Give over. Once people realise we are trying to get rid of Brereton, with one year left, the offers immediately go down. £8m has always been a laughing stock. And who would you have replaced Brereton this year with the funds we have? You lose 20 goals from last year and are left with x millions to replace him, after being in the job for days Let's just say I am glad GB is our director of football and not you. I don't disagree there's a lot of bullshit happening at Ewood but you have this spectacular ability to ignore the cause: Venkys. Broughton has had 6 months to work with owners who are difficult, disinterested and distant. And here you are making out like this bloke, who has worked in football for decades, is out of his depth. I know you try and pass it off as an informed opinion but the fact is it is just silly and knee jerk Any director of football needs a couple of windows to be able to build the team. It is Venky level of stupid to be looking to move the DoF on after 6 months and not even one full window. So congratulations on entering that esteemed club -

What evidence? It isn't Broughton's fault our highest priced asset will leave on a free. He inherited that. The bloke has had about 6 months in a job, and not even a full transfer window, and here you are saying he is a man out of his depth on "evidence"? If he ain't got a pot to piss in it isn't his fault. Not yet, anyway. Like any man you need time. Unless you have millions to throw at it a DOF isn't going to get immediate results in less than 6 months Tiresome -

Are the goals smaller in league one or something? -

That's a matter for debate Rothwell's last season with us was an outlier to his usual performances. Quite regularly he had returns of 2/3 goals and similar in assists. His 10+ assists last year was unusual for him Szmodics, although typically playing further forward has contributed to far more goals throughout his playing career. At the same age Szmodics has 3x as many goals as Rothwell And let's not forget that Rothwell played much further forward for most of his time at Rovers Sammie's goal vs Hull gave us the three pts in a tricky fixture To be fair I am going to give him more time before I start saying he's definitely not as good as Rothwell. Sammie's having a better first season than Rothwell had for us. It took Rothwell 3 years before he found some consistency, and almost as soon as it began it ended, which culminated in pissing off players and supporters alike with an uncaring attitude Rothwell could get you off your seat on occasion, on others he would frustrate beyond all belief. I don't see much in either of them at present, at least not enough to draw a definite conclusion like this -

Rothwell flattered to deceive, that's for sure When under the cosh I bet he's a nightmare to play with. He didn't get back often enough. And his head dropped from January onwards which raises serious questions over his teamwork Then there's the rumours of the problems that he caused in the dressing room, with players increasingly frustrated with his attitude. Even if you are ultra sceptical over dressing room talk his performances on the pitch post-January showed his lack of endeavour for Rovers' success But this season there's also been times when we've missed his direct running. Problem is in his years here it came too few and far between. I can see the pros and cons of a Rothwell, who I consider a bit of a luxury player, but nevertheless his attitude has tipped me into the camp of him being one to avoid -

He deserves it Klopp and Liverpool obviously see something in the lad. This season will be massive for his development. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him loaned to either a lower league Prem club or top foreign league next season either -

Well, he was 16 turning 17 not 15 for a start Jude is an exceptional player, no doubt about it, but he wasn’t unreal at that time. He was always tipped for stardom though, and I suppose ‘unreal for his age’ is fair I think Morton has bossed some games as well, but has had a lot of naive performances also, as young players do I just don’t think it is out of the realms of reality a team like Dortmund is after Morton. They signed Sancho before he had a senior appearance and Morton will have a similar season to Bellingham at this level, providing he can add a goal or two, whilst also being part of a squad that is 3rd and not fighting relegation Again, I caveat it knowing Jude is younger than him I don’t have a list of similar achievements because I’m not a professional footballer. Remember that question the next time you start telling us you know 15 year olds who are better than lads playing pro footy in the Championship though 👍 Lastly, please stop using that monkey emoji, it is most unbefitting of a grown man -

Jude Bellingham moved to Dortmund from a nearly relegated Blues, although he was younger than Morton is He did get young player of the season to be fair but that step up can be done I wouldn’t have called Bellingham unreal at this level either, not at the time anyway Not that any of that thinks I mean Morton will go Dortmund by the way, but they make players better and Morton could be one that excels with elite level coaching -

I'm yet to be convinced. Didn't do a lot in his time in this league either, but he was younger If he's off to Wigan I just hope he doesn't hit a purple patch in time for us -

