  1. Some really warm words for Southgate tonight from across the country, pundits, players, managers, politicians, royalty and fans, all paying tribute to the man and the job he’s done in restoring pride back into the national side. I wish him nothing but the best of luck for the future.
  2. We took our largest away following in Europe to Feyenoord, maybe thats why he felt penned in. It was a segregated area of course, our seats were in the top tier, its was fenced in with perspex. the bottom was more open. All the European away trips are a little over the top on the policing front and segregation, but the most trouble I've seen was Rovers fighting Rovers in Leverkusen and some handbags with the police in Lyon. Great trips, great memories, those bastards in Pune can't take those away.
  3. I'm not a fan of picking the best club manager at the time to come into the national fold, its not worked before for England and doesn't work in general. Spain have just won the Euros with a Spanish manager most have ever heard of, Argentina won the last world cup with Scaloni, another manager most had ever heard of. What do these managers have in common? They both came through the national coaching ranks, like Southgate, food for thought maybe...
  4. The guy commands £15-£20m a year, has just left Liverpool in some part due to the pressure, can’t see that happening Herbie.
  5. Not unexpected, he looked like his race had been run, but what a ride, the fans that actually follow the national team to the tournaments will be sad to see him go I'm sure.
  6. Lets hope Southgate stays on then: WC 2018 - Semi Final Euro 2020 - Final WC 2022 - Quarters Euros 2024 - Final
  7. Most of those leagues you mention have all just been won by foreign managers.....just sayin. We've tried foreign managers before, neither could get us near a final. In Capellos case the players actually revolted mid-tournament as he didn't understand how to manage English players, it was a disaster, especially for the fans who had paid good money to travel to SA. But you do make a good point on the talent pool of English managers, like the player pool, its getting smaller and smaller due to the spending power of the Premiership clubs and that ability to sign the best players in the world, many of them are not English, which tells its own story. All that said, we need to stick to a domestic manager for me, someone who understands the country, the fans and our history.
  8. Interesting comments on Walker, arguably our best player in the tournament, saved us countless times with his pace, but I guess you're looking at his age and will he lose his legs? He'd be first on my team sheet for USA world Cup, if he maintains his current form. Kane has 36 goals domestically this season in a tough league which Bayern didn't win, the most goals of any player in Europe. He's been an easy target this campaign due to the role he played for the team, lack of support and very few chances, yet shared the golden boot! But I agree, in the current system he looked a shot player, but what a player he's been if he hangs up his boots for England.
  9. He was born here I believe, but qualified for Ireland having had a pint of Guinness once. He’s taking the same route as Southgate by being in charge of U21’s, but he doesn’t have the playing pedigree like Southgate has. Hardly inspiring is it? Keep Southgate for me if Carsley is the alternative.
  10. You should know by now to take everything said on here with a large pinch of salt chaddy. When push comes to shove, the FA and Southgate will decide the future, Gareth gets results, his tournament record is outstanding, but sadly we came up against a Spain side that reminded me of Man City at times, we just couldn't get the ball of them and no manager could have done anything different with this set of players to counter that Spain side last night. No foreign coach has ever won a world cup and only 1 has ever won the Euros, so if Gareth decides to leave its English only for me and that puts Eddie Howe in the hot seat if he'd leave Newcastle at best! Lets hope Gareth gives it another 2yrs until the next world cup.
  11. If Eustace got us to the next 2 playoff finals and we lost, would you be looking to sack him? Of course he should stay on, no other manager in the history of English football has got us to 1 Euro final, let alone 2!!
  12. History says it does matter. No foreign manager has ever won a World Cup.
  13. You’d know….. Hope you’re well pal 👍
  14. We’ve gone backwards since Mowbray left DE, but I take your point, nobody stands out, who you thinking?
  15. Phenomenal effort by Southgate, he’ll be kept on if he wants the job, no doubt about that. He took over England when we’d been knocked out in 2016 by Iceland, posters on here have short memories.
  16. And a European cup final 👍 You’d be watching songs of praise now if it wasn’t for Kanes goals
  17. Englands to scorer? We’d not be here tonight if it wasn’t for his goals.
  18. Let’s not underestimate the quality of this Spanish side.
  19. Kane has 3 goals, important goals, we wouldn’t be here without those goals.
  20. Berlin sounds like Wembley. Got a good feeling about tonight, fancied us right from the group stages, let’s finish this off and bring the trophy home.
  21. First 5 minutes we need someone to put Lamine Yamal over the touchline, a real crunching tackle, let him know who we are and where we come from, that will set the tone and let him know we won't be fooked around and he should have stayed in school. Come on England.
  22. Absolutely spot on M_B. Far to many posters on here trying to win the argument rather than looking at the facts. Southgate's record is phenomenal, better than every other England manager in the history of the game. Come on England.
