Mm, I’d be amazed if his name wasn’t amongst the names being mentioned at Stoke.

Girona won 4-2. Does that mean we’re better than Barca again ? -

Plan B if things aren’t working. Travis on to play alongside Tronstad. Leonard off, Sammy up front and Wharton in behind him. That’s if Ennis can’t taise a gallop for an hour or so. -
Let’s keep our fingers crossed that he does well then.

One of my near neighbours owns a samosa making business. From time to time he’ll bring a box of them over for me. Absolutely delicious.

I agree with you, he’s wasted back there from an attacking point of view. Also he’s not the greatest defender on the planet. He needs to be playing where he can hurt teams and where if he loses the ball it’s not the end of the world. It does create problems setting up the rest of the “ attack “ though. -

It’s like when Mowbray dropped Raya to play that keeper who’s name I’ve already forgotten. -

Too obvious a move for the Chicken Chokers. They probably still think he’s at the Dingledome. -

I agree with that. To football your way out of this division you need big bucks. Exactly what we haven’t got. I feel sorry for JDT, he’d probably be successful at another club. He won’t be at Rovers because he’s been set up to fail. There’s only one way to get out of this division on peanuts. You’ve got to play a simpler, less ambitious, style of football. -
Which one is Weller ?

He’s wasted playing where he does at the moment. I suppose it’s just part of the learning curve. -

The chairman of Grimsby Town writes interesting articles for my paper ( The Guardian ) quite often. Today he writes a very interesting article about the selection process for a new manager. He stresses the need for forward planning. Not something that seems to much in evidence at Ewood Park these days. -

One of the best I ever saw was Ricky Holden at Oldham and City. I swear I could run faster but all he needed was a little jink to buy him half a yard and he’d whip in a great cross. A left footer playing on the left wing. No way would Mowbray and most modern coaches play him there. Talking Rovers players, Mike Harrison could put over a bullet of a cross without breaking his stride whilst running at top speed. Not something you see much these days. The speed of the cross is important as well, whipped in, it cuts down defenders reaction time. -

My wife has always done English GCSE exam marking. Years ago the subject you had to write about was “ An important decision you had to make “. One of the papers she marked was from a player who was an England schoolboy international on Preston’s books and his agent was agitating for him to move to London and sign for Spurs. That was the decision he had to make. The lad was still at school and he already had an agent ! The lad decided to stay at Preston and he went on to have a long career in pro football without ever reaching the highest level. I’ll bet he’s very wealthy now. -

Just proving balls whipped in from out wide near the bye line are hard to defend against. Plus you only need to get half a yard on the full back to get a cross in.
