  1. He's 25 in a few months! Don't think 45 senior appearances is anything to shout about.
  2. Best and I'm assuming Rhodes. No idea why but I watched the 'highlights' of that game not too long ago and was amazed to see Best had one cleared off the line after some decent play from him, didn't remember it at all. To be fair I like to try and forget that game, it's always what springs to mind when I think of the worst game I've ever seen.
  3. Our record in the cups under Mowbray is absolutely honking. Another reason to bin him ASAP.
  4. Considering how bright Butterworth looked on Saturday I’d have liked to see him given a start, hopefully he’ll come on for a solid half hour or so.
  5. Well done Rovers! No idea what Swansea were trying to do with their playing out from the back - know your limits - and that definitely helped us. Despite that still needed a couple of decent saves from Kaminski, but I never felt we were hanging on or in any real danger of conceding a second. Ignoring Mowbray still being here, how much easier is it to ‘get behind the lads’ when it’s Buckley, Butterworth etc rather than the likes of Evans and Bennett? Enjoyed that today and good to be back. And nice to have an opening day win after 11 years.
  6. Do you dislike Ince? I'd completely forgotten about him if I'm honest. He was so far out of his depth and couldn't string a sentence together but, from memory, nothing more than that - I wouldn't say I dislike him. No opinion of him at all really apart from him being desperately poor here as manager.
  7. Not much left on BT Sport then apart from the Champions League and some Premier League games, though Sky Sports always get the main PL games. Personally waiting for someone to pick Serie A up - be good if that was BT to justify me having it. Would definitely feel like I'm getting my money's worth then.
  8. There are people on social media asking Rovers to answer the phone as they’re unable to get through, another one saying he’s been on hold for 95 (!) minutes. What’s going on? Just how many obstacles are we prepared to put in front of people who might want to renew or buy a season ticket? Some would just say ‘forget it’ being made to wait that long. Club shop shut yesterday with the first home game on Saturday, taking an age to get through on the phone to I’m guessing an understaffed ticket office.……“We’ve done all we can.” And all this with our lowest ST sales for decades. Imagine if there was an actual demand for STs.
  9. Quite sure that's the case, when I rang to renew last week I mentioned I had my 19/20 card and she said that'd be reactivated, or words to that effect. And yep that was for the same seat.
  10. Doubt it's true (if there's somebody who'd actually be prepared to sack him, how on earth did it not happen last season?) but even if it is, you know that even if we got a good points return from the six games there's still zero chance of us finishing higher than mid-table under Mowbray and the next death spiral is never far away. So just fire him right now and get it over with.
  11. 1. Unfortunately yes. Despite unsuccessfully begging Mowbray to stay (see below), Waggott stays as he knows he'll never have a cushier number than this. He'll cling on as long as he can. 2. No. We've seen that he doesn't react well to criticism - he can't even handle questions that could be construed as being mildly critical from the local press, and that was while stadiums were empty. Barnsley at home the year before too. He just wants us to plod along with no questions being asked of him at all. With us in a full on relegation scrap in about November and rumblings of discontent among the fans inside Ewood, I predict he'll decide he can't be bothered with it all anymore and quit. 3. Kaminski will be busy. But will go for Brereton (possibly based on his two goals just now). Just hope it's not a season like the last relegation season when Williams won it by not being awful. 4. 17th 5. Sheff Utd or West Brom
  12. That'd be a surprise as it'd mean we've sold more tickets for a friendly than we've sold season tickets. Hope he's right though.
  13. Yeah I've seen buses around the Ribble Valley advertising those on the back. Think it's either the 18/19 or 19/20 season. Half the players on there aren't even here anymore and Waggott's of course bumped the prices up since. Really poor.
  14. We had another Chilean, Carlos Villanueva, on loan in 2008/09 but he didn't play much. Couple of Argentinians going back a few years - Mauro Formica, Franco di Santo. Can't think of too many more South Americans off the top of my head..... Ruben Rochina was another Spaniard as well as Salgado. Javier de Pedro too going even further back, although he barely kicked a ball for us.
  15. After not getting any minutes in the qualifiers, I thought maybe the manager didn’t rate him after seeing him in the flesh for the first time. Less likely to be the case though if he’s in the Copa squad. All or at least some games on BBC I think, albeit late at night for us here.
  16. Verratti is exceptional, just injury prone. Jorginho isn't as good as Verratti but can still keep the ball all day long and has just won the CL. Any Serie A followers will know that Barella and Locatelli are really good too, Barella in particular.
  17. Agreed. We've had enough 30+ year old players here lately happy to play out their remaining years in mid-table of the Championship as they know they aren't good enough to play at a higher level. Avoid.
  18. Wonder if Mowbray knew about this - or would Kante have had to learn the position from Smallwood?
  19. Robbie Savage on commentary sounded like he’d swallowed one of those books - “Pogba is playing as a number 6 as part of a double pivot.” He’s playing as a sitting/defensive midfielder then....?
  20. "Why do you want to sign Zidane when we have Tony Mowbray?"
  21. Some absolute beauts in there. Thought he might have been older than 35 by now - surprising he went out to Mexico aged just 29, yet Florian Thauvin is about to do the same at 28 (to the same team, Tigres, as well). Both moving on the back of successful spells at Marseille in their peak years, not like they were on the decline or anything.
  22. Zamarano and Salas, what a front two. Hope they’re not judging Brereton against that standard 😬
