Southgate is the perfect manager for the FA. Typical yes man blazer. Articulate, finger on the Twitter pulse when it comes to discussing the social issues of the day in pressers, I imagine he goes down well with corporate sponsors and other ‘stakeholders’ on Zoom calls... which is surely the most important thing 😏

Other football league 2020/21 season

From the club statement... ““We want them to be playing aggressive football both with and without the ball, and have a right good go at these remaining 11 games. ” 😁 -
Since when is 4 out of 10 people in favour a majority? Voluntary polls on Twitter are notoriously unreliable and worthless, we’ve no idea who is voting and what their connection to Rovers is - see any poll on who will be getting voted for in elections and who actually wins as further evidence of the pointlessness of social media polling to gauge sentiment. Twitter is skewed to a younger, more tech savvy demographic than our support base (certainly our paying customer base), so it’s entirely unrepresentative, as unrepresentative as any other social media platform.

‘Defensive rigour’... “I don’t have time to work on set pieces” 🤔 -
Mowbrays Successor
Mattyblue replied to Darwen Rover 007's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Managers and footballers go where the jobs are, and these days many don’t even move house, so ‘Neil liking the north west’ means bugger all - Mowbray lives on Teesside, as have a load of players in recent years. Bradley Johnson commutes from Derby. Dyche lives in Northants Benitez managed Newcastle from The Wirral Gerrard still lives in Liverpool. A good job is a good job and football people are mercenaries with unstable employment, so plenty will work anywhere. -
The Ryan Nyambe Appreciation Thread

I imagine it is because Namibia borders South Africa (with its variant). -
I suppose it is, but they do it willingly and with eyes wide open from previous stings.

Indeed, it was never ‘naivety’. Putting full trust in people that are clever enough to put the hard yards in with them in building personal relationships is how they operate, accordingly they are then given the keys to the castle - that’s simply their approach to business, as ridiculous and potentially ruinous it may seem to us...

I’m not particularly arsed who’s running things or what title they have, just strikes me as anything but transparent that the main man at the club, indeed the only person with executive power by the sounds of it, is completely in the shadows - that isn’t the norm with foreign owned clubs.
-
It obviously suits their purposes to have this opaque structure. But it shows a total lack of respect to the institution and fans to operate in this cloak and dagger way, and leads to the lack of trust and connection that we have with the football club - case in point, Brockhall. Just very depressing.

‘Board member’ that ‘runs the club’, is he? Yet... not listed as a director at Companies House, is that not a corporate governance issue? https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/00053482/officers

Be that as it may, TM still shouldn’t be anywhere near executive appointments. Totally dysfunctional.

Owners based on the other side of the world asking a football coach who they should appoint as a Chief Executive for one of their businesses. We’ve no chance, have we...

Thought I’d nip onto the local Newcastle rag’s website to see what the mood music is up there. Full of how Bruce ‘must go’, the ‘players are a disgrace’ - and that’s just the journalists! Interesting just how craven our local press is in comparison. Though when you now have one Editor running four papers (LT, Bolton News, Bury Times, Oldham Times), no newsroom, sub editors or printers left in east Lancs, it’s no surprise that they need to be firmly up the club’s arse...

We obviously were doomed as the season ended in relegation, but it certainly wasn’t an impossible task by any means if even Coyle had that team only three points adrift and TM had a third of a season left.
-
Three points from safety with 15 games to go when he was appointed. Bit of a stretch to call a team in that situation, ‘doomed’, no?

Labour would win every election by a landslide if it was conducted just with regular Twitter users. Totally unrepresentative and means bugger all, so I’m not worried about that poll at all. In fact considering how uber positive Twitter is in regards to the club these days, the fact that only 4/10 are in favour isn’t particularly impressive for Waggott...

Didn’t realise it was that taxing being a centre half here, you get to spend most of the game watching it being passed around our midfield...
-
Yet if we ever do scrappily win a game results are suddenly all that matter, it’s all “we put the points in the bag and move on”... Duplicitous our Honourable Tone? Never!

No idea either way over Pasha’s whereabouts, but does amuse me that some folk are still under the impression that the Rao’s have some sort of Eye of Sauron over the club.
-
TM and Swag will be taking the Minus 1 Goal Handicap league table to Pune then, I take it?
-
How do you know that?
-
Why the difference? I’m speaking generally here and there are exceptions, obviously, but my view is that a lot of folk on Facebook/Twitter (especially younger ones) I would call Rovers ‘followers’. I.e they just want to watch the team, and don’t really give the club that much thought throughout the rest of the week, they aren’t particularly interested in the shenanigans that go on in football clubs and generally trust those in charge. So if the Chief Exec calls Brockhall ‘30 years old’, talks about ‘how a combined state of the art facility makes sense’, then why not trust him? This place you have to set up accounts to join just to talk about Blackburn Rovers and the regular contributors spend hours every day going into the minutiae of the football club, so there is that deeper connection and more ‘big picture’ viewpoint. I’d say most club forums are like this.
