  1. Crikey, bad that. With five subs I’d even be tempted to put Dack, Gallagher and Hedges on for Szmodics, Vale and Dolan.
  2. After a decent enough 20/21 where he scored a few and looked much improved compared to his first two years (which I think is often forgotten...) - and after playing for Chile and scoring at the Copa America? I don't think so. The signs were there that he'd turned a corner (though of course nobody thought he'd be on 20 goals by Christmas last season). I don't think it would have taken 20k+ a week then. Even Gallagher's contract renewal in January this year was greeted in general by a shrug of the shoulders and was only news for a couple of days. And Brereton even last summer was more highly thought of than Gallagher. As people always say though, it doesn't matter whether a messageboard would have gone into meltdown or not, the club needs to do what it feels is best and protect what it considers to be assets. Which is what people happy with Gallagher's renewal said.
  3. No doubt they’re winning the passing again though.
  4. Do you think? I'd be very surprised if he left now. There doesn't seem to be much concrete interest in him. I bet some are monitoring but would prefer to wait until January at a knock-off price or free next summer (which would be a nightmare for us...).
  5. I think he'd dropped the odd clanger in the season before last too hadn't he - Reading at home was it after a few seconds, when he wandered to the side of the penalty area? I can remember a lot of people not being confident when he had to step in for Kaminski for a bit last season, and that was before the Wigan game. Granted he did okay and made a couple of saves at Bournemouth. If he does play tonight though and can't get through a home game v Hartlepool without making a mistake or looking like a bag of nerves, then he'll probably never be an able deputy for us.
  6. Yeah, he missed a couple of sitters here and got worse towards the end of his loan (probably once he'd figured out Kean was a conman) but I remember being impressed with his overall play at first. Could see there was something there. He's done well to get a move like that at 34 though.
  7. Most of the laughable terms that have been mentioned in this thread I do know what they’re referring to, or I can work it out……this though, I’ve no idea? ‘Pre-shot expected goals’??
  8. We had a run of 9 clean sheets in 11 games last winter, let's not pretend Lenihan was anything other than a good CB for us.
  9. Don't think he made his debut until Big Sam left and he who shall not be named took over.
  10. Buckley really is a lovely player to watch. Body feints, first touches that create space for himself and take opposition players out of the game, outside of the foot passes, nice passes through the lines. Proper footballer.
  11. Not even sure about the better quality team mates, Everton's squad is looking poor.
  12. That's so accurate. "Win your home games, draw your away games" will probably get trotted out by someone somewhere too - as if a team is going to go through a 46 game season doing exactly that.
  13. Definitely, he was solid, in fact him and Hanley were a very good pairing for this league.
  14. The money Liverpool have made over the years from selling the likes of Ibe, Solanke, Brewster and now Williams is crazy.
  15. Pivotal night in Jansen’s career too. In his book he said that Souness told him before this game that he was in the World Cup squad. Went out buzzing and scored, in front of Sven. Unfortunately we all know what happened next…. 😞
  16. If they hadn’t stopped producing them, not one person would have suggested getting rid of them as a way of saving a few quid. The earlier posts in the thread are bang on re. the laziness, cba attitude and wanting an operation that’s as small time as possible.
  17. I rewatched the 2000/01 season review recently and he actually bagged a surprising amount at the start of that season. But then Bent and Hughes came in and, according to transfermarkt, Blake barely made another matchday squad the rest of the season (not sure if he was injured or something or just not picked at all for months).
  18. With 5 in 17 in the Premier League and albeit less impressively 8 in 37 in the Championship, Ward was a goal machine compared to Brown’s 0 in 41 for us. He was beyond awful, Brown.
  19. Magloire is 24 in a few months, can't see him ever being good enough. For his own career he needs to leave and start playing some football.
  20. How many of our current players are nailed on good enough to play in the Premier League? Barely any as it stands. Shall we get rid of them all for free too? We’re not currently in need of Premier League standard players.
  21. End of the 19-20 season had a few! Other than that though, could well be...
  22. I don't think he did anywhere near as bad as that, they came 6th in the last full season before his appointment (19/20 was abandoned) and there's far more competition than in Scotland where there's a set top two. Looking at the replies to Kompany's tweet about leaving Anderlecht, their fans were thanking him and were sorry to see him go. But yep, hope it goes horribly for him at Burnley of course!
  23. Indeed. Clutching at the biggest of straws but Nyambe liked Rovers' Instagram post announcing JDT so maybe he's impressed with the appointment and considering staying. Would be a huge boost. Van Hecke liked another one about JDT but that's probably dreamland stuff.....
