  1. The spin of giving Mowbray credit for Lenihan, Nyambe and Raya is superb. Like Yardley with his spin after the game yesterday, "this team never gives up". Someone needs to tell him we have picked up 5 points from losing positions this season.
  2. Unfortunately it's because in the press Gigg's brother is classed as a "nobody" so it's quickly swept under the carpet. Completely different story when your doing it to your international teammate. Anyway, even taking all bias out of it, Shearer has to be the first inductee into this, and you probably can't argue with Giggs as number two.
  3. Yes of course. Results like this happen, hell we beat Newcastle twice the year we got relegated to league one and they won promotion easily. It wasn't necessarily the Stoke game that bothered me, I think it's the overriding frustration that we have played all the bottom 7 at home, and only won 2 of them.
  4. It concerns me that we might have a right hand side of Bennett & Gallagher on Saturday.
  5. Yeah I think the above is fair. If we're still 2/3 points off before we play Leeds on the 4th April then of course it's all to play for in the last 6 games. Anymore than that and it will be too much I think.
  6. Surely you have been watching Mowbray long enough to know the answer to that? I'd rather we go with that Carter lad who has been on the bench, sometimes you have to go throw these lads in at the deep end. I just think this is the way Mowbray will go, unless he rushes Williams back which he did kind of hint at in his post match interview.
  7. Bennett at right back and Nyambe centre half is what I think he'll do.
  8. Gallagher at right wing is becoming the new Bennett at right back. Why we insist on having one rediculous out of position player in the side is beyond me.
  9. Pretty poor that is, and confirms what I have always thought about a Mowbray side, go a goal down and you might as well go home.
  10. I don't usually bother with night games anymore but making an effort for tonight. My local has a minibus going up, so I'll be travelling up with 15 Stoke fans which should be an absolute hoot ? I have a feeling it has draw written all over it, but I'm slightly more confident of this one than Saturday.
  11. Sorry Joe, but I don't think they are similar players at all. Buckley to me, seems to be someone that will float about in the "number 10 role" keeping the ball in tight situations, looking for a killer pass, and pretty much being someone who will retain the ball, and maybe look to get the odd goal.He doesn't strike me as someone who will beat a man and get away from him, and looks like he's quite slow. I think he's a younger version and probably a lot more similar to Holtby than Rothwell. Rothwell to me is a bit of an outlet, you can give him the ball in your own half and he has the ability to carry it to the oppositions box beating a few along the way, he's very quick and could probably operate on either flank. ideal for a counter attacking game away from home. The stats thing you posted doesn't really add up either. I could say that Smallwood & Rothwell have scored the exact same amount of goals in Rovers colours, so it must mean they are quite similar players. They aren't.
  12. Tell me about it, living near to Stoke these buggers have become close to being my Burnley over the last decade. Not much interest in tomorrow's game from that lot, or the one last season but before that (especially the cup tie) they all seemed to get really giddy about going to Ewood for some reason. I think it will be tough, hopefully squeeze past them 1-0 or something, I just have a feeling that Saturdays game at home against Swansea might then be a step too far and we'll draw or lose effectively ending our play off push. But we'll see.
  13. Yeah that's fair. I just think its about time we beat Wigan. I don't think Luton are moving from Kenilworth road anytime soon though, so hoping they are already down by the time we go there if theres anything to play for.
  14. Yeah I'm with Matty, something like the above would be perfect for us. I can't see any redevelopment happening anytime soon though.
  15. I've had a quick look through the rest of the fixtures, and have us finishing on exactly 70 points, not sure that will quite be enough for the play offs but you have to say it is progress. Stoke - W Swansea - D Derby - L Bristol City - D Wigan - W Barnsley - D Leeds - D Cardiff - L WBA - L Milwall - W Reading - W Luton - W Of course, I'm probably well off ?
  16. I think if us and the Dingles win our next FA youth cup games we play each other. Be absolute panic at the thought of it, but I remember the two games in 2012 (?) were great atmospheres played in front of decent crowds, with not a hint of bother.
  17. Or a deflating one after throwing away a 2 goal lead. I thought we did ok for the most part, and a point is a good result on paper. Thing is though I just can't be "happy with a point" after being 2-0 up, and the day I am is probably when I'll decide to pack it all in to be honest. It's 2 points dropped, especially with Preston winning. This time next week we'll have a good idea whether we're in the running or not I think.
  18. The next two home games will define how the run in goes I think. If we are serious contenders we have to win both.
  19. I'm more concerned about the two home games that follow rather than today. The Bristol City away win followed by two horrible performances in the two home games that followed is still deeply entrenched in my memory.
  20. Still think a "slow build" in this league is a complete myth. Just because someone has been in this league for 10 years, and then gets promoted doesn't mean they have had a slow build to promotion. Sometimes, everything just aligns for that certain club to go up, a consistent 11 where everyone is organised and knows there jobs, a few of the "bigger clubs" having off seasons, hitting form at a good time and picking up momentum etc.
  21. I haven't a clue to be honest, I don't know how it would logistically work but I thought it sounded a good idea, although I certainly think it would have an effect on full season ticket holders as its clear that quite a lot don't bother with midweek games.
  22. 100 Appearances must trigger something in his contract I'm guessing, similar to Downing's contract at Middlesbrough last season. Unless it is of course a coincidence.
  23. A couple of the clubs local to me now, Port Vale and Macclesfield offer "Flexi season tickets" that are eligible for 8, 12 or 15 games which ever option you take up.
