  1. Didn’t stop Wes...
  2. Are we now the third club in Accy for season ticket holders? Something you wouldn’t have believed possible a decade ago...
  3. There’s an element of that ‘99 as Sharpe often recycles the quotes from one interview over about 5 days of copy to fill a week of the LT sport pages, not that he’s suddenly picked up a finalised decision on next season . Not sure how particularly well connected he is anyway within the inner echelons of the club, but there’s certainly no rumblings of any sacking.
  4. But it won’t. Many fans only see “Venky’s pump another x million into the club”, so ergo that alone makes them good owners, they are totally blind to the wilful neglect of the club and its total stagnation.
  5. https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/19249857.mowbray-lead-rovers-summer-pretty-big-change/?fbclid=IwAR35VGE7b9mCIzshZdQZQcQ56DPLEf5ykVbXet5GeXEvBHrAZf-1eknHwWg Was it ever in doubt? The ONLY club where results don’t matter. The last week has shown that this is now the ONLY club in England where the views of supporters do not matter one iota either - their prerogative, I suppose, but a complete collapse in ST sales and revenues will be the result with a return to the third division most likely. A shameful spectacle.
  6. Just like the ‘individuals’ at Bolton and Wigan (and Bury) were punished instead... oh.
  7. Mr Humble won’t lower himself to manage in League 1 again. Remember when we were down there and he kept saying how his ‘methods’ were much more suited to the Championship and how much he disliked the third tier?
  8. Agree with that, the body language (Venus too) and comments really are pathetic - and it’s rubbing off on the players, who look like they’d rather be anywhere else. He is as good as begging to be paid off and looks bemused that he hasn’t already. All this about ‘journeys’, ‘identity’ are just buzz words and excuses, he obviously can’t be arsed in putting the graft in to totally re-build the side and he doesn’t have the capability to actually achieve it anyway. Though as always, shame on the owners for their total neglect of this football club.
  9. He’s quickly changed his tune, from that article... ‘I've always been a 'glass half full' character, which in many cases has blinded me and my immaturity but I'd like to think I have the intelligence to assess a business model that's stalled in a period of stagnation and is teetering on the lubricious slope of decline.’ Yet he was waxing lyrical about the structure and stability of the club - in his view largely in place due to the Venky/Mowbray relationship, literally this week in the Sheffield local rag, for example - through Mowbray there has been a bridge. He has advised Venky’s on things, where investment is needed, and they’ve been happy to take it...a structure was brought in. ”
  10. Guardiola: ‘ Sport is not a sport when the relationship between effort and success does not exist. It is not a sport if you can't lose. It's not fair if a team fights to get to the top and success is only guaranteed for some. It's not sport if it doesn't matter if you lose. I've said many times I want the best competition as possible. It's not fair if teams fight at the top and cannot qualify.' Either he’s thinking of walking or he’s got the nod from Abu Dhabi to commence Operation U-Turn
  11. Is a business in which between 2000 to 50000 paying customers come through the gates fortnightly (and that’s before hospitality, sponsors etc) sustainable? Of course. But without doubt a ‘re-set’ of the game in which TV money is greatly reduced would leave a smouldering wreckage of insolvencies in the short to medium term, pretty much all due to the absolutely ridiculous wages paid out, often to bang average footballers.
  12. At the Uefa Congress, Fifa president Gianni Infantino says his organisation "strongly disapprove" of a European Super League. Yesterday we heard and read about war, crime, terrible worlds, even more terrible if linked with the game we all love, that should give joy to everyone," said Infantino. "I am speaking about the [European] Super League project. Let me be extremely clear, Fifa is an organisation built on true values of sport, statutes which define institutional framework with the pyramid. "We can only and strongly disapprove of a Super League which is a closed shop, breakaway from current institutions." Interesting, much stronger reaction from FIFA today than their slightly non-committal one yesterday...
  13. Never had a sniff of a coaching job back in the UK in a decade, so says it all how toxic he must be, and that’s saying something in this immoral industry. Yet, he made a fortune from us after being a mere cone and bib man , then a tax free job in oil rich Brunei, now a no doubt lovely lifestyle in Melbourne. Where did it all go wrong, ay?
  14. The tail well and truly wagging the dog... and of course, local journos paint it as totally normal. “There has been hostility and anger, but now through Mowbray there has been a bridge. He has advised Venky’s on things, where investment is needed, and they’ve been happy to take it.”
  15. He’s obviously furious that his employers have thrown him under the bus... Henry/Glazers/Abramovich need to be fronting up.
  16. I’m asking you a very simple question to explain why you are a supporter of it as you have gone off on a few tangents today (as have others, in fairness). Not sure how that is provocative...
  17. I’m asking you to succinctly, in one post, to put your point across to why this is such a good idea.
  18. Because that is the US model. And US owners are now trying to crowbar it into Europe. You’ve said plenty this last 24 hours. What point are you actually making from this hill you’ve chosen to die from?
  19. It sure has, though can you explain in a bit more detail how the Glazers et al are acting altruistically?
  20. You can’t ‘slow build’ in the Championship, there’s too much of an emphasis on a rapid turnover of players and managers. Loanees are a big part of most club’s set ups - the antithesis of a slow build when 4/5 players bugger off back to their parent club every June. Alas, we have owners that still fundamentally don’t understand the game, so such self serving BS keeps him in a job.
  21. Oh I get it now Richard. So it’s those against ‘the 12/15’ dismantling the entire structure of a 150 years of European football to ensure said clubs have unfettered access to billions of pounds, that are acting in self interest. Cheers for clearing it up, I couldn’t see the wood for the trees before...
