  1. There have been a few posts about issues at the game on Saturday on various threads and I have had a couple of emails to the Forum as well. I thought it best to post on this thread. People were asking for issues to be raised at the next Forum but that's not scheduled for another 5 weeks so I contacted the club yesterday about three things: - The inaudibility of the speakers in the Riverside Broken TV screens in the Riverside Problems at the concourse kiosks I have had a reply from the club as below: - I can confirm that all audio equipment has been serviced during the lockdown period, however, we are aware of certain speakers being unclear on Saturday. The engineers and PA system operators are currently discussing how these issues will be rectified ahead of the next match. You are correct that speakers are not able to be turned off for safety reasons. We did experience some staffing issues on the concourse. Hospitality staff are in short supply across the country due to Covid and this gave us cause for concern ahead of the start of this season. We did manage to pull together sufficient staff, however, due to last minute notice of isolations, this did impact the service on the day. Sodexo are confident the issues will be rectified ahead of the next match. The electricians were pulled away for urgent repairs whilst setting up TV’s, however, we are confident that these were switched on in good time. One TV did fail in the Riverside Stand despite pre-match checks and this will be replaced in due course.
  2. ????? I think one of the comments at a meeting was to maybe reverse the charge i.e knock £3 off the price if you buy in advance rather than adding it on before kick-off. Right now that would be a sensible move, although still in my view the prices would be too high.
  3. I wouldn't be too sure about Morecambe resting many players. They have a new manager, had 6 new starters on Saturday and an excellent start to their first ever season in League 1 - they were a minute or two away from a real shock at Ipswich (in front of 21,000!). I wouldn't be surprised to see them be more or less full strength and I certainly wouldn't be taking them for granted. We have plenty of evidence of the effect of playing newly promoted sides at the beginning of a season.
  4. The South American international breaks have been extended by two days to allow the teams to get 3 games in each to allow them to catch up from pandemic postponements. So if Sr Diaz gets selected and goes out to Chile he will miss the games at the end of the September and October breaks. That will be the home games against Luton and Coventry.
  5. You can still come by yourself gumboots! It sounds like you're free.
  6. It might not be amt consolation but North End had exactly the same problem with not having their plastic ST cards ready for the first game.
  7. More likely trying to control the numbers in the shop for social distancing I would have thought.
  8. It’s not the iFollow rules as such but EFL rules which the club is tied to, whether they take the iFollow stream as last season or do their own as this. The Carabao Cup is an EFL competition. The FA Cup may well-being different when we get to it.
  9. Lies, damned lies and statistics. No doubt officially Diaz got the assist but anyone with half a brain surely knows that winning the ball in midfield and sending a wonderful pass straight to Diaz in the penalty area was the real assist.
  10. I'm quite glad I didn't see JohnGo's post before it was removed, or I might have had a post removed as well.
  11. Well that is what the Rovers press release said.
  12. To be fair most other teams are equally affected. Jennings’ foot injury probably did for us today as much as anything. That and our failure to finish Middlesex’s innings off when we had them 7 down. Still it was an entertaining game on a lovely day with a decent crowd. It’s a good job there are some Preston lads in the team. Bailey and Hurt took 5 of the wickets and Danny Lamb took two wonderful catches and a run out and nearly finished off the run chase.
  13. What I mean, and perhaps I didn't express it clearly enough, is that if the club could build an at least equivalent facility closer to Ewood Park and make some money, then I would be in favour. But, as I said, I can't see how this could be done.
  14. The last couple of pages of this thread have been an object lesson in how some random speculation can run away with itself on the internet. I didn't know Mushy personally before he joined the Forum last October along with two others but I was aware of his name. As ES says he has been a Rovers supporter for a long time. His appointment, like every one that has been made whilst I have been Secretary, had nothing to do with the club. He has contributed a number of times to discussions since joining and made his comment about considering a move into Blackburn with Darwen should the training ground move I think at the March meeting and re-iterated it in May. One of the reasons for his suggestion was that a training centre within Blackburn would be much better for community use than Brockhall. For what its worth I would be in favour of such a move if it made financial sense and if a suitable site could be found. Right now I can't see how either of those conditions will be met.
  15. I disagree Den. I think it's good to see pitches that are a good balance between bat and ball, rather than some of the pitches you see these days which are flat tracks combined with short boundaries. It then becomes just a matter of how many sixes each side can get away. Rizwan and Roy seemed to manage to get runs last night OK. Lancashire do seem to have depth in their squad right now. Despite 8 players off at The Hundred (9 if you count Finn Allen) they could still field a team with 8 regular starters for the friendly warm-up 50 over game with Cumberland yesterday
  16. Damn frustrating to have been at games there on Friday and Saturday with a small crowd and full social distancing (whilst England were playing to full grounds) and tonight Old Trafford is full.
  17. It took place last night and the minutes are with the club so should be out in a few days. We delayed the meeting by a week in the hope that we could meet in the flesh rather than Zoom. But then Steve Waggott got pinged and had to self isolate so we ended up back on Zoom last night so he could attend.
  18. I understand that the shop is planned to be open in time for the Leeds game.Whether that's next Wednesday or before I don't know.
  19. Given the hotel expansion plans the club have announced and the fact that they're not issuing a bond for members to help it this time suggests that they expect that demand will continue to be strong and that they have access to the money to do the work. Whether they are right os of course another matter.
  20. I understand that Rovers plan to play in their new home kit at Bradford and the new away kit at the Leeds game.
  21. Nah, pint of Two Hoots in the shade in E stand Gav. Yorkshire are batting first so hopefully they will have trouble with the setting sun too.
  22. Me too gumboots. It's a real shame that there will be so few of us there when everywhere else sports grounds seem to be packed (not that I'm sure they should be yet). Finn Allen didn't field last night so hopefully it's not something that keeps him out of the game tonight.
  23. An extraordinary innings by Liam Livingstone tonight. Amongst all the stats the most amazing one for me was that it was the first century scored against Pakistan in T20 internationals and they play more than any other team. Meanwhile I saw an equally entertaining game at Old Trafford- almost 400 runs scored on the night and Lancs just squeezing home. Birmingham won as well so Lancs will probably have to beat Yorkshire tomorrow to qualify for the quarter finals.
  24. Sorry Den you're right. I knew Yorks got 8 points but appear to have typed 3!
  25. After yesterday's incident at Headingley the Roses match has been abandoned as a draw. It was always going to end as a draw anyway but both sides have been deprived of a chance to pick up a few more bonus points to take into the next stage. So Lancs get 11 points and Yorks 3. I think that will mean that Lancs start stage 2 with 16.5 points and Yorkshire 5.
