WBA VS ROVERS - SAT 27TH
Oldgregg86 replied to Dreams of 1995's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I thought Palmer had a very good game and was surprised he took him off instead of conway. Conway off brereton/Armstrong up top and dack to drop back. Maverick mowbray didn't do what seemed the obvious choice He's Tony mowbray, he does what he wants -
Seriously get him signed. He is what every Lowe, Guthrie, akpan, Evans, Smallwood I have watched year after year should have been. They pale in comparison. offers something in the attack and defense. If we had paid 7 million for him and saw that today I wouldn't have batted an eyelid at the price and he would have been worth every penny.

WBA VS ROVERS - SAT 27TH

Well what a surreal afternoon. I thought tony got the line up terribly wrong and still do yet everyone would have took 1-1 before kick off and he managed it with ten men and a 5ft midfielder in the net so TBH I don't know what to say anymore. Trust his magic tombola and get Venus to check breretons ball hasn't been lost. I can't come on and say the dack up top doesnt work and why is there three strikers on the bench etc etc because the results speak for themselves. I, as much as anyone can be guilty of finding the negatives. I'm not going to do that and point out the pluses that had me leave the hawthorns beaming with pride. Firstly , Harrison Reed put in the most complete performance since friedel was here and was mom by a mile, and that was before he curled a beauty in .what a player he is. How he isn't in the first team at Southampton is beyond me. I can't describe the impact he had today. Whilst the line up may have left them slightly disjointed in the final third the effort of every single player could not be questioned. Every player wanted it. The passion was incredible. The fought for that point today and fully deserved it. Dack had three men on him all day and don't really know what he could have done with limited support. The fans where incredible and I love my club and football more than ever. So I'm going to leave the Tony mowbray tombola well alone tonight and Basque in a glorious match that had everything. Tony has obviously been doing devil worship or he's a ninja wizard because the less sense it makes the harder it gets to argue. Goodnight fellow blues -

Harsh dropping Armstrong who I would rather have on against a team like wba. Palmer isn't the best positionally or defensively, id go as far to say he's pretty awful without the ball, probably why Tony doesn't play him despite his obvious goal threat. Bar that that's the team I'd go with, with Palmer to make an appearance in the second half -

The pitch would be ruined. -
It's a good post and one I agree with. The question is what has mowbray seen in him to warrant that fee and how does he see him utlised in his plans. He was bought to be a main striker yet would rather play dack up there than ben.
-
No idea . Didn't see Tony. Probably right. I spoke to Willem Tomlinson who has been out with a quad problem but he said he's back in contention for the next game
-
Grayson played well and scored from the spot. Didn't have to much defending to do but had alot of the ball as rovers played out from the back. Don't know about dunns replacement. He was there today and I saw waggott hovering around the car park. Formation and line up was Fisher Doyle. Downing. Grayson. Evans Buckley. Davenport. Travis. Vale Mols. Candlin Simmonds, Lyons and Butterworth came on second half.
-
Looks like we dodged a bullet with that henaghan lad. He was poor. Tbf all the Blackpool team were. Noticed jaaskalinen on the bench for Blackpool. Can only assume he's the son of jussi.

Rovers where superb today. Candlin didn't have his best game and was replaced by Butterworth. He was fantastic when he came on driving forward, he missed a penalty but apart from that was superb. Mom imo was Buckley on the right. What a game he had. Scored the second by beating one man and driving to the box turned back inside leaving another defender and finishing with the outside of his foot. Really good head on him. Intelligent play defensively and offensive, calm and composed, made the right choices a joy to watch. The back four all played well, evans in particular who supported the attacks down the left and got on the scoresheet. Davenport had a steady game without standing out. Travis was also superb and from watching Davenport maybe five times live and seeing quite Abit of Travis I know who I would be playing. Travis is the better player imo and a few around who go regular echoed that sentiment. Mols kept making excellent runs but nobody ever picked him out . Lyons looked tidy when he came on. All in all a superb 6-0 win with a missed penalty and post and bar struck in either half. Og, Buckley, Grayson, Vale, Evans and Simmonds the scorers.

I would have shot myself before the end of that speech
-
We are going to get hammered trying to defend against west broms attacking line up. May as well go for it, whoever he picks. I think Tony will be giving his artists a day off and trying to not concede , we will and it's back to the drawing board
