  1. That's a ridiculous scenario. Everyone thinks we have an option for an additional year in his contract (including the player and his agent), yet we don't? For the record, if Mowbray is still here, it wouldn't even have been worth taking up a year extension on his contract anyway. He appeared to be sulking enough about lack of game time, without being forced to say and work with Mowbray.
  2. Knowing Venky's - let's not rule out it being Joe Nuttall.
  3. Although he's only been in the right place at the right time about four times in over 2 years looking at his recent goal record.
  4. Does FL stand for Frank Lampard or Football League? I think either could be applicable.
  5. Wasn't sure where to post this, but their share price has gone up rapidly this week. Shares of Venky’s (India) hit a 52-week high of Rs 1,968.60 after rallying 10 per cent on the BSE in intra-day trade on Wednesday after the company reported a standalone net profit of Rs 77.90 crore for the quarter ended March 2021 (Q4FY21) I'm not 100% sure what that translates to as a GBP profit - but Google converts it to a £7.55m profit for the quarter. Hardly enough to sustain the losses Rovers are making.
  6. It's not just our season that's been dull. Premier League title race is already decided and has been for some time. Relegation places all settled.
  7. If we are expecting Brereton to score enough goals to replace Armstrong then we are in serious trouble.
  8. Fingers crossed it doesn't land with Mowbray.
  9. Gayle's 32 in October. Armstrong only recently turned 24.
  10. The manager should be the highest paid at the club for me (possibly barring the odd exceptional player that generates huge amounts of commercial income - a Messi, Ronaldo, Beckham etc). There can't be many other jobs out there where the staff earn more than the manager they report in to.
  11. I don't get it either. Surely the only way Venky's are ever going to get any kind of return or stop haemorrhaging money is to get the club back into the Premier League. The easiest way to do that is to find a top quality manager. That's where the biggest difference can be made.
  12. Exactly that. You very rarely hear of managers resigning these days - it's always mutual consent. TM's post match interviews for the last 6 months almost sound like someone who wants to be pushed to me.
  13. That's my point though - there is likely to be a break clause in there like Kean had. I'd find it unlikely that it would be the balance of his 4 year contract, as you'd assume they'd have to pay that out in full if they terminated his deal early. It's likely that it's 12 months either way. Surely we could afford 12 months of his salary. This was the wording in Kean's contract: 15 Early Termination 15.1 If the Manager receives an approach for his services whether directly or indirectly from any other club or national association (whether in England or anywhere else in the world) and/or any third party on behalf of such entities during the Fixed Period, he will notify the Owner immediately. 15.2 In the event that the Manager shall, at any time, wish to be released early from this Agreement the Club shall grant his request only if the Manager, prior to any release, compensates the Club or procures the payment of compensation to the Club by way of liquidated damages in a sum equal to twelve (12) months’ gross basic salary as enjoyed by the Manager at the applicable time.
  14. I've obviously not seen Ainsworth's contract - but Kean had a clause in allowing him to leave for the sum of 12 months of his salary. You'd guess that would be a fairly standard clause I would have thought. So I'd expect any compensation to be around 12 months of his salary - and he can't be on a fortune as Wycombe boss.
  15. Before his injury: Championship games: 64 Championship goals: 24
  16. Are you saying he's got an issue with his reliability....and in the next sentence labelling him as reliable?
  17. And I'll bet that comes before the defenders.
  18. I don't get the fuss around Pearson. Did well at Leicester - but they finished 14th in the Premier League before he was sacked and then won the league the season after. His record since Leicester isn't great. Derby - 21.4% (win percentage) OH Leuven - 32.1% Watford - 31.8% Bristol City - 16.7% Certainly nothing to get excited about.
  19. I think this image fully emphases what an awful decade it's been. Rovers v Burnley league finishes since Venky's got involved. This season uses the current league positions.
  20. I was just reading about Vince Grella on Wikipedia to see how many games he did manage for Rovers. He had terrible luck with injuries. He went off injured at half time on his debut - and then was out for month. He managed 29 league starts in 4 years - including just 4 in his last 2 years at the club (none of those 4 he completed the 90 minutes). Then went to Melbourne City - signing a one year deal. It took him 3 months to make his debut - coming on as a sub. He got injured in that substitute appearance and retired 2 days later.
  21. This is surely the equivalent of a woman telling her husband she's going to move in with another bloke, and then changing her mind at the last minute. They've made their bed now, they should be booted out 😂
  22. Worth noting that Paul Cook has won 2 of his 12 games at Ipswich so far. They've not scored a goal in 529 minutes of football either.
  23. The statistics get more damning by the week. They have now lost 19 matches, the same number they managed in the whole of their 2016/17 relegation season. They have failed to score more times (13) than they have managed clean sheets (11) and it’s now two wins in 17 and 11 points taken from the last 51 available.
  24. He doesn't see Melbourne Victory quite at Super League level yet, but he's sure they can be in a few years.
  25. I'd be interested to see how many of the players were genuinely bothered about that. I get the feeling the majority are more interested in lining their own pockets than representing their country anyway (not all of them, but the majority)
