premier League to stay at a club like ours. The annoying thing is that had he stayed with us for another couple of seasons, he would have gained good valuable match experience and would have moved to the Premier League anyway and most likely to play each week there. Now he will bounce around the teams in the Championship on loan (if he does well) until he's sold on when he no longer qualifies as a youngster when Tottenham enter what players need to be registered to play. -
Connor O'Riordan

It sounds like he wasn't originally going to go back but unfortunately due to injuries he's being recalled. It's hard to criticise for not having a ready replacement instantly available to buy. I'm also pleased to see that we're trying to find a way to structure the 500k deal for a unproven player to ensure our finances aren't going to bite us in the backside in the future, especially when we're constantly having one eye on the FFP line. If we do look for another young Premier League player on loan then fortunately we've done well in the past when signing young Premier League kids with hardly any experience. Harwood-Bellis, Adarabioyo, Van Hecke, and now James Hill to add to the list of players who have learned a lot here and done well. -
I think it's a mixture of things. 1) He's highly regarded. 2) It shows him and others that there is a progression from youth to first team. 3) Playing in the first team helps with any future compensation issue if a big team comes in. 4) It is a message to the board that we are desperate for players.

If they need him to get a confidence boost then surely we should be making a cheeky enquiry. He knows the club, the style of play, and will play every week. Obviously, it's tough competing against Premier League teams but worth a shot. Gregg could always throw in a Duolingo 'Learn Spanish' subscription to sweeten the deal. -
I think he's a bit out of his depth but I also don't think I'm that surprised. He wasn't ready when he came to the club and I think JDT and co. wanted him to be 2nd choice for the season while he learned how to be a better goalkeeper. Unfortunately, Pears, despite looking fairly solid at times, hit a bad run of form, many fans were crying out for Wahlstedt, and due to Pears' injury he's been thrown into the deep end too early. It isn't that fair to criticise a player who is making mistakes that an inexperienced goalkeeper from a lower level would make. He is clearly trying but he just isn't ready and we have no one to step in who has that experience. I expect Pears will be recalled as early as possible and will remain our number 1 until the end of the season.

You can be overjoyed and not kiss someone on the lips. From what's reported, he's had a lot of allegations against him throughout the years. -
Awful news. RIP.

What's good is that it gives us another opportunity to put out a similar team. Great experience for our youngsters and those on the cusp of the first team.

Jon Dahl Tomasson - no longer Sweden coach
Tim Southampton Rover replied to Tom's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Not 100% sure but Malmo's Sporting Director said "Jon has announced that he wants to leave MFF and after discussions we have decided by mutual agreement to part ways.". There may have been a 2yr contract with an option to extend or maybe he left before the end of his contract if it was decided by mutual agreement.
