There's one important fact you have missed out there - last season he was playing alongside Adam Armstrong who was scoring for fun. Who knows how many he would have scored last year if Armstrong had not been there. My view is that Ben has been showing gradual but continuous improvement for 18 months now. Last year his improvement was masked a bit by playing second fiddle to armstrong, hence it looks like there has been a great leap forward this season. I can't be bothered to look back 12 months on this thread but there was a growing consensus that he was improving then.

There’s a certain amount of selective memory going on here. Whilst I am quite happy to believe that he has learnt from his exploits with Chile he was clearly improving his game with Rovers last season well before his international days.

We are as near as damn it 1/3rd of the way through the season. Extrapolating our current points would give us 70-71 points for the season. That would probably leave us short of a play-off position, in some seasons a long way short (although it would have been enough in 2019-20). Right now it looks like there are 3 teams standing out and a large number of others any of whom could take 3 play-off places. If this carries on then the points total needed for 6th is likely to be lower than usual. We can all recite games in the first 15 where we could have got more points, but I guess most fans of other clubs can also say the same. Where we might be more positive is that I don't think there are a lot of games so far where we have won points we didn't deserve.

The TV games for that weekend have already been chosen and this game isn't one of them. I would also have thought that if the police wanted it moving earlier that it would have been done by now.

In the interests of balance I've met plenty of white South Africans who were not racist at all - indeed there was one who was going out of his way to be supportive os the black waiters in the meal I mentioned above. But there is a significant percentage who don't seem to have realised that apartheid is over.

I have seen racism in a number of countries around the world including the UK, US, India and New Zealand but in my experience that in South Africa is in a completely different league.

Den - that's because it is You would not believe the racism in some of the white communities in South Africa. I have been there three times and it's a beautiful country with lots of lovely people of all races. But there is a minority of the white community which still believes they and apartheid should still be in charge. We were in a game reserve a few years ago having a meal and we could not believe how a white family next to us treated the local black waiting staff. It was the sort of thing you would have been embarrassed to hear in the UK 50 years ago.

They were putting under-23s on RoversTV but that was when you couldn't attend, so probably not tonight. Reserve/under 23 games have always been free for ST holders.

No they haven't really Matt. The rescheduled England v India decider which should have been at OT last September has been set for 1st July. Unfortunately OT can't hold the game on that date as they can't have a pitch ready (concerts?). So the ECB have given that game to Edgbaston and transferred the August test v South Africa, which should have been at Edgbaston, to OT.

I know stats often don’t tell the whole story but having 19 shoots against 6 and 10 on target against 3 suggests a bit more than just nicking it. Sounds more like although they left it late they deserved it.

It might be instructive to look at PNE’s gate on Saturday. They have been averaging a bit under 10,000 home fans so far. On Saturday they reduced prices to £5 (and gave the money to charity) as part of their commemoration of Trevor Hemmings’ death. They got roughly an extra 5,500 home fans. Clearly £5 is a lot cheaper than £14.60 and they had the extra “incentive” of wanting to remember Hemmings. So I would expect a much smaller increase and the actual number will depend on results before the game. Lose them all and very few more fans, win them all and a lot more will come. The truth will no doubt be somewhere in between.

My best guess in this case would be that it was a combination of some individuals complaining and us raising the matter at the September Fans Forum.
