The Newsquest papers like the LT, Bolton News Etc know feck all. Marc Iles (Bolton local hack) was tweeting on Sunday morning that Luca Connell was going nowhere for the foreseeable, this was AFTER his move had already been announced on the Celtic website.

We obviously can ‘compete with Bristol City’ who have spent £8 million on the back of a £12 million windfall. We spent £7million on ‘potential’ on the back of selling nobody. Wrong priorities does not equate to no money.

Surely every poster on every football forum knows a summer transfer thread will be full of gossip, rubbish, over positive folk, over negative folk, ‘ITKers’, links to obscure sites linking us to player x,y,z, folk slagging off the ambition of the club, the inadequacies of the manager and on it goes. It was ever thus, certainly on brfcs. But for some reason this isn’t allowed when Mowbray is involved, he’s a nice fella, doing a decent job, but he ain’t immune to a slagging off on the Internet. So can we please stop with the daily arrival of his knights in shining armour telling people what is and isn’t acceptable to post.

With only 7 players turning up for pre season tomorrow (5 outfield players) and still no season tickets on sale, it will have to be some salvage job.

The problem with these articles is when was Mowbray interviewed? I was talking to a local journo once and he said to get them through the close season, a few lines from one interview back in May or whenever are drip fed each day for weeks to fill the back page. His thinking could’ve evolved again since (or not, which would be very worrying)

Keane has fantastic on pitch leadership qualities. For those 90 minutes he led by example. Totally different skill set to manage a team and staff daily and though I’ve obviously not seen him behind closed doors, he doesn’t seem to be cut out for that in the slightest.
