  1. We're in deep shit. I can understand resting Jimmy Anderson but not Dominic Bess. Given that Joffre was injured as well bowling wasn't strong enough. And since we batted poorly in the first innings we forfeited any chance anyway. Just got to play for some honour now and not give up wickets cheaply.
  2. Given the way we are playing that is not completely out of the question.
  3. I can't help remembering that he had a pretty good loan spell with us originally and that was under Coyle! Coyle was a crap manager but he never played Gallagher on the wing or right-back. The lad's confidence is being ruined. I would like to see what a good manager could get out of him before writing him off.
  4. Its a poor show though---commentators said repeatedly that they had never seen a pitch like it---"pebbles and dust" was the quote. However, some poor batting, notably Root. They know he plays that shot a lot and had a man out waiting for it.
  5. I admire your optimism! We've come back well twice in this innings but the way the ball is turning does not bode well for us, especially batting last. Not beyond us but it will take a very special effort.
  6. My thoughts entirely. The whole squad has dumbed down. Everybody's worse than they were, except Kaminsky. They're playing like its the end of the season and they can't wait.
  7. Stick with him and the club will die. There is nothing to look forward to. Can't remember the last decent Cup run of either kind. Death comes nearer with every game.
  8. You can't see any connection between selection and formation on the one hand and the consequences on the other? Really?
  9. This bit's right, the rest is gobbledegook.
  10. Whiteman must feel relieved we didn't go for him.
  11. When he does go and plays for a decent manager you'll see what we missed
  12. There is no plan. He picks 11 players to start, not necessarily in their best positions and when it fails he randomly sends on the cavalry like its a cup-tie. Defensively we are in pieces and should have conceded more. Same every week.
  13. That's the truth of it and, at the end of the season we'll be rebuilding again. Is there anyone left who thinks we have any likelihood of top 6 this season. Mowbray's failed and must go.
  14. After 4 years the defence still looks like they were introduced just before the game. Plenty of forward pressure from us now but you would think there's still a defensive cock-up or two left in us.
  15. I wouldn't like to say which way it will go but I have my suspicions! 😂
  16. Yeah, sorry Den, I edited my post before I saw your reply--honest! I'm just desperate for us to get a 2-0 lead!
  17. I know he's getting on but I thought they would have stuck with Jimmy. Edit. And Bess out as well! You wonder if T Mowbray is picking the side! Actually, I do know England are determined to implement a rotation policy and stick to it!
  18. The longer goes on though, the greater the leverage of the player and the more likely another club will show interest.
  19. And Gallagher won Winger Of The Year.
  20. I know why you mean eg Paul Temple! How can I love something so excruciating?
  21. I've got one of those table-top Bose wave-radios but mostly I listen via iPad/laptop. I love 4 Extra as well, good serial on the weekend takes me back decades. Really love radio on demand. Would choose it over TV if you were only allowed one of them!
  22. Exactly the same! Occasionally 5Live.
  23. They think its all over, it is now! Great win. Root possibly knows a bit more than me!
  24. Ashwin out for 9, dismissed Leach. India 171--7. Surely we'll win now? Yesterday I was going to post along the lines of "Anderson surely should only be picked for home tests in future. Not suited to Indian conditions." Then he comes out 5th day and makes the ball talk like he's at Old Trafford!
