Brockhall STC - planning permission application ?

It's also a huge misconception that the users of this site don't represent the 'general fan' - one thats usually peddled by people that either: 1) don't enjoy the forum (which is fine) or 2) have previously been banned from the forum and now have an agenda. The forum usually receives - on a normal day, 700 individual hits from across the globe. Of which, usually, around 200 post, but the majority of the 700 are members with an 'active' account to post if they see fit. Each of those 700 people usually spend between 10-12 minutes browsing the forum each session, which is massive, a normal website gets between 30 seconds and 2 minutes. The people hitting over 2 minutes tend to come back two or three times a day for similar periods of time. There isn't another Rovers fan platform out there which has anything like those numbers. Imagine a twitter thread which has 200 people replying or a facebook post with that volume of interactivity. Anyways, thats enough justifying BRFCS.com. Which, for the record, is the longest going platform for Rovers fans, of which everyone is allowed an opinion, so long as they don't personally abuse other people. ;) -

Can we please stop suggesting members of staff are due to get financial benefits from this unless you’ve got cold hard evidence? I don’t want any legal problems. -

I’ve been speaking to a local property developer tonight - he thinks there’s much more money in this than has been discussed, although this is pure speculation and cannot be presented as fact The plans discuss 170 houses. As part of planning permission, some of these will need to be ‘affordable’ houses and he estimates a maximum of 250K for these and maybe 15 properties. After that - as long as there’s existing property within the Brockhall development, it’s a case of ‘build to match’. The most expensive property on Brockhall is currently 1.5M. That would give 155 houses that could be built to be 1.5M houses. That would be a poor decision, there isn’t the need for 155x 1.5M houses or probably enough space. When you look at the below image, there looks to be different plot sizes. Purely speculating we could be looking at: 15 @ 250K 60 @ 600K 40 @ 750K 30 @ 850K 25 @ 1.5M Giving a total ‘house’ value of the land at an eye watering £132.5M. -

That’s great - I’m glad you’re proud. Sadly, I’m not. I feel like the performances on the pitch show a lack of effort. The manager of the club is in self preservation and is attacking the fans. The management of the club are reducing the capacity of our training facilities. The fans are in turmoil with this ridiculous “left vs right” debate which is centred around the manager. The fans are taken for granted by the club both financially but also in intelligence. The club has made redundancies which could have been avoided putting local people out of work. There are still plenty of plus points, as you say. We’ve had local, Rovers supporting kids join the ranks and play for their club. The U18s are flying. The women’s team hold their own and do the badge proud. The Community Trust do some brilliant work. Sadly, for me, the bad outweighs the good. That doesn’t respect the legacy that Jack created. -

I’ll turn this one around to you - as it stands, are you proud of Blackburn Rovers? Before you answer, this includes: the performances on the pitch, the way staff talk in the media, the rapport between the fans, the performance of the academy and the future of it, the way the fans are treated by the club, the respect shown to the badge and the people of Blackburn. -

You don’t have to build on it. You can’t build on being the best team in the country. You need to maintain it. It’s the values that are important. We could finish 12th in League One and still maintain the majority of the values. -

Joe, I mean this will all due respect, but Jack’s legacy isn’t Rovers winning the league. I would assume you’re too young to really remember what Jack did? Jacks legacy is putting Blackburn on the map. It’s giving the fans pride in the club. It’s the commentators on TV saying “the most successful town football club in the world”. It’s giving local kids the opportunity to train at a superb academy and maybe one day, represent their town. They don’t necessarily need to be stars at Blackburn Rovers. Its about the soccer schools for local kids. The disability groups for local people. The women’s team, who are treated just like the men’s. It’s creating jobs and opportunities for local people - whether that be at the academy on reception, or the chippy on Bolton Road which makes a fortune on match day. Jack’s legacy on the pitch is about challenging the big boys, creating a mentality of managers, coaches and players proud to represent Blackburn and it’s people. Blackburn Rovers will never be Manchester United - but Jack’s motto was “think big” and there’s absolutely nothing to say, for 90 minutes, 11 men representing the town of Blackburn cannot defeat 11 men playing for Manchester United. Jack’s legacy is for the town, its bigger than the football club. -

It’s not about Jack’s legacy for me. If they’re telling me this is the only way to raise funding that we need and it doesn’t effect anything - currently - I can almost accept it. It’s the way they try (Management) treat the fans. This isn’t good news for the club, as they put in the statement. If it was good news they would have put out a statement the second it was viable, not after fans found the information. It’s clear from the brochure in this thread that indeed this is reducing the training capacity. If they had put out a statement admitting the club needed funding and they had found a way which would reduce capacity, but only because we currently don’t need the capacity, whilst bringing some much needing funds into the club, then invited the fans the be part of the discussion whilst they explored the possibility of selling the STC, it would be just about acceptable. We - as fans - accept we’re 200m in debt to Venkys. It’s the way they treat the fans that’s the problem. They’re totally disconnected with us. -

The biggest issue with all of this for me is it doesn’t leave room to upscale. Fine, we might not need the space or use it at the moment. But that land is prime. Once it’s sold, we will never have the opportunity to buy more - no money can buy it, there’s none left. By selling the STC we are limiting the future of the club. -

Last warning - it’s Sunday, I’m walking my dog and my phone keeps beeping with reports on this thread. If you carry on attacking posters expect a ban. I don’t want to do it, but I do want to walk my dog. Lovely lattes at Spring Wood, by the way. -

Ok folks - just had to issue some bans, but I won’t hide the posts as it removes so much context. To be clear, @JoeH runs a small, local business and opts to sponsor the club. That is a good deed. We will accept questions to Joe on this relationship - and whether his opinion is changed because of it. We will not, under any circumstances, accept people attacking Joe because he sponsors the club. If you continue with personal attacks - at anybody - the moderators will issue bans. -

No getting around it now - those plans say we can get away with ~50% of the current pitches, plus combine the juniors with the seniors, in a space which is the same size as the current seniors building. A huge downscaling operation. -
Would Haughton come for money? I’m not sure. A better squad? I think theres something in DJ - but it would be a risk I admit.

I just can’t comprehend why Gallagher is playing right wing. We’re not playing especially bad but Gallagher is such an obvious weakness. Elliot should be in his place which would allow us a stronger body for the midfield battle. -
