  1. Wow! Didn't see this coming! Fantastic performance from the bowlers. Given that Archer, Broad, Wood and Stokes were unavailable, that was some achievement. Then again, it was Headingley!
  2. We know they will. Be allowed to run out of contract, play well and get dropped, play out of position and fail to keep their pay up to their ability levels. Its just inevitable.
  3. Summary of this post----a slow death rather than a quick one.
  4. It wouldn't be so bad if Mowbray could actually find one---a striker I mean! "I know how to get round this, I'll tell Balaji I've signed 2 strikers but they're actually going to run up and down the flanks."
  5. Reality of your position is "remorseless optimism"!! Abbey had it right!
  6. That's the difference between investment and waste.
  7. "benefactor"? That's one word for it!
  8. They'll leave for less than they are worth, Raya already has.
  9. And I'll go back to my much-misunderstood original post on this subject. If we keep messing Carter around he'll leave.
  10. We all agree we must have 4 centre-backs. What's wrong with Carter being one of them? He will play a reasonable number of games and his career can take off from there.
  11. I'm not sure I'd go that far yet but if we are to have 4 centre-backs, I absolutely agree that that's the four we should have. Why should be pay out to develop the likes of Branthwaite? Not as good as our own.
  12. I don't get this. He came in late last season when injuries gave Mowbray no choice, looked every bit the part. Now instead of developing him, we should bring some kids in from the EPL and send him away again? At a time when we are broke? Makes no sense especially when injuries are inevitable in that position.
  13. Saw him play in the Australia test at Old Trafford on the last day when the Test decided the Ashes. Brilliant and rapid innings of 70 something from memory. 1963 I think. We lost sadly. Wonderful day nevertheless.
  14. Another one who's misread my post. Here's a clue--- its about signing young loan players and keeping our own out and the potential repercussions of that.
  15. If you had read it properly you would have seen I was making a hypothethsis--that's different than a fantasy. If I was fantasising it wouldn't involve Carter!
  16. Because I've learned by experience!! You don't think Venkys/Mowbray/Waggot decision-making should not be looked at with pessimism? Where have you been? Its not as if clear examples aren't staring you in the face---Raya,Nyambe,Rothwell---all handled badly by Mowbray--1 gone, 2 to go. Carter looks a good prospect---if he's treated as badly as others have been, its hardly projecting wildly to think he'll be off.
  17. I'm on board with the youth policy but its imposed on us by necessity rather than being part of a plan. But its the "let them develop into good players and then let their contracts wind down" bit I don't get!
  18. Next step----Carter wants a move. Mowbray is strangling the life out of this club
  19. He has lost it and should go.
  20. Their keeper was so terrified of Samba he dropped the ball on his head for our first! That made it 1-1 and we had never looked like scoring at any point! Absolutely glorious. Boring my arse! Laughed out loud for days after!
  21. Well you might remember that, I honestly don't. On the other hand you could be making it up.
  22. Boring and losing. I'm quite happy with a statement that some of the worst football in 50 years came under Coyle and Mowbray. Terrible managers but at least Mowbray had money to spend (which by and large he didn't do well)
