v Sheffield Utd (a) - 23/2/22 - Match Preview

Top 6 looking very unlikely now. We've crashed and burned as usual at this stage of the season. We'll probably win the final few games of the season when the top 6 is out of reach. That's usually what we do. -

QPR come from behind to win with 10 men, we lose against 10 men. Rubbish. -

Will this be 2 goals in 9 games? That's shocking really. -
Where will we finish?
rovers11 replied to Nuttall is lost's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I think 5th place is where we'll finish. We gave ourselves a good points buffer and our form surely has to turn at some point. Plus the teams below us are not that great either. Forest or Middlesbrough will go up via the playoffs I reckon. They have the best managers. I wouldn't rule us out though as we are a very strange team that has the ability to surprise. -
v WBA (a) - Valentine’s Day 💙🤍

I don't think the contract situations help but I think it's more a case of us having a small squad and some players running on empty. It was always going to be difficult for Diaz to keep up his amazing goalscoring form. That was our main source of goals but they've now dried up. There's not a lot of goalscorers in our squad generally. That's the main source of the problem. Selling Diaz in the summer and buying 2-3 good attacking players will make us far stronger imo. -

A very tough game and a high probability that another loss is on the cards. The form of a lot of our players has dipped. Two goals in 7 games is the most alarming stat of all, we have zero quality going forward at the moment which is a real concern. First goal is absolutely crucial tonight. Without Lenihan our defence is usually all over the place but let's hope for a good result. -
Very good news! One of the best gks in the league so its vital we kept him. If we can keep the core squad together and add some attacking quality then we'll be a strong team in seasons to come. That's a big if though.

Season is imploding. WBA up next with a new manager taking charge of his first home game...another loss on the cards. Top 6 suddenly looking unlikely. -

Turgid stuff again. Absolutely no ideas going forward. Defence looking shaky too. This is more like the Rovers we've been used to over the past 10 years. Top 2 disappearing very quickly. Conceding the first goals means we won't win. Zeefuik has been woeful. -

Good starting 11 and strong bench. Feeling more confident after seeing the team news. -

The players that got us into second place are largely available. The only one missing is Pickering from that winning run. Edun and Gallagher are back up players, Dack hasn't played for 2 years, Markanday has only played 20 mins, and Poveda had one good game. -

Very tough game tonight but we're very strong at home and a near full strength squad to choose from. I think they have better players and a better manager than we do but hopefully our fantastic team spirit can pull us through. -
v Swansea City (a) - 5/2/22

You just know we won't win a game if we concede first. That's a huge issue. I'd back the likes of Fulham, Bournemouth and QPR to be able to turn games around if they concede the first goal. -

Realistically, we're not a top 2 team. Far from it actually. We're a mid table side at best so we should remember how brilliantly we're doing despite the absolute rubbish we've seen over the past 4 games. Top 6 has to be the aim. Giving it out wide to Giles to cross into the box as our only attacking tactic is not the way forward though. If the plan is to play like that then why did TM turn down the chance to sign an out and out striker. It beggars belief sometimes. -

Utter garbage tonight. Giles the only one with any ounce of quality. -

Have we actually strung a pass together in any of our games in 2022? It is truly a miracle we're anywhere near top 2. Chances of us coming back to win this? Zero to nil I'd say. -

Sounds like we're back to full strength on Saturday which is good. Swansea are certainly more style over substance. We've gone quite the opposite and it's working like a dream. -
January Transfer Deadline Day 2022

I hope Hedges does really well but looking good in training is completely different to looking good in a competitive game. But he's obviously got some talent. -

January Transfer Deadline Day 2022
rovers11 replied to Tom's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
A poor deadline day for us but a good window overall. We kept all of our best players which was the absolutely key bit of business for us. We've had a real coup in getting Markanday permanently, Zeefuik looks a good player and a permanent deal is there if we want it, Hedges I'm not so sure about but let's see what he can do, and Giles will be a good addition on loan with his set pieces. Think we're a bit light up front and we have to hope Diaz can keep scoring. If he gets injured then we're in real trouble. My main concern is CM though. Take out Rothwell or Travis and we don't have any real quality to come in. Johnson can plug some gaps for 20 minutes here and there but doesn't really impact a game. Davenport and Edun are just not that good imo. Buckley doesn't have the same impact in a deeper position. Top 2 will be a stretch too far I think but play offs is very realistic. In fact, I'd be disappointed if we didn't get top 6 at this point and that would be an outstanding season. Let's not even think about next season yet with no Lenihan, Nyambe, Rothwell, Diaz, Khadra, Van Hecke... -

Let's face it, Bournemouth have made some class signings today and are huge favourites for second spot. We just can't compete with their parachute payments. Can they all gel into a team though? Or will they be a collection of individuals? -

What a dismal day so far. In striking distance of the prem and looks like a loan lb will be the only deal at the moment. Hope there's something bubbling with other deals but we've usually heard about it by now. -

Even if they miss out, they'll have a very good squad of players next year. Sadly I'm very impressed with their recruitment.
