  1. Look at where the managers Venkys hired ended up. Bowyer has found his level at Salford City for example. Appleton has managed in the lower leagues. Keeping them would have eventually brought us to that level. I agree Mowbray is better than that but not massively. He could never take us up and he certainly couldn't keep us up. 5+ years is long enough.
  2. Increasingly it’s getting hard to get out of the Championship. In theory there are 3 available places but in reality it’s down to one mostly. Norwich will come back, they always do, I’d expect any of Leeds,Everton or Burnley to return immediately. The existing Championship teams can all fight in the play-offs for the one remaining place. Parachute payments make it unfair (unless you chuck them away like we did)
  3. Got to admit I thought Burnley were doomed at various points this season. To pull out of it as they have has been truly remarkable. They got the bounce out of sacking a terrific manager. We had a mediocre one and kept him on despite losses piling up
  4. So much for the journey we've been on over the last 5 years! Taken us for mugs.
  5. That's not normal behaviour though is it? Surely every club should have a manager arranged so that one takes over as the other departs. Just as the potential targets for transfers in and out should have been sorted before season end. A new manager needs to hit the ground running with his team 1st day back. None of that happens at Ewood anymore. And I don't think your scenario will eventuate, his contract will run down and he'll be off that day. Its a graceless way to treat him. He has after all been here nearly 6 years. I want him out but some manners wouldn't hurt. I don't think that's a good look from the club's point of view and it doesn't encourage anyone who might be interested in coming to Ewood.
  6. and half a team.
  7. Give that he's our best batter, a genuine fast bowler of international standard and a brilliant slips fielder I'd say he's taking on one hell of a load. Will his player contribution decline as his skippers job takes over? I must say I wish we could have found someone else. I accept that none come to mind.
  8. That is just not true.
  9. So Mowbray forever then?
  10. I don't think he was a great buy at £5M jim but if he were consistently playing where he ought to be he'd probably get more than 10 a season. He always gives his all, I'll say that for him. What about that recent goal direct from a Kaminski punt? Gallagher brought it down beautifully before scoring. Great touch there?
  11. I think Gallagher is a better player than many give him credit for. Anyone who's been messed around by being played out of position where he is utterly unsuited would have gone downhill too. I was really impressed by Brereton last night. He makes such intelligent runs and when he's in full flight he seems impossible to dispossess. Could have had 2 goals and that would have been the headline this morning. Any club who gets him for £20M has got a bargain imo. Never expected to be saying that! Apparently Forest did insist on a sell-on clause so if that were 40%, they would make a total oy £12M from his sale and Rovers (or Balaji) would make $5M! If that's how it works it doesn't seem a great deal to me. On the matter of the defence, the loss of Lenihan and Van Hecke at the end of the season will really hurt us. Both were immense.
  12. Its the sort of result where youbdon't know whether to laugh or cry. If only we hadn't conceded those 2 late late goals at Peterborough or the even later one at Coventry we'd be right in there.
  13. The most telling comment was "the pressures off".
  14. I would expect you to be cautious but you've won 3 of the last 5 games, Everton have won one. The draw has meant you've been largely playing teams with nothing to fight for. I think you'll stay up. Not bothered from a Rovers point of view. We'll probably have a ramshackle team of loans and youngsters next season so I'd prefer not to play you!
  15. He was probably the best player in Div 1. In div 2, before he was injured not so much. More of a nifty striker than a play-maker.
  16. The only battle we are fighting for now is to stay in the top half! After being second at Christmas that's some achievement from Mowbray!
  17. Well you've made your position clear and that"you're not having it." Its still about opinions though and imo its still not "goading". I'l leave it there.
  18. But they don't shut the Club down, we just carry on losing fans and interest and they keep on paying. I honestly don't get it.
  19. Seriously K-Hod, I don't see how this is goading fans either. Perhaps I haven't seen some of the posts you've seen?
  20. Getting the last-minute goals are Everton. Not a lot of skill but plenty of bottle. This is going to the last day I suspect.
  21. Me too! Sadly they only spent the one season out of the First Division though and had regular crowds of 52000! Can't understand how it didn't work out with David Moyes. That seems a long while ago and still they can't find a manager to suit them.
  22. If we bought Hedges for next season we sure as hell weren't thinking we'd be in the Premier League! At the time we bought him, (not prepared to wait and get him for free in the summer)we were very much fancied to go up. So a really odd signing unless we weren't expecting to go up.
