  1. Amazed and a little dubious with the view that a large proportion of adults don’t know who the Queen’s husband was... maybe they thought it was Charles, he looks old enough.
  2. Over the top or not, suppose that’s up for debate. But the bold bit, really? Surely most adults have a fair idea who the fella was? Bit of a worry if they didn’t .
  3. It’s the Championship, certainly in with a chance of picking up a couple of wins out of those four, they do and it blows the whole thing wide open.
  4. Four consecutive home games against QPR, Coventry, Birmingham and Boro. Certainly a big chance to close the gap on the pack with those fixtures...
  5. ‘Put the positives in the bag and move on.’
  6. It’s a solitary win over a third of a season in a league that’s as evenly matched as the Championship, so a manager overseeing such a record certainly has nothing to crow about, odd games in which we put up a decent show, aside.
  7. No problem. Good to see you have now snapped out of your pedantry and are now discussing the matter at hand.
  8. Same Jim that always likes to say when the club is facing yet another crisis - ‘well what are you going to do about it?’ Yet when asked what he will be doing himself, ‘err nothing, I’m too old’ So Rev did get off his arse and ‘did something’, yet he still doesn’t want to discuss it and is being pedantic about semantics and derailing the thread instead. Odd.
  9. Being semantic here Jim. Of course he’s a journalist, presume he has NCTJ qualifications and his NUJ card. However, does he engage in investigative journalism, does he dig out stories from sources? The meat and drink to newspaper men of years gone by. I’d say no he doesn’t, as outside reporting and commenting on matches and pressers, there’s little else that I read that fits the title. But then again post the Kean era nobody at the LT has put their head above the parapet, so obviously an element of wings being clipped...
  10. In fairness to Sharpe, I’m unsure of how much of that is down to his limitations as a journalist and how much of it is down to editorial decisions not to rock the boat with the powers that be at Ewood, I.e losing access to games/pressers/Brockhall etc as without football coverage, what does the LT have left that drives sales and web traffic? Either way it means the best interests of Blackburn Rovers are ill-served.
  11. Local media is struggling, I’m not expecting All the President’s Men style exposes. But I won’t excuse the piss poor efforts of the LT, as a quick glance at the offerings of other local rags, tells me they still hold those in authority to account, still do a bit of digging. Not just a PR vehicle for whoever is pumping out press releases.
  12. The LT really is abysmal. Headline ‘How the story unfolded’ Great, a bit of digging, highlighting of links to other strikingly similar projects elsewhere in the UK with the same actors and a few tales from the inside, a nod to the work of Rev et al. But no, literally just a copy and paste job of the ‘articles’ from the last month or so - articles that themselves were just a copy and paste of club press releases. Certainly no ‘journalism’ has taken place this past couple of months. A disgrace to the long standing values of local journalism - to investigate and publish in the public interest - the whole raison d’etre of the local press. The fact they wouldn’t even touch ‘the letter’ says where they stand and if anything like this rears it’s head again, it has to be ‘new’ forms of media to focus efforts on. https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/19223932.story-unfolded-rovers-controversial-brockhall-plans/
  13. ‘See what the summer brings’ isn’t as bullish as he’s been previously about still being in the job next season. Though that may be because even he thinks ‘I can’t survive this, I wouldn’t anywhere else’, not that the cretin owners are actually planning a change.
  14. So he was lying this week then and he doesn’t have post match chats where they discuss Gallagher out wide and all the rest of his tactical master strokes?
  15. End of the day a sizeable potion of our fanbase have always been embarrassingly naive, we’ve seen it throughout this era. Clough is a prime example of it, taking the claptrap he reads from ‘the club’ at face value instead of using his eyes and reading between the lines (obviously he fit in well at the LT with that mindset). Luckily we still have plenty more like Rev et al that does the heavy lifting for them.
  16. Lying earlier this week then, was he? “I talk about the games to them, what they saw, they don’t like to lose as I don’t like to lose, but they see the team performing at a level.”
  17. The mental gymnastics you go through for Tone is something to behold.
  18. Bang on. Though striking that it had to be fans picking up the baton and doing the investigative job of spineless local ‘journalists’
  19. If we see certain individuals also removed in coming days, then ‘conspiracy theory’, it wasn’t.
  20. Possibly, certainly something to be cognisant of if this shower remain in situ. But the fact it’s been withdrawn as quickly as it was proposed will hopefully mean there’s more removals to come.
  21. Is that not just a face saving statement as it’s kicked into the long grass?
  22. Did you? I assumed you believed Rovers aren’t attractive because we are a basket case club. That won’t bother foreign managers as they often work for nutters. We won’t be ‘down the queue’ as you put it, as we wouldn’t get our act together to be in the queue to start with.
  23. There’s a difference between being able to attract said managers, I think we can; pay, status, facilities, pay decent wages for players, and if the club is set up to discover them in the first place and then go and get them, which we probably aren’t.
  24. I’m not talking particularly about that example, as I imagine after the Europa run they’ve been on he will have turned heads across Europe. But more generally Championship outfits can attract managers from clubs that are ‘big European names’ that play outside the top leagues, purely because of how little money there is in those smaller European countries.
