  1. JRC is one for me there - always thought he was a talented player (albeit limited athletically), but he doesn't take shit from anyone. His attitude is bang on.
  2. If Broughton can't find 3-4 quality attacking players on frees for the £40k+ wages that are (hopefully) walking in the summer in Brereton-Diaz, Dack and Ayala then unfortunately he's not worth his salary.
  3. He's not daft - he'll have walked onto Brockhall in his first training session and thought "yep, this squad is 4+ transfer windows away from competing". He's stuck true to that vision, albeit he was badly let down in the 2nd transfer window (I thought the 3 permanent signings we brought in during the summer were excellent).
  4. Personally I enjoyed grinding out wins pre-World Cup. I've also enjoyed the football we've played post-World Cup... I just wish we'd signed a striker in January as it's made the last 6 months extremely frustrating. To me JDT has been a breath of fresh air - a manager that doesn't belittle his employer, that looks to promote and develop youth and takes the cup competitions seriously.
  5. No chance - both will have to rebuild their reputations elsewhere. Can see them both slinking off to full-time punditry work tbh.
  6. Radio Lancashire hate Rovers - I've never quite worked out why. I assume either our Comms / PR team are arrogant / difficult to work with, or a lot of the producers / presenters grew up as fans of other teams when Rovers were the big dog in the county and it's scarred them for life. My dad an I call it Radio PNE, they bloody love Preston.
  7. It's nothing to do with the 'project / model'. Mowbray and Venus never actually had a plan. By the time Broughton and JDT got here it was too late to sell Brereton-Diaz - last year of his contract and very little time to find a replacement, we're in a relegation battle without his goals. He'd agreed a Bosman by the time January came around. I have a love-hate relationship with Ben - as one of the few people on here that saw a player in him during the early days it's been gratifying to watch him score 40+ goals over the last few years. In the same vein it was infuriating to see him go into his shell during the last 6 months after signing his new deal with Villarreal when we were desperate for his goals. Like Travis, to me he's a Mowbray stalwart that doesn't fit the new system we're playing, so I think ultimately we'll be better off without him, but I sure would have liked £10m+ to rebuild the team.
  8. He's the epitome of a confidence player, he only turned up against Millwall after he scored his first goal - which fell very kindly for him. After that he was brimming with confidence again and actually wanted the ball.
  9. I'd like to see Buckley alongside A. Wharton as the starting pair in CM next season.
  10. He left us with no strikers. He also had nothing to do with the development of Carter, Joe Rankin-Costello and Adam Wharton who have all come to the fore this season and been key contributors. I have nothing but disdain for the man.
  11. I think Broughton tried to do business in the January transfer window, he was just hamstrung by inept Senior Management (the Club Secretary or the CEO, take your pick) and his own naivety. Hopefully he learns from it as he's very inexperienced at the new role.
  12. The Armstrong money probably filled the hole left by the Gallagher and Brereton-Diaz transfers.
  13. Yes, that Sunderland squad is more talented than the squad Mowbray left behind.
  14. Wouldn't that be a thing - the manager allowed to sign a striker.
  15. I actually think Brereton-Diaz unbalances the side. With a good summer of recruiting (without spending much money on transfers) we won't miss him in the slightest - I just don't know if we're going to have that summer. There are much better players out there on frees and loans. We need 3 of them upfront to go alongside Szmodics.
  16. Massively agree to disagree. We absolutely battered them. Pears gifted them two goals, otherwise it would have been a rout.
  17. Nothing magic about a L1 GK not being able to stop anything. Brighton should be done for match fixing here. I'd be livid if I was in the relegation fight.
  18. I mean if we'd just had Amad Diallo on loan on the RW this season we'd be in the Playoffs.
  19. He's asked for caution and patience all season - partly to avoid the situation he finds himself in now with fans blaming him for failing to get into the Playoffs with a squad that isn't up to it. I'm very excited about next season if he stays and is backed - sadly it's Venky's Rovers so neither of those things will happen.
  20. He's never referred to us as 'little Rovers' - he's always been very forthright about the quality of the squad at his disposal. If anything he's talked us up as a great club with a fantastic history.
  21. Is Batty anywhere near ready? I know he picked up an injury this year, but he's not featured at all for the First XI.
