  1. But who’s going to be creating it? Most fans now left won’t have much truck with a ‘toxic’ atmosphere. ‘It’s the first day FFS, just get behind ‘em’.
  2. Totally agree with the sentiment, however we’ve got to a stage where the owners and manager are the most popular they have ever been this past decade - so considering we could never get mass protests in 2011 or 2016 (when Venky’s and Kean/Coyle were actually unpopular) going, then we’ve no chance now. Going to be death by a thousand cuts.
  3. Is it buggery ‘nonsense’, charming way to discuss matters too. As have I, midweek games and the like. They’d often fill one and attempt to fill a second, if they couldn’t, they’d cancel. One Away Travel trip for us got cancelled to a Tuesday night at Watford back in 2001, we rang around and my long standing relationship with the Birdy Bus was formed. The club was a much better institution in every way back then, but these things can happen. However, we have never not had a single official coach on sale just a week before the first away game of the season on a Saturday afternoon.
  4. And two of the 5 (4? BB is pushing it) non-English players came through our academy. Can’t be another squad in the top two (maybe top three even?) divisions that contains only two players that are either non English or not home grown?
  5. For a Tuesday night at Plymouth etc in January, maybe. But not one coach even booked, never mind on sale, just over a week before the first away game of the season is something that has ‘always happened’? Don’t think so.
  6. Yep, still bombproof with a hell of a lot of fans. I’ve never known such a mediocrity be so staunchly supported for so long.
  7. From the moment he came out with the utterly bizarre statement that ‘I had to tell the owners to slow down’ I knew that getting the best results possible on the pitch was not the modus operandi of this manager - just not normal, why was he here, and why has this dragged on so long?
  8. Screen-grabbing the screen-grabber, sure he won’t mind 🙂 Just a bloody mess, isn’t it.
  9. Of course, targets come and go, watch a few episodes of that Sunderland documentary to see what a madhouse transfer windows can be at clubs in a big a mess as us.
  10. It was the fella (Jon Holden) that sells vintage ones outside the ground that tweeted it. Absolute aficionado, so if anyone has had a tip off…
  11. Yep, thought so…
  12. Chaddy, read between the lines for once in your life, good god.
  13. Good local firm (Ronset) printed them too, I think. I know they did a lot of other stuff for the club. Watching a grand old institution that was pulled up by its bootstraps by Jack, after decades of local businessmen doing everything it could for the club, now atrophying rapidly under individuals that couldn’t give a toss. It’s horrible to witness.
  14. Whatever happened to ‘Les’ who was phoning around season ticket holders to see if they’ll be back? Swag will presumably be ‘looking into’ his findings… whilst deleting the document.
  15. Sounds as if a hard copy match day programme is the next for the chopping block.
  16. It’s still shockingly poor organisation to have a skeleton staff working on what, with STs, hospitality and new kits etc is probably the busiest week of the year for sales
  17. Won’t be furthering his career though…
  18. Until Hartlepool just got back up, the last few years has seen just THREE league clubs in the whole of the north east of England - in contrast there’s about 15 league clubs in a 40 mile radius of Blackburn So of course Sunderland have a sizeable catchment area to draw from, not sure how that equates to being more ‘passionate’ than anyone else. Indeed it makes old/real Lancashire by far the biggest heartland of the game.
  19. I would think so. We always get a higher than standard crowd on the opening day due to a bigger number of walk ons than on a normal Saturday, that will be amplified post an 18 month absence. West Brom on the 21st will give us a better idea on how bad it’s going to be in home areas this season.
  20. So let me get this straight. On the final Saturday before we kick off with a home fixture (in the middle of the holiday season too), the club shop - that has just put on sale two well received new shirts, AND also doubles up as the ticket office (with the club scrambling to sell even a semi-respectable number of STs) was shut? Let’s face it, we are a million miles away from a competitive Championship set up in every department.
  21. Third division Bolton now with 10,000 sold… double Blackburn Rovers. Not a lot more to say, is there.
  22. Wasn’t aware that driving them out of town with pitchforks was ever ‘my way’? Just a normally run football club was all I’ve ever wanted, I’d have been delighted for these owners to provide it, I’ve always held out hope they would eventually come to their senses. But good to see you’ve realised you had your pants pulled down like the rest of us… just took you a fair bit longer.
  23. So you are relived we can still pay the leccy bill. Fair enough, not sure that was the barometer of success you outlined for this regime in 2011 when you were taking the piss out of those with grave concerns, but hey ho.
  24. I’m asking about the state of the club now, not some hypotheticals.
  25. So… ten years on, remembering that you ridiculed those with grave concerns about the direction of the club. Opinion on the state of Blackburn Rovers, ES?
