  1. Hence my question mark! the penalty hasn't been handed down yet but the media generally expects Reading to lose points. Heading from my favourite paper but there were any number of easy to find articles saying the same thing. Reading in line for points deduction over breach of EFL financial rules Championship club face losing six to nine points Reading were placed under transfer embargo in summer
  2. Don't forget MJD are charging Burnley 12% interest! An utter disgrace and should not be allowed. I know its Burnley but and hard to feel sympathy but our football clubs shouldn't be exploited in this way.
  3. So have Reading haven't they? Little chance of us being relegated this season! That Mowbray has a charmed life!
  4. So long as he doesn't Roger the cabin boy!
  5. TBTF those who complained did not doubt his ability rather his ability to stay fit. And, in his first season he completely justified those fears. Should he play regularly for the next 2 or 3 seasons, we will all have to admit the gamble paid off. But let's see how the rest of this season pans out eh?
  6. What gets me most is that he has no solutions to the problems he's acknowledged. Other than selling half of Brockall of course. Which is like selling the wheels of your car to pay for petrol. The traffic round Ewood?
  7. He's a number 10.
  8. How did Clitheroe get away with having 20 players?
  9. Just watched the 2nd episode---our Championship season. We dominated the League for long periods that year, it would have been a travesty if we hadn't won it. But I was sad that people thought United had lost the Championship in that last game, we should have won it before then at Ewood. Surprised at how nervous the players said they were as the end of the season came near. We did have some bad luck with referees---both United games we were robbed. And the home game against City over Easter, dreadful night made worse by a shocking penalty decision against Hendry (I think). Funny how United never got those. It would have been great to celebrate a Championship that night after beating Newcastle. I went mental anyway! But great memories, oh to have those good days back!
  10. Moreover this season is showing that our home-grown talent is better than he thought it was, judging on his selections over the years anyway. He'd sooner pay Premier League clubs big money to play their kids for a season and leave our's on the bench.
  11. We do but Venkys always want to do everything on the cheap, apparently without realising that it costs them more in the long-run. So who can get us promoted while receiving a low salary? Moreover who could keep us there? As for Venkys acting ruthlessly---pardon my mirth!
  12. Looks like he's preparing for his interview by attending games!
  13. Bit sarky. It comes as no surprise to me because I am a fan and enjoy every success we get
  14. I've always been a Rovers fan and I want the best for us. The best is not Mowbray. If you're happy with someone who takes 4 years to start on the basics then your standards are too low for me. Then again, you admit the good results won't last but we should be happy anyway! Bit all over the place aren't you?
  15. Haven't we been saying for years now that Mowbray's first priority should have been to fix the defence? Didn't we point out Howard Kendal's team always sneaking 1-0 wins, which you can't do if you leak goals?! Didn't he waste big transfer money (for us) on forwards who disappoint anyway when there were gaping holes at the back? Didn't we keep saying "a good manager builds from the back"? Didn't we sell a terrific keeper in Raya and not have a replacement for a whole season? Why did we lose 2-4 at home to Reading? He's out of his depth.
  16. So long as you're happy to stay at this level that's fine....😂
  17. Ironic isn't it? Now we finally have a decent keeper and the defence is improved, we don't have a decent central striker despite spending £12M on 2! You couldn't make it up!
  18. I was at that first game as well! 😂
  19. Ah well. So much for my memory! I was sure he was dropped in the World Cup, but I'll happily take your word for it. Wasn't he not so much dropped but not selected when he was fit because Geoff Hurst was preferred ie he could have played in the final but wasn't chosen? (trying to salvage a bit of my reputation here!!) You're right about Italy, he was unhappy there and never settled (so I've since read!)
  20. He was a great finisher, the stats speak for themselves. I'd put Dennis Law above him personally but he was in that sort of company. One of the very first British players to rebel against the maximum wage operating at the time and play abroad. Great success in Italy. Career coming to an end as we won the World Cup---unlucky there, in the squad but not picked.
  21. Jimmy Greaves died aged 81. Saw him play many times. R.I.P.
  22. We're on different time lines here. You are assuming that this good start will continue for the rest of the season. I'm taking the longer view and, imo, the realistic one. Whatever you want to believe its obvious that our gates are dropping year by year.
  23. Its true that we are playing better, (or rather getting better results) than many of us expected. But I remember last year so I don't expect this to last. But, contrary to what those writing to the LT believe, I will be delighted to be wrong.
