WBA VS ROVERS - SAT 27TH
Oldgregg86 replied to Dreams of 1995's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Expectation has changed after seeing the quality of the league and our team. Don't mistake my comments as we should be going up. That's not what I'm saying at all. What I'm saying is why say now let's consolidate and push on next year when we are riding on momentum and in a good place. I didn't believe the squad would be capable of competing consistently against the top teams. We are. Expections shouldn't be lowered , they should be raised but with a level of realism. Now is a good a time as any to strengthen within our means and have a good go. If we fall short then so be it. There is no guarantee we will be any stronger next season -

Why go again next season. I would have taken 20th at the start of the season. That was then. Alot can happen between now and the end of next season. We could lose our best players to top clubs, other championship clubs could get heavy investment making the league harder etc etc. We are in a prime position with a decent squad and sit nicely coming into a transfer window. We should be fully going all out to go up this season..if we fail trying it's been a good season but why not capitalise on momentum and what is a superb squad of players full of belief. Ride the crest of the wave or next summer we could sit with dack gone Reed gone Palmer gone and one or two others and the rebuild starts again and we lose what is keeping us near the play off places. We could have an amazing season next season, it could go terribly wrong but right now it's going well so let's push now and have some ambition. We fail, we failed trying, not sit next season potentially saying that was the squad to get us up . -

Can just imagine Glenn meeting the disabled England fans and giving little Johnny, sat in his wheelchair a cheeky hair ruffle. Shame you where such a prick in the 1600s Johnny. That could be you out there playing for England. Shame your legs don't work. Make sure your nice in this life, there's a good lad This started by Batman commenting on my comment about saying maybe it was karma that made glenn get ill. So why can't Glenn get ill through karma and why does that offend you if it's just an ideology. Have you been programmed to get offeneded. Do you not see the irony in that you got offended by a comment I made about karma coming for Glenn ? -

I haven't been programmed to find anything offensive. I'm more than capable of thinking for myself. Many disabled people I spoke to have been offended and hurt by his comments. I was offended to think young people could hear these comments and treat disabled people like they deserve to be disabled. It's your own fault , karma's a bitch. Society has improved massively since I was a child pushing my sister around in a wheelchair and ignorance was a massive issue. You are showing massive ignorance on this nobody else. He's entitled to his " ideas" . People are entitled to be offended -

Agreed. To be honest I'm glad once he said it he had the balls to carry it through and stand by what he believes rather than crawl around spitting PR nonsense. He rightly lost the England job but as far as I'm concerned that was his punishment and he shouldn't be castigated for the rest of his life. However Ron atkinson has never been seen since he said nigger yet Glenn is back on the tv. If you changed the word disabled to black in his comments it's a whole different ball game. Which opens a whole new debate. According to tv, the fa and the publics reaction it's far worse to discriminate against black people than discriminate against the disabled. When both are equally abhorant. Food for thought ....opinions people -

Because that was our OWN opinion before the game that on this occasion proved to be wrong. The same opinion that was right before the Sheffield united game that makes for good debate and what being a football fan (especially on a message board ) all about. If we didn't post pre game because mowbray knows better then you can't post after the game because Tony has a long term plan and knows better. Therefore message board obsolete -

Did leutwiler have an awful game I missed. I've seen him a few times and why he never had much to do I don't think he did anything wrong and saved what he should have. Curious as to the massive generalisation that he isnt good enough. I haven't seen him play much but did nothing wrong when he did. I know he isn't as good as Raya but are people comfortable with him filling in for a few games should Raya get an injury ? -

I use the tombola reference a fair bit as it's a light hearted way to discuss what I perceive as negatives. Everybody understands the meticulous levels of preparation and planning he does. I'm also well aware he knows more about football in every aspect than I do. I'm sure he does things for reasons I've probably not even took into consideration such is his studius approach. But as a fan with limited knowledge in comparison, and only Liam rosenior moving poker chips with players names on around a massive screen for five minutes as information, I want to be able to talk to fellow rovers and discuss what I thought needed changing , line up etc without suddenly being labelled or bracketed in a negative, positive, super fan, happy clapper. Nobody on the whole message board has ever not backed Tony, or wanted him to do well. People hold their hands up when they have got it wrong but should be free to discuss what they see whether you have FIFA coaching badges or FIFA cramp. If everybody came on yesterday at.2.30 and said well that's the team , in Tony we trust. What is the point. -

Fair post. What's frustrating me is while Tony is getting the results and it's hard to question him, I fear we could be getting better results and these strange line ups are holding back a team deemed to be over achieving. Is mowbrays tactics the masterstroke to an over achieving team or is his tinkering holding back a really promising side ? You could argue the moaners on here are the ones who believe in the team and are a more positive bunch seeing the potential the team has more than the happy that will do Tony , weve only just been promoted negativity lot . .... Discuss ? -
That is the worry. We will do well to keep him. Let's hope he enjoys his time here and hope for the best

He's changed mine. He was excellent and much improved from the start of the season. If he can keep a level of consistency he will be a big player for us.
