  1. During that superb run of success there were plenty saying. "if Tony gets the blame when things go wrong, he must receive the praise now its going right". I think that adage still applies. I've often said "we will never get promoted with Mowbray" so if he gets an extension to his contract imo we'll know that promotion is not a priority at Rovers.
  2. We need to go on another successful run to restore confidence and momentum. Anyone still believe we didn't need to sign a striker in January?
  3. Me and Chaddy go back longer than that!
  4. I'd say "significantly" but as Bigdog kindly reminds us, the season isn't over yet! We might not win another game!
  5. Poor old Ben! He'll possibly end up on 20 goals for the season. Tough shit bookies!!
  6. The manager you wanted to keep when everyone else wanted him gone you mean?
  7. Not better enough though. Nobody knows if his is a one-off season and if we might therefore be disappointed once again next season. Barnsley comes to mind.
  8. Big game this one but they are the team in form , not us. Desperate for us to find that pre-Christmas form again.
  9. Yes, good to see QPR going on a bad run. However, if we continue to play like we have been lately, what QPR do won't matter.
  10. What would Hedges offer that Khadra doesn't?
  11. Without evidence I quite agree!
  12. My hopes for a goal would settle on Dolan. Hope he starts. Interesting that nobody mentions Hedges. Why did we sign him?
  13. I wonder if he'll get a 1st team run-out, maybe as a sub before season ends? The scouts could add to the attendance figure!
  14. Ditto us! 5 points from 5 games and haven't won any of the last 4. 4 sides just out of the 6---Preston, Sheff Utd, Luton and Forest have done much better than we have over the last 5 games. Essential we turn it around starting this weekend.
  15. Well there hasn't been been a result but nobody up there is competing. Pickering is a good crosser too but we don't get adequate reward for it.
  16. I thought Brereton was excellent. The one player on either side who looked like he could win the game. The way he's checked by 2 defenders but can pull away from them and bear down on goal is outstanding. He has learned so much in the last few months. The finish for the second off-side "goal" was brilliant. A few other observations: Why did we persist with the big diagonal pass? The player receiving was invariably trying to control a ball over head-height when standing on the touch-line! A non-percentage option. Carrol---still worth his place-would have been very useful for us. Giles is a good crosser but there's not really any target for him. Wharton, VanHecke and Nyambe---absolutely outstanding. Very sad that 2 will likely leave us. Finally, if we play like we did for that 2nd half for the rest of the season, we will at least make top 6.
  17. I would support suspending him over the River Darwen!
  18. You're going to lose a lot of games 1-0. So are we.
  19. Well I'm not messing with anyone! Couldn't agree more on your last sentence. I've always said he was the best player I ever saw and that includes Best, Law, Matthews (though late in his career), Finney(ditto) and anyone else but, factually, he did live in and went to school in the Ewood area as a child. He never went to school or lived in Darwen till adulthood--i've no idea when he first lived there. So that makes him a Blackburner for me. Doesn't really matter does it? He was and is a Rover and arguably the greatest Rover of them all. Have to pass on Bob Crompton's claim to that description but clearly he has one. But no statue! "His latest girlfriend"!! Bloody hell, he's in his eighties! Enjoy it while you can Dug!
  20. I'd no idea where he lives now but he lived within a stone's throw of Ewood as a child and went go the locally, now demolished Primary school. That's where he grew up so that makes him a Blackburner for me!
  21. I don't see Burnley making up a 7 point gap tbh given that they've only won one game in over half a season. That whole bottom 3 are in real danger of being cast adrift.
  22. Duggie never lived in Darwen though? Was he born at Bull Hill?