Still a good move and a step up for the lad. Good on him. I don't think anyone here ever watched the man play for Stockport, but if this move is sorted quickly then a professional at Bristol Rovers did, and they must see something because they are in the promotion push Let's hope he isn't just back up, but either way if it happens it's a step in the right direction -

Is he that good? He's scored 3 goals in 48 games. That's 16 games a goal -

I wouldn't say that is an unfair comparison To me a PL player is a fine player, but you're right, reaching the very top seems a big step up for him at the present moment It is amazing what progress can be made though. I look at a player like Mount, who looked a cut above this league, and he was handed a role probably too big for him so is suffering for it. The progression of any footballer is a guess to us mere mortals - they are one injury or a purple patch away from obscurity or stardom respectively -
I have always wanted Moruinho to manage England to be honest. A born winner. The problem is he has more than likely fallen out with 75% of our squad by now, but other than that I'd have him. A decent appointment by Brazil, but with their godly status as footballers over there he might find himself facing some resistance early doors. Players like Neymar don't simply fall in line

Morton will develop into a fine player. There's no doubt in my mind This season has been a big learning curve for him but he has natural talent. One thing he needs to get better at is playing on the half turn, but a club like Dortmund or Liverpool will drill that into him -

No. But it will tell you their revenue But FFP is a complicated system. There’s a lot of exemptions to be considered. I don’t get it myself - SwissRamble on Twitter does a lot of financial unpacking Tbh, and this ain’t at you Sparks, I’m bored of the Boro comparisons. It’s every transfer window. They can spend more than us because they make more. When we break it down it really is that simple -
I think Bale went to war with Madrid and ultimately that meant he had to dig deep and 'sacrifice' his playing time In the end he took them for every penny he was owed and barely lifted a finger for it. There's not a lot of clubs I'm happy to see that happen to but Madrid is one On his day an exhilarating player to watch, with pace, strength and ability in equal measure. His performance vs Inter Milan will go down in history as one of the best individual games in history And what a turbulent career. I'm pretty sure he was voted the worst left back in the country whilst at Birmingham City, only for Harry Redknapp to do what all great managers do and realise his potential lay elsewhere on the pitch

I don't think anyone is saying they aren't equal, but they are also in different formats of the game and should be recorded as different When you see a 100m sprint races I'm almost certain it says "Women's/Men's 100m Finalists" or something similar. And so it should. Because the records and performances will differ significantly owing to different physical attributes

I don't think he is the answer, but I don't think he was 'way out of his depth' against Blues either. That's just my thoughts on it. They put Chong on him early second half if I remember correctly, who got subbed quite quickly. Primarily Brown's job was to defend and he did so that game quite easily against two good wingers But as you say, his age is against him and if he really has struggled in league 2 then it doesn't bode well. -

Contrary to Roversfan99 I think he had a good game v Blues in the last game of last season He was up against Onel Hernandez, who is a tricky player, but was kept quiet Looked okay on the ball, good turn of pace and strong in the tackle Probably isn't ready for regular Championship football and I suspect we will see him out on loan again, but could become a decent player -

It isn't an excuse, it is a fact, as the finances dictate Okay this is a fault of Venkys making, but we simply do not have the financial wiggle room to spend any substantial amounts of money in January. Not without selling a player We should have sold BBD and Rothwell last summer, but one could argue that was Rovers gambling they would be the players to bring us promotion It was Mowbray's death spiral that meant that gamble didn't pay off -
Even tournament wins should be separate imo We have mens football and we have womens football. Two different formats of the game A man cannot enter a womens game, and a woman cannot enter the mens game, so therefore any records held are for that particular format Player of the match or man of the match is an irrelevance really

I don’t know about this Cycles in football come around. This is the peak of their modern history When we were in the Premier League we travelled to Rotterdam, Basel, Salzburg. They had a day in Aberdeen We regularly minced it with the top half and pushed for Europe over a sustained number of seasons, they have had one season where they’ve come top half They aren’t everything we dream of being. We have more ambition than that. Treading water at Prem level sounds a nightmare- when we go up we must aspire for more. For not to is a losers mentality

Bloody hell, you're easy 😉 He's more Vindollars than Vincent - he needs to spend big to achieve and don't forget it
