  1. You leave Revidge and Mercer alone, have some respect please Sparks πŸ˜‰
  2. If only football was a simple as that J*B? Kenny had the biggest budget ever for a 2nd division club and just about sneaked into the playoffs in 6th place, nobody complained (Actually my dad did) and the rest is history. Derby and Wolves both had massive financial backing back then too and never reached the heights we did, which just goes to show money guarantees nothing in football, but in todays game its certainly more of a factor than back then. Some good debate on here but only 2 pages so far, that tells its own story sadly.....
  3. Never a penalty either.......
  4. @K-Hod Great gig last night at The Piece Hall, sets things up nicely for Heaton Park. Bernard Sumner, after 40yrs, has actually managed to find his singing voice, the band were on top form, which over the years hasn't always been the case.
  5. I'm going tonight, Halifax Piece hall, or is it somewhere in Rome?
  6. I had family that lived at Higher Croft and spent many hours in those fields dreaming of playing at Ewood one day. I used to watch the games from the hill when I was to young to attend and remember the scrap yard Asia. Jumpers for goalposts πŸ˜‰
  7. I have to take exception with this Herbie with the greatest of respect. Gordon Lee in 1975, Howard Kendal in 1980, fantastic seasons for the club and its supporters. The promotion from league one under Mowbray seems to be frowned upon on here rather than celebrated, thats not right, we are hardly blessed with promotions over the past 50yrs, lets not chalk them off as somehow below us. The Oxford game with 28,000 fans on Ewood was just brilliant, I never thought I'd see those numbers again, just superb for me.
  8. I'm not having anything bad said about any yellow kit, if nothing else they made for a great atmosphere away from home, regardless of what they looked like. "Yellow yellow yellow"
  9. It was interesting that many Utd fans and media outlets sighted Cantona jumping into the crowd at Palace as being the turning point in the title race when won it. I'd say the Shearer injury against Leeds on the program last night handed the title to United, had Alan stayed injury free we'd have won it that season too. Great days, they can't take away our memories and we will come again, once the Venkys sod off.
  10. RIP Michael K Willaims - Omar from The Wire has died. https://news.sky.com/story/michael-k-williams-the-wire-and-boardwalk-empire-actor-found-dead-aged-54-at-his-new-york-home-12400940
  11. The fans have always turned out in my opinion if the product on the pitch is worth the effort, its always been the case at Ewood and will remain so in future. What the fans also want is some pride back in the town and its football club, the club needs claiming back from Venkys. We need someone with a few quid who has a vision and ambition to buy the club and get him/them front and centre of a marketing campaign to claim the club back. Offer shares to future season tickets holders, put fans on the board, get the fan groups involved, hold events, create a buzz around the football club. Which manager would you look to put in charge, what would the budget be? Stadium redevelopment, old players involved, a promise not to sell the training ground, season tickets for Β£199 across the board, you get the picture. You don't have to officially own the club to get momentum going, but you do have to be a Rovers fans in my opinion, or the desire would soon be tested with Venkys ignoring you month after month. The town and its football club need some pride back, watching the Premiership program last night showed what once was Ewood and it can be again if we get rid of these owners.
  12. Yes couldn't agree more den. I guess the positives are that Burns and Hammed got runs 2nd time around, looked comfortable for long parts and Pope scored an excellent 81 in the first innings, he could be a good un that lad.
  13. I think the naivety comes from the fact that after an abysmal end to the season, Mowbray is still in post. If the rumours back in April were true, said managers have been available all summer, yet we still have Mowbray at the helm? Even allowing for 1 shared brain cell in Pune, thats a stretch Mercer, regardless of whether or not you or anyone else believes Neil was approached earlier this year.
  14. India are the number 1 test side in the world at the moment in my opinion and after 5 days of enthralling cricket they just came out on top. Some indifferent batting today, some superb bowling by the Indians, we move to Old Trafford to save the series. Test match cricket at its best for me, the lifeblood of the game, thoroughly enthralling from start to finish.
  15. I hear Mastermind has a spare chair Ian πŸ˜‰
  16. A very good friend of mine, season ticket holder, spoke to him recently, incidentally it was at the same event where he spoke to Lambert after he'd resigned in 2016 and got the reason why he walked. I have no idea if we put the feelers out for a new manager in April, reading between the lines we never did, but we certainly never went near Neil, thats for sure.
  17. He didn't turn us down, he was never approached and neither was his agent, straight from the horses mouth only last week. He was never approached earlier this year, it was BS.
  18. Hideous and it clashed with Hendrys hair....
  19. Given ourselves to much to do chaddy I fear, but looking forward to it.
  20. Why didn't they move? Why did Obafemi turn us down? Why did Reach (Not a striker I know) turn us down? Why are players refusing to sign contracts? We're offering 3 milk tokens and handful of magic beans over 3yrs, nobody will sign for that. The tap has been turned off chaddy and I'm sure Man City haven't gotten rid of the European scouting network because of brexit. Nobody understand why this lot bought the club, why this lot have run the club into the ground, so god knows why they gave Mowbray money for 2 strikers, trying to second guess them is a pastime I gave up years ago booth...
  21. They've always gambled on strikers and won mostly if taken in isolation, Armstrong alone paid for Gallagher and Ben Diaz, but they neglect every other part of running a football club. Why did every striking target go to another club in the last window? Why are we unable to offer contracts to player we want to keep? Why have we just sacked the European scout? Why did we try and sell half the training ground? Does it sound like a club with a few quid in the bank? I just hope it some sort of exit strategy and the Pune stooges are about to exit the club.
  22. You’re quite right Hasta, but all the points still stand, regardless of who the manager is.
  23. I've long given over caring who the manager and CEO are, but I did have a particular dislike of Coyle who told porkies in his very 1st press conference about SEM and it never improved from the day on, that man was robbing a living. I don't think its any coincidence he's now managing in the Indian Super League either..... Coyle was appointed because he was cheap, cheaper than Warnock who won promotion with Cardiff the year after I think it was. Mowbray is here because he's cheap, Waggot is here because he's also cheap in football CEO terms, I know plenty of local CEO's on more money than he is, you pay peanuts you get monkeys. We signed no strikers in the window because we're skint and the owners want to do it on the cheap. Players are out of contract because we're skint and we want to do everything on the cheap. We have no European scout because we're skint, we want to do everything on the cheap, the ground looks neglected because we're skint, we want to do everything on the cheap. The club shop is closed a week before the season kicks off, full of new shirts, because we're skint and they want to everything on the cheap, I could go on...... Venkys out.
  24. They must be really disappointed with the start we've made, the team seems galvanised, pulling together, its not the part of the Venky plan clearly πŸ˜• Venkys out.
  25. We have tickets for the Saturday at Old Trafford, be good to get back to some live action, it’s been a while.
