  1. The food and drink being poor is bad enough but who in god’s name thought it’d be a good idea to get rid of the Rovers memorabilia? Why would it even cross your mind to do that? Once that stuff is up, it should stay up, no brainer. I haven’t actually been in since the Flitcroft and Jansen event in 2010 (!) but you can tell from pictures that it now just looks….well ‘tatty’ is the correct word!
  2. Is it Ray Stubbs that narrates those early 90s season reviews? Sounds like him. I ordered some of them fairly recently from here for really cheap - http://footydvd.co.uk . The site keeps going offline every now and then so just check but he’s back in business as of this month. Search ‘Blackburn Rovers’ in the top right search bar and the season reviews will come up from the 90s and 00/01. Great to have them. If you go to ‘Matches’ then ‘all clubs’ and find Rovers there are plenty of full 90 minute games to buy too. As for books a while back somebody lent me a sort of diary of the title winning season that Shearer kept and then released. Anybody else had or read that? I’ve barely ever heard it mentioned so get the impression it’s pretty obscure..
  3. I actually think if he left then they'd change their tune pretty quickly ("it hurts but it was the right time for him to go", something along those lines) which of course would only become their opinion upon hearing of his departure. Then they'd just forget about him and move on to getting behind the next guy. A lot of the most ardent support for Mowbray I think comes from people, especially some of what you read on social media, who just believe that you're a better fan if you don't criticise or complain about anything at the club. Odd way of thinking but that's the impression I get.
  4. Jansen at 1:11 here, great leap and header. Nobody was getting in Hughesy's way at 2:39 either. Great video to watch in full to be honest.
  5. Gestede at 35 seconds in the below. Not even a half chance really.
  6. Considering the 19 point gap I'm not sure Fulham's results matter. We're closer to 19th.
  7. It'll be at least another year or two I think before Newcastle move on from Howe. And even then he'd probably get another PL job if he's done well at Newcastle, which he's doing so far.
  8. 5-0 now, crikey. Still don't think Everton will go down but might be a closer call than I thought....
  9. Spot on, 1-0 up in a crucial game last Saturday and half the times I looked at the scoreboard to check how long was left there was some garbage up there instead. Daft.
  10. That's extremely random. I had wondered whether his absence from the game over the past few years was because he didn't want to drop down to Championship level.....then he rocks up in the bottom half of League Two. Sure he could have done a lot better than that. Wish him well anyway, I'll always stick up for Hughesy after the job he did here.
  11. ‘As things stand’ he said though, throws in an element of doubt. Please don’t be off, COYB
  12. Dortmund possibly. Bodo/Glimt's results so far this season though and last night suggest they're simply a much better team than Celtic, would be very surprised if they turned it around.
  13. Could that joker on the tannoy stop announcing the attendances please? Making it sound like an attendance of 13k is some kind of achievement. Just put it up on the scoreboard.
  14. Which are the two in La Liga? Madrid and presumably reigning champions Atletico? But then they're way down in 5th this year. Sevilla and Betis in the top 4 is also good to see. Italy's got the best title race out of the top leagues and Juve - presumably one of your two - were miles away last year. Bundesliga correct. Ligue Un too (Lille winning last season was great, but an anomaly).
  15. There have been some poor sides at Ewood this season but Swansea stand out with their daft 'play it out from the back at all costs' approach. That was on the opening day and we won 2-1 (we should have had more), but if we'd have faced them like that in November or December we'd have absolutely thumped them with the form we were in then. Haven't seen Swansea since that game so not sure if they're any better now but their league position, with mainly only the stragglers below them, wouldn't suggest so. Have to be going there to win this one.
  16. I’ve always wondered why he begins every word with a capital letter. Looks odd and must make it unnecessarily hard work when typing too….
  17. Take that. 9 clean sheets in 11 is it? That's superb and our defence alone should keep us up there. Though we can't afford to have games where we have that 11 that ended the game or anything close to it....
  18. They’ve been terrible for ages West Brom, even in beating Peterborough their goals came very late on. Barely won any apart from that for ages. Unless something changes there, eg Ismael leaving, we should definitely finish above them.
  19. One of my favourite accounts that I follow, definitely. Great content all round. Also enjoy Adam Hurrey (@FootballCliches) and Duncan Alexander (@oilysailor) but yep, the account you mention is brilliant.
  20. I really don’t think ‘he almost went to Leeds’, as she’s claiming. There’d have been mention of that here at some point if so, but there’s been nothing of the sort. I get the impression that in Chile they just like linking him with transfers.
  21. If Football Manager is anything to go by (and it usually is), you register 25 players for the Premier League but youngsters aged 20 (or 21 - one of the two) or under don’t have to be registered and can just play whenever. You can register some if you like, if they help with meeting the home-grown quota or anything similar, but yeah they don’t need to be. Didn’t Leeds have a 15 year old on the bench against Arsenal a few weeks ago? There’s no way he would have been on any registration list they submitted back in the summer.
  22. Ferguson long-term would surely be a disaster, if they had him as caretaker until the end of the season then I’m sure he’d do just about okay and like last time after Silva left he’d probably get an instant reaction and pick up some results, as many caretakers do, through being a different voice if nothing else. Long-term though I just don’t see him as managerial material and, while I’m sure cliches such as ‘he knows the club’ and ‘he just gets it’ would get wheeled out, let’s not forget he’s been on the coaching staff and part of the last few coaching set ups that have mainly failed or at least underperformed.
  23. I don't see how JRC could be used in any position more advanced than RWB in a 3-5-2, there's only the three CMs and two forwards ahead of him. To be honest even if he was able to stay fully fit I don't think I've seen enough from him to suggest he could be effective in any advanced position. Backup RWB only for me (when he's fit).
  24. There is no way Barcelona or Real Madrid want Brereton, surely. I've always thought even Sevilla - who win the Europa League whenever they feel like it and are otherwise fairly regular in the Champions League - would be a remarkable move. The guy at FFT is a Rovers fan and has done loads of pieces about BBD and tweets about him tons, so doubt it gives any more credibility to the link, but it makes for a great headline. If he did end up at either though - maddest transfer of all time.
  25. Agreed, thought the exact same. After BBD’s winner against Barnsley he announced the goalscorer as just ‘Brereton Diaz’ - never heard a stadium announcer refer to a goalscorer by only his surname before. Unless of course he thought ‘Brereton’ is his first name which wouldn’t surprise me….
