Summer transfer window 2021.
Gav replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
With the smallest squad in Blackburn Rovers recent history Mike, ask yourself, does that ring true to you? I've personally read Mowbray asking for contract extensions for players in the Lancashire Telegraph on more than one occasion, desperate stuff, but its clear they're turned the tap off and players will walk as a result, what a business model eh..... Paul Lambert wanted to use some of the Rhodes money (9m) to bring in new recruits and sign 4/5 players to new contracts, all refused by Venkys, this isn't anything new, its been going on for years and he walked away. In the past 18 months we've sold around £20m worth of assets, depending on which newspaper you read and we can't sign players to contracts? Venkys out -

No idea, but every Rovers fan knows we’ve struggled to keep clean sheets, we’ve all been crying out for quality defenders. Fingers crossed Wiz -

Yes. This has been the pattern since they took over, nothing has changed. Remember all the players they refused to play because of win bonuses, goals scored bonuses, play more than 20 games and a wage increase? Its exactly the same now, but on a much smaller scale than in 2011. -

How about every other manager over the past 10yrs? Same rules apply? -

Come on John, when in the history of Blackburn Rovers have we ever worked on that model? Clubs in dire financial strife like we are need assets to sell, Armstrong on a decent contract would have brought in more money, Nyambe on any sort of contract the same. Venkys have stopped Mowbray and Waggot securing new deals with players, they did the same with Bowyer, this isn't anything new, they're as thick as a bar top. Venkys out. -
Notts v Hampshire T20 tonight was a fantastic game, just brilliant. Somerset v Lancs tomorrow night, what a day of cricket we have in store.

Sorry Dmtp but that’s nonsense with the greatest of respect. Pay the players we want to keep decent contracts, it’s as simple as that, protect your assets, FFP doesn’t come into it really. Venkys have turned off the tap, they’ve refused to pay extensions to contracts many times over the past 10yrs, this isn’t anything new. -

Not allowing us to extend current players contracts is just another example of how those idiots in Pune simply don’t get it. It’s been happening since day 1, it can’t just be bad advice…… Venkys out. -

The biggest problem with the side for many years has been we can't keep a clean sheet. Despite the excellent start to the season, Mowbray is doing the right thing here, we are crying out for quality cover in the centre of defence and he's addressing that. If you don't concede goals you don't lose games, tried and tested. -
I don’t think anyone saw this coming, India have dominated the first 2 tests and should be 2 up. Lets get 450/500 and make this 1-1.

I think he'll reveal that he was on the Aldi Champagne last night, that is the only reason I can think of for posting that utter garbage above. -

They have changed course Matty, they've gone back to not signing players to contracts like they did so well earlier in the tenure. Mowbray has brought in around £15m in player sales in the last 18months, but its not enough to get anyone decent through the door or sign current players to contracts, why? The debt stands at £150+ Mowbray isn't responsible for that as Revidge would have us believe, nor is he responsible for selling the training ground, the owners have to sanction that, end of story. Maybe we can look forward to another Henning Berg (lasted 57 days and ended up in High Court - £2.5m payout) or maybe a Michael Appleton (67 days). Suspensions in the boardroom, Shaw and Agnew, Singh the Tv pundit giving team talks and buying player from Portugal, Ronaldinho playing number 10 even? Sadly no chance of Diego taking over....... No, they've been badly advised, they'll come good......The futures bright, the futures Venky Blue and White 🤬 -

Didn’t you tell the site we’d be lucky to clear 7m for Armstrong? On the same day you told us you’d rather have Coyle than Mowbray? Every media outlet has the Armstrong deal at £15+ Some as high at £20m with add-ons. As for Owen Coyle, I need say no more….. -

That will be a nicko exclusive by tomorrow morning 😃 -
I'm sorry Exiled but that rosy picture you're painting isn't what anyone in my experience is actually seeing in practice and never will be under these owners, but I hope you're right and we are wrong. The squad is threadbare, contracts unsigned, scouts sacked, no staff to run the club shop, all cost cutting measures, we're back to the Blackburn Rovers of mid 80's, 2nd class stamps and running away from the milk man. Its a sorry state of affairs, they're running the club into the ground bit by bit and that will never change until the owners leave, regardless of who the manager is.
-
Matter of opinion my friend, I disagree of course, no problem with that.
-
I’m sorry Exiled but I’m astonished by that remark. What makes you think, that after 10yrs of neglect, downgrading and general mismanagement, this club, with a new manager, could make that leap to the Premiership?
-
As Owen Coyles chief cheerleader you’ve more front than Blackpool.
-
Are you watching a different game to me Exiled? That partnership between Lenihan and Ayala is the best I’ve seen in years at this early stage, shows real promise, compare that to last season or the season before? Really promising for me.
-
Great post, no more needs saying.
-
That lad works his socks off, is your seat facing the pitch? West Brom are quite simply on another level, premiership money and all that, they'll go up this season, we put up a decent fight and matched them at times. But keep blaming the manager, then the next manager, then the next, whilst ignoring the Balaji in the room.
