Beat Welling away 3rd round. Then Beat 1st Division Sheff Weds at home, Wednesday wore an awful green away kit if memory serves me correctly. Then lost to 3rd division Brentford....... I don't recall many games where I was more devastated to be honest Cherry Blue. The height of my ambition in those days was to see us play in an FA Cup semi final at a neutral ground.....Gutted. -

Lost to 3rd division Brentford in FA Cup at Ewood 1988/89. I was devastated, really felt we'd make the semi-finals at least that season. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F2-szKHuYIM -
I'm sure every club in this league are aspiring to create the Brentford model, or at least the ones who are not relying on the Premiership £££££. One of the reason we want to keep the training ground in tact is to bring our own players through the academy and sell them on if necessary. John Williams told us time and time again this was the way forward for Blackburn Rovers and he wasn't wrong.

I think with £20m me and you could have us challenging tomphil. I'll drop Waggott an email 👍

Are we looking to extend that contract JH? I've not seen anything in the press?

The hardest player to find is a goal scorer, no doubt about that in my mind, its always been the case. Without goals you don't win games, simple as that. I could never understand why posters wanted to sell Rhodes, a 20+ a season goal scorer, its made no sense. But....... If Venkys have crawled out from under the rock and told Mowbray he can sell Armstrong and spend the cash from the sale, as the manager I'd be looking to sell him as quickly as possible, especially if the numbers of £20m are correct. I don't know about FFP and how that would work, but if that cash can be reinvested in the playing side we'd have a slim chance of challenging the play off places next season.

Love this pic, you don't see many pics from this side of the ground, Infirmary in the distance also. Blackburn Rovers supporters queueing for tickets outside Ewood Park for the FA Cup 5th Round tie between Blackburn Rovers and Manchester City in Blackburn, England, circa February 1969

Seems to be all the rage these days CLB. Bob Dylan has just released archives with George Harrison, these come on the back of his sessions with Johnny Cash, great listening and some studio banter to boot. I know Joni Mitchell has released her archives too. Great artists, timeless. -
The fans have been taking this nonsense for 10yrs SG and will continue to do so, thats what football fans do, its in the blood, you can't get rid of it. But make no mistake, this club will never move forward under Venkys ownership, regardless of who the manager is, the past 10yrs tell us that and to expect anything different is living in a cloud cuckoo land in my opinion. We've had "would you welcome venkys back' thread, I was surprised to see how the mood had softened because they'd said nothing for 2 seasons, then we get the news about the training ground...... We are only ever 1 step away from disaster with Venkys running this club, until they go we stagnate and decline. Venkys Out.

@Sparks Rover The Mrs has binge watched this over the past few days whilst on annual leave, she said it was superb Sparks 👍

Its a good story yes. PM'd you.

You do know we are owned and run by Venkys don’t you? Its not my fault or your fault, but those are the facts and we’ll never improve as long as they’re running the show. Unless they go up they’re not competing with us, that’s the point, we’re all also rans Rev.
-
You don’t find the Royal Family funny now? It’s of it time? Really Sparks? Its timeless, I grew up in that household, even the wallpaper was the same.....
-
Really? Lets just say they're all examples of how you can compete, I'll give you 20 teams every year that fall short in the Championship. The original point was, Swansea received £100m+ in 2018. We lost £20m+ in the same season, and even more after that. If you think we can compete at the same level as the teams coming down from the Premiership then all credit to you. Its the hope that kills you, if you're still living in 1995 or 2005.....
