  1. Again---you are ignoring transfer inflation. The real profit IF we got one of $8M is much less than it seems. However the real damage is the players we could have got and needed more.
  2. It was never a good signing. He's taken up to this season to get up to speed and now looks like leaving. We might get £7M back but transfer inflation means that's worth a lot less than it was at the time. In the meantime we can think about how many good defenders we could have bought for that money and who could have given us a real chance of promotion. Remember if you can keep a clean sheet, one goal will get you 3 points. We have to score 3 or 4. When you think we spent £5M on Gallagher as well, its farcical.
  3. Magloire is a centre-back or he is nothing. Absolutely cruel to play him at right-back
  4. Remember also that night match Utd v Southampton? It was their 2nd last game of the season and they had to win. I watched it at the Horse and Hounds where Sky TV turned up to cover Rovers fans reactions to the game! That's how important we were then! I say I watched it but Birdy plonked himself about a foot from the screen and wouldn't take his big blue wig off! Anyway it wasn't going to plan and Southampton were leading 1-0 in the 5th minute and, even though Cole equalised after 20 mins it looked as if we could be crowned Champions without kicking a ball. Step forward the ref who awarded the most soft penalty ever in the 80th min and we know the rest! I was interviewed by Sky as I left the pub and said what I thought. If you look at the decisions that went against us and the ones that went for Utd, its a miracle we won the bloody thing at all!
  5. and then get injured again.Bad signing that one.
  6. When we were talking about this earlier, I forgot to mention that penalty we never got at Elland Rd. We were up 1-0. Shearer was clearly fouled in the penalty area in the last few minutes--no pen. We had completely dominated the game. Leeds went down the right wing, a routine cross and header and 2 points gone. Without that decision alone we would have won the Premiership at Ewood. In his Diary book Shearer said that was the clearest penalty you could possibly see. Even the Leeds fans around me agreed it was!
  7. Here's my take on it----if player after player is choosing to leave then its because the club is not committed to keeping them. If Rovers won't pay the going rate then another club will. They'll go for nowt, we won't replace them for nowt. Its bad business. Always 2 steps forward 3 back with us. I remember fans saying the same things as you're saying when Pickering left in 1964! Quote from him at the time "its not as if I'm on 40 quid a week or something"!!
  8. NO---I'm not having that! There's only one Biz!
  9. which of course we can't do.....It crushes every piece of optimism.
  10. I don't believe that. There are enough people who care enough to ensure we will always survive. If it were not for those dopey owners (I'm being charitable) we would not have anything like that debt to start with. But I'm not knocking you. I like good news and I hope that everything you believe will happen comes to pass. In the meantime I just watch the great strides Bolton, Blackpool and Accy Stanley are making and shake my head in disbelief.
  11. He has been a disaster in many ways. So far this season though, things are much better on the playing field at least. I think he has had to play more youngsters than he would like, but (surprise!) they've been up to it. Off the playing field, its a pity that Waggot doesn't get that if you increase the prices you reduce the attendance. So, sadly, there are fewer fans to see it. The walk-on price of a ticket is disgraceful. So much wrong at our club but at least now we can enjoy some success. I was going to add "while it lasts" but I've been gloomy enough for too long!
  12. No---they are "in line for' as I said.
  13. Same goes for Norwich?
  14. Exactly how I feel. With Mowbray, less is more.
  15. The key to this season so far is what was said on here all along----build from the back---Kaminsky and Ayala! Fingers crossed!
  16. I enjoyed the Gallagher goal most. For someone who can't trap a bag of cement he didn't half bring that ball down well.
  17. Just remember longsider that you'll be in danger of missing the 2 East Lancs derbies!!
  18. Not as many older players possibly having that effect?
  19. Was going to make that exact point! If the opposition has 62% possession and loses 5-1, then possession means nothing. Wasted a whole season without getting that!
  20. Not all that many Gav!
  21. Well they sacked him because they wanted to appoint Kean---so it did play a huge part in our demise.
  22. Agree. Its not about Burnley, they just happen to be the latest victims. There'll be more.
  23. And now want you to pay the rest. The word for it is racketeering!
