I wouldn't read into what he says in LT to much. Ultimately he's made his bed and now he lying in it. He still has x amount of games left and has to use what he has. He has to keep them motivated somehow and slating them the day before a game and constantly talking of signing new players isn't going to fire them up. I'm hoping in reality he realises we need new Defenders, hence the contradictory language. I was more concerned with his comments about Davenport, saying that anyone expecting him to come in and boss the midfield is going to be disappointed and he sees him only playing in a midfield three. Agree. That was my biggest concern when he was called up against wigan. This lad has potential but he is far from ready to be thrown into first team action. He proved me wrong against Wigan but the concerns I had started appearing against Wednesday. As the season is over I find it frustrating that he won't give rothwell, Chapman, Davenport and brereton a start ( not necessarily all in the same game but a couple phased in throughout the rest of the season) and Buckley and Butterworth to at the absolute minimum be in the traveling 18. I can only assume Tony knows where on the road to a hiding against a very good, inform villa side with everything to play for and is protecting them but you would think brereton and Davenport have enough championship experience between them to be making the bench and we all know Chapman has the quality to effect games.

So non of the above and rothwell will probably have had his rusk took off him so it's no youth and no energy aswell as an ass whooping. Great Let's hope David Raya is having one of his less suicidal afternoons or this could become embarrassing

Saadi came off the bench for the u23s so he has played at a higher level than u18s. TBH I was distracted with kids so didn't see where he played or how he played but he's doing well to be in and around that group

I agree with some of that. As far as Bennett is concerned all the reason you outlined is Kind of my point. The fact he doesn't score enough goals, crossing etc as you stated is the reason why he should play in cm, the one place is attributes can be utilised. I agree he will never dictate the play just like Savage didn't. He had tugay at the side of him to do that once the ball had been won back. Play him along side Smallwood, Evans etc and then you haven't fixed the problem ( although it would be a slight upgrade imo). Play him along side Rodwell, Reed and hopefully Travis, who can dictate the play and you have a partnership that just might offer something different to the absolute non existence of a midfield two we have now. In an ideal world Bennett goes and we get in someone of quality, a specialist in that position. In the real world of venkys and with so many other positions of priority needing filling it could be a small step in the right direction and if nothing else frees up the right side to play a proper, preferably attacking, right sided player
