The Godlike Genius of Charlie Mulgrew
Oldgregg86 replied to blueboy3333's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Not to worry he's fit as a fiddle and raring to go. If the roofe is on fire , Paul the fireman downing will sort that out. Kemar who -
Only saw the second half but thought we played well. The two rashford misses are inexcusable at that level, he should have buried at least one of them. I see alot of room for improvement but I actually enjoy watching England play again. The more I watch the optimistic I get. I think Gareth has done a wonderful job this far and long may it continue

I have every confidence Rodwell could play cb til Mulgrew got back then leave Tony with another selection headache -
Championship 2018-19

What Terry lacks Dean Smith can make up for that's why imo it is a good appointment. All the greats complimented each other's flaws. I'm not saying John Terry is a good person I'm saying he obviously has been a positive influence in that villa dressing room and people at the clubs, fans and players in the majority must be happy to have him back. The board wouldn't have hired him without doing there research into how the he is percieved among his piers. It's just my opinion and I think they will.compliment each other very well. -

I think appointing Terry as number two is genius. He obviously made a good impression with the fans who needed a lift and this appointment will certainly do that. He must have been good around the dressing room and a likeable guy because they wouldn't have brought him back if he was a bad influence or causing discontent so the players have someone they know well who they trust and believe in. The young players will look up to him. He will help sort out what has been a very poor defense and he can help the new manager not only with the player by being a go between but he knows there strengths and weaknesses better than anyone has he has played with them all. He knows the club and will prove a valuable asset to Dean Smith. I can see villa starting to be a force in this league. Don't know the director of whatever but two very good appointments imo and one the majority of villa fans will be happy with, believe in and get behind. JT doesn't have the best reputation to the man on the street but he is very respected in football circles. Don't let your personal view of his personality cloud your judgement on what's best from a professional perspective -
The job Southgate has done reminds me alot of what Tony's is doing here. Both were nobodys first choice but since taking the jobs have got the team re engaged with the fans. Shipped out the old and have brought in Young blood, full of hunger and desire to build for the future with long term goals set. Both can still leave more questions being asked than provide the answers on the pitch but the results are there and off the field it's a good as it's been in a long time. If you believe Tony deserves a new contract I find it staggering anyone could question why Southgate doesn't deserve one as the jobs both have done are almost identical. In southgate we trust and gets behind the lads ffs

Grealish has been linked with Spurs all summer. Last season sessengnon was linked everywhere. Tbf non of those happened. Dele Alli is the last off the top of my head. Joe Gomez from Charlton maybe

Transfer Window - Success or Failure
Oldgregg86 replied to roversfan99's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I personally wouldn't give Evans one and free up his wages, bring someone in who offers more. If we are building and improving to reach the promise Land then we need to do better than Evans. I've never rated him. If you see players like mcginn going for 4 million and where serious about promotion I'd be looking for better -
Even Liam rosenier spent the whole of the after match analysis ignoring the game and just showing dack reels in slow mo saying he's ready for the premiership

Transfer Window - Success or Failure
Oldgregg86 replied to roversfan99's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I agree. Charlie and Tony are complete no brainers. Evans has been anonymous for as long as I can remember. Contract starts running down and he's playing his heart out. Once that contract is signed we will more than likely see the Cory of old. I hope I'm wrong and he's had an injury free period and a new lease of life but history suggests his foot will be off the gas. In his defense (bad choice of words I know) he's never had the competition to push him or anyone who was good enough to take his shirt regardless. If he doesn't perform now I'm sure young Travis or Rodwell will take it off him. I really would love to put Bennett in there and add Chapman in January. He offers so much more and can lead by example in the middle of the pitch. Anyway still more good news and positive steps by the club. Let the good times roll -
Rovers v Leeds, Ewood, 12.00 KO, 20th October
Oldgregg86 replied to darrenrover's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Good review and appreciated. I'd go with the same 11 as you for our team. ? -
You can't do unreserved seating because like you said you don't want people to have your seat and people all over the ground have season tickets. It would be the darwen end debate all over again. I suppose you could pay for a ten game season ticket and they scan it at the ticket office as if you where paying cash on the day without the guarantee of the same seat each game
-
Would the two scenarios not clash. If you had a season ticket for ten games then how would you be able to turn up and not expect someone else to have bought a ticket In your seat. In theory I like the idea I just don't understand how it would work without unreserved seating

So you won't support rovers because you won't give venkies any of your money but would consider paying venkies to watch another team because of who there managed by ? -
The Sunderland fans wrote on there forum Yesterday that he was annonymous all game and got dragged off at the hour mark. I think they are always going to have biased negative views of him in the way if coyle did well somewhere no fans on here would change there views on him. There loss our gain
-
Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Everybody is delighted with the way the club is on an upward projectory. Everybody is delighted that the shite has been shipped out and we have players to be proud of who we can get behind. Everybody loves tony. You are mistaking analysing individual games with being unhappy with the overall picture

Championship 2018-19
Oldgregg86 replied to Cherry Blue's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
If the signings are the right ones and can go straight into the 11 I agree. We also have alot of tough games coming up before the window and it could be the end of January before they arrive. We need to keep up with the pack for that to even be a possibility -

Joe lolley with a goal and assist for forest. He really catches the eye this lad. One to watch -
Now yes but there is a window in January and a whole summer to see how ambitious the club is when it comes to the rebuild.
-
He's not comparing us to Liverpool more that the way Liverpool added van dijk made the difference between Liverpool this season and the one that competed for top four. Adding a good cb will make a huge difference is the point he was making
-
The centre midfield is going to be the difference for us this year and going forward. It has to be more dynamic and preferably more height if we are ever to progress. Smallwood and Evans do what they do but it isn't good enough to propel us to the dizzy heights we all dream of
-
Has to be Raya for me. Had little to do but what he did was faultless and one world class save was the difference between a happy three points and a very poor draw before an international break.
-
Regarding the derby debate. The fact it's ten miles away makes it a local derby regardless of invisible and ever changing lines
-
He'd do exactly what Evans and Smallwood do but add height to win headers and keep us in possession to play on the front foot
-
If you factor in the shattered confidence and lack of games over the last two years I'd say he can only get better and I'm happy with what I've seen up to now. If his attitude is right behind closed doors I would be looking at extending his contract before he gets snapped up by someone else. I really rate the lad
