For the first and possibly only time I agree with every single word you wrote Gav!😍
-
No I didn't miss it but its not a created clear chance. You see those go wide everyday. You went well beyond that.
-
Gav you don't half talk some rubbish. You've lumped me in with some people you've identified apparently arguing that things aren't better than last season Who" Straw man? My comments after the game were overwhelmingly positive: "Hard to take that result. We were clearly the better side. We had a big period of domination mid-first half but couldn't make it count. I was feeling very uneasy just before they scored as they had a 10 minutes of possession in our half for just about the first time in the game. And a real scrappy, ugly goal was the outcome. We didn't create many clear chances tbh for all our possession and Armstrong scuffed just about all of them. Gallagher is a tremendous worker but what a poor first touch. Our man of the match for me was Rothwell, he's going to be some player. Elliott showed sublime skills, Liverpool have a lot to look forward to there. Defence had them in their pocket. Just one of those games I'm afraid.Like Bournemouth again." You might remember that post Gav----you "liked' it after all! What you've done is to take some later posts out of context. I was aiming at those blaming the defence for the defeat, I though they played pretty well but one slip or favourable bounce happens in any game. When it happened to us it shouldn't have changed the result because we had dominated them from start to almost finish. Finally I stand by my comments that we created no clear chances ie where I leaped up and shouted "Gosh he should have put that one away. What a pity" (or words to that effect"! That includes Ayala's routine header from a routine corner. Hardly a piece of creation Gav.

We created NO clear chances. Not one in the whole 90 minutes.

As I keep saying, if the defence had been perfect, we would have drawn nil-nil. Unlike previous losses where we are lamenting missed chances, we didn't miss any clear chances yesterday. There simply weren't any. -

What we missed last night was some big bloke who could mix it with their central defence and give them something to worry about. We have no presence in the air up front . There isn't anyone in the club like this Samual was the last one.. Whose fault is that? They had it for the last few minutes and won the game. The basics are under-rated by TM. -

Quite a few but a toddler could have stopped them! -

The defence conceded one goal! And that a scrappy one with some luck involved (which we never got.) You're praising the attack but we didn't score!! Even if the defence had kept that one out we'd still have only got one point where we deserved 3! I think this top goal-scoring stuff has gone to Arma's head by the way. He didn't ever look for a colleague in a better position and his shooting skills were woeful. -

OK JBiz--let's stop it here. You think TM is a "great manager". I think he's quite ordinary. And you're cheating with your comparisons. eg "Mark Hughes is a great manager" is not the same as "Mark Hughes was a great manager for us" as well you know! Similarly Moyes was a great manager for Everton but rubbish for Manure, and finally found his level imo with West Ham. ergo not a great manager. The End.
-
Sorry---make that "70 year love affair." Tempus fugit and all that!
-
"Subjective semantics"----cuts both ways! He's not a great manager though whichever way you look at it. Great managers win trophies. He's merely the best Venkys could come up with, which isn't really saying very much.
-
Bloody hell, what an awful thought. If that does become the case, after all we've been through and we lose the players we've gradually got together, then that will be the end of a 60 year love affair for me.
-
Absolutely no point whatsoever getting excited about the squad TM has assembled over 3 years or so if other clubs are going to take them for free. What the hell's going on here? Don't we want to progress?
-
Difference between "very good" and "great" is quite big. No? I know Its your opinion but, in my opinion, you've got it wrong.
-
He's never a great manager. That is way over the top.

TRANSFER THREAD - JANUARY 2021

Are you saying we can't run and chew gum at the same time? Perfectly feasible to sort the contract extensions out while signing a couple of defenders---on loan or otherwise. I would have thought current problems make this a necessity. -
Prospect, TM's best value signing after Dack.
-
-
You don't know that either. Its just your view.
-
Because you believe it doesn't make it so. That's your opinion and its fair enough, but the part that irks is where you are astonished that others don't agree.

I was at that game! Aged 3! Have no memory of it whatsoever but my Dad told me about it-----several times! -

I remember Langton smacking one in during the warm-up at the Darwen End. It hit a 6 or 7 year old kid flush in the face! Kids were sitting on little benches against the wall in those days. The kid was carried off by an ambulance man and he was definitely striking!
