  1. JDT's style was meant for a reasonable standard squad. We didn't have one this season, thanks to the owners. He persisted anyway and we are where we are. Another opportunity thrown away I think.
  2. I don't understand this. None of us know but surely those employed at the Club get their orders from the owners. And I'm quite content in the belief that they instructed those 3 transfer bids to die at the last minute.
  3. Nobody on earth could believe we messed it up in the last seconds three times within a single year. This is Venkys pretending to support the club, while making this once-proud Club look ridiculous and forcing others to take the blame. Absolutely despicable.
  4. Definitely pictured in a Rovers shirt for the dumb public.
  5. YES! Legislation introduced to parliament yesterday. Government will have statuary right to sack failing owners for the first time. Supporters will have statuary right to participate in their Club. Supporters have wanted this for years----don't minimise it. Once established it can always be strengthened.
  6. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2024/mar/19/football-governance-bill-reveals-extent-of-english-regulators-proposed-powers Finally the newspaper headline we have all been gagging for:(what could go wrong? Bad owners could be forced to sell clubs by new English football regulator
  7. I cannot see the sense of holding on to the Club until we are promoted to the EPL. Firstly its not happened or even been close in 12 years+ so what makes Venkys think things will change for the better when everyone can see the situation worsens year by year? Secondly, say the reason for doing this is to get a higher price when they do agree to sell. If it takes 4 years, and I still think its never, that would be another loss of £80M to add to the losses incurred already of around £240M. So, conclusion, if their reasons are financial, they are even more deluded than I thought. Every year they hold on to the Club merely compounds the huge losses already piling up. The only sensible thing to do, from a purely financial point of view is to cut their losses, sell for what they can get now and avoid accumulating new debt every year. If there are other reasons, like wanting to get us back in the Premier League before they sell and bow out on a high as it were, then we are truly doomed because its not going to happen.
  8. Somehow we have to win 2 games. If we do, draws will get us over the line. Our scoring needs to pick up for this to happen. But how? Wharton from direct corners?
  9. Its a bit confronting though to know that no-one will ever be able to buy us under that scenario! As if we could ever achieve promotion to the Premier League under Venkys! That dream drifts farther away with every season they own us.
  10. So "No" to speculation then? Boring MB?
  11. I'll always remembers 2 examples of the conundrum that is Hedges---one of the best goals I have ever seen at any level, against QPR and that abject fatal disaster that cost us our Play-Off place at Preston.
  12. You couldn't call Hedges "consistent" though could you? Consistently injured maybe. Not a good buy really.
  13. He's tightened up the defence which is the key to staying up but the goals have dried up. You'd have to think Ipswich will score a couple at least after today's result so that leaves us needing 2 goals for a draw and 3 to win! We could be panicking again after Good Friday!
  14. I don't remember many saying that either. Its clear we were stagnating under them, they wouldn't finance Hughes" moderate plans when we were on the up. So shortsighted when he had us finishing 6th. Supporting him properly would have seen us attracting more buyers and them getting more money. But they wanted what they could get "now" and didn't care who from.
  15. Whereas at this point we are a feeder for anyone with any spare cash just to pay the bills,
  16. To complete the quote "You have been here too long for all the good you have done, in the name of God ..GO!" Oliver Cromwell to the Long Parliament. 1660!!
  17. Leeds allowing Paveda to leave on a free at the end of the season apparently. Better than what we have? Only a goer if we stay in the Championship of course.
  18. It needs someone like him, famous and popular, to draw attention to what's been happening to Rover over the last 14 years and to possibly attract attention from people with real wealth. Any chance of the Trust or anyone else making contact? I know it sounds far-fetched but if you don't try you never find out. He seems passionate enough about the club. He could be the perfect figure-head if someone could get him involved. Media would be all over him!
  19. True but the Academy is not being used as we had imagined. We've just become a feeder club for others. The usually inadequate transfers fees are swallowed up by day to day running costs. But you're right, the Academy is doing well.
  20. These people have things completely the wrong way round. They effectively argue that "if 20000- home fans turned up to every game we would have a good team". In reality, if we had a good team, 20000 fans would turn up! Its the entertainment game, the club has to incentivise the fans. They have to put on something that's worth paying for. What they are doing is relying on the loyalty of fans which has built up over years without giving them the experience which attracted them in the first place. If you were 9-10 years old in 1993, and living in the Blackburn area there was only one place to be on a Saturday--- all that has been thrown away years ago.
