  1. The mooted two year contract will take him till his 60 and his pension fund will be looking nice by then. Can we really see him wanting the hassle of another gig right now when he can coast another 2 seasons here ? I agree he'll likely be the one who decides when he's finished at Rovers but it won't be in the near future. Load of departures in summer, wheeling and dealing with his mate Parko bringing more youth in. No expectations next season after the summer turnaround. Doddle, he loves it here.
  2. Exactly but it'll fall on deaf ears of those who don't want to know. I'm no fan of the owners but they have provided several opportunities to sign another proper forward since last summer. Those running the team have looked clearly identified a few but decided to bin it off when they haven't come off. They and they alone have made the call to just get a few bods in and leave it at that and continue the mix and match policy hoping something comes off. Things could look a lot better if and when BBD and Dack are available but it might well be too late them. Smart management would've taken some kind of insurance policy again when we were in such a good position. Even a cheap lump who can just go in the middle and cause problems would help. Might score one goal only but it could be a bloody important one. To never have that option in the ranks is ridiculous in this league if you seriously want to get out of it.
  3. They could have found a striker on loan from somewhere had the desire been really there. No point beating around the bush or throwing names around because they decided on utility men and hope for the best. Just plain facts i'm afraid backed up by various things the manager himself has said. It's their call.
  4. Maja who was virtually signed last summer until he flunked the medical. A few months later we can't afford him but we could afford Hedges.....😂 Our plonkers have been pulled again in favour of utility men.
  5. How do we actually know there was no money available from the owners for the right guy ? Come on, Markandy, Hedges, Giles, Zefuick..... how much for that lot in wages fees and signing on plus agents ? It's the first time in ages hes been able to do a decent amount of business in Jan but all he wanted really was squad players. He said so himself he wanted multi positional types, the types he's obsessed with. The types that never solve what is really needed. I'm convinced if he wanted 20k a week towards a loan signing striker he'd have got it. All too easy to continually pile everything at the owners door when Mowbray and his gang usually just do what they want. He's gone yet again for the safe options of people he can rotate and try and blend in wherever rather than try and tailor the play to serve a front man.
  6. Angry today but shouldn't really be although it's nothing to do with false expectations given last night was widely predicted. That isn't a point in the bag and move on it's most definitely 2 dropped and will hurt us. Just cannot see us getting much more than 0-0s and possibly the odd 1 nil in the near future. Again all this was expected given the lack of addressing what was needed in Jan when the glaring opportunity was there. We got squad men who look and perform as such but -again predictably- they are either hawked around positions anywhere but their proper one. Or they very oddly have to learn to play football again and run around again and don't get a sniff, it's almost like those in charge never had any real plan for the signings. Defenders didn't come when they should have and they were called for long and hard. Strikers haven't come when needed despite us only having one and him needing help way before he was injured. A pivitol part in this is the curious case of Sam Gallagher who undoubtedly has affected the desire to bring another in. The manager has pinned his hopes on him getting goals whilst the player has never ever looked like he can. I've defended him but last night showed him for the defensive dolloper forward that he really is. Looks decent when team isn't playing that well because he runs around a lot. When some football is being played and he should be finding space and producing something he is atrocious. I'm being 100% serious here saying Chris Brown had a better touch. All this will have a big say in this great once in a decade season going up in smoke. Plus points - great effort from all the lads and yet another clean sheet - if you don't make it count though....
  7. Agree. We don't want to change too much as Saturday aside we are still keeping it quite tight at the back. That's down to the system so going back to many changes and square pegs in round holes against an organized side might prove costly. Rovers can't batter teams this season it's all about the grind, three or one point in that order. Once the rotating starts and systems start changing we'll implode imo. End of the day whatever we do we don't have enough players carrying genuine goal threat. So at least keep it tight at the back and hope to grab something, as always score first and we'll win.
  8. 'Try and stop the slide from the top of the division' Lets be honest about these things. Fans can help no doubt but it's more about backing than numbers however another striker is the thing that could have made the difference.
  9. Certainly aren't a soft team at all the back line and Travis will have it with anyone and Gallagher can put it about. What we are is a bit lightweight physically due to the age and size of some of our lads. If he wants to persist with false 9 then bring in a proper guy for the job in summer, preferably somebody strong enough. Bucko can go deeper where he belongs when Rothwell departs.
  10. Got to give Van Hecke some credit for sticking to his task you'll not find a better forward of that type than Mitrovic in this league. He got done easily a few times and out manned but he also wasn't afraid of giving him a dig back. Particularly liked the bit when he grabbed his shirt and shoved him down as if to say i'm not intimidated by you pal.
  11. Unfortunately as this league now seems to show most seasons you won't get promotion on the cheap. Having got yourselves right in the mix on the cheap however, surely not asking much to invest a bit and try and get over the line. I don't want any spiel about breaking the bank or ffp either as we aren't talking about 10 million. Just a few quid in wages for a proven player on loan, they are out there. Our lot just aren't bold enough though it's literally just been bring a few in to boost numbers and hope something clicks. So so predictable we'd end up in the situation we are in now so we just have to pray we plunder the odd goal and continue collecting clean sheets.
  12. The odd goal either way takes it but wouldn't be at all surprised if it ends 0-0. The quiz question for this one is where will he stick Giles this time and will Khadra and Dolan make it past 65 mins.....
  13. I think we do plenty of that normally along with a lot of niggling fouls etc. Difference is the cards come straight out for us.
  14. Lance Menswear i think it was called but can't recall exactly where it was.
  15. That's why pushing the boat out for a quality loan addition, with some scoring pedigree, when 2nd in the league - and the main man tied up with Chile - was vital. Now that would have been ambition.
  16. The key next season is pricing them right along with showing real ambition to build on this season and go one better if we miss out, whoever is boss. I have little faith that'll be the case though it'll be very much carry on as usual and see where we land. That approach doesn't sell STs as we've seen last summer. Especially when they keep upping prices as well.
  17. Yep which is strange seeing as individually one or two look decent but they just haven't improved anything. Just bodies giving TM excuse to mix and match. He prefers it like that.
  18. Whoever has been doing it this season seems to have done a good job it's the fittest team we've had for a long time. Obviously it's now full of more willing runners and workers than before so that plays a big part. I presume to training sessions are often quite intense so picking up niggles is probably collateral damage. Just got to hope they keep trying to sign robust young players. Snowflake Rovers is a thing of the past.
  19. It did and it probably still will but it just doesn't work against Fulham you really have to make the ball stick.
  20. Or gave them a fixed asset as personal security for money already put in previously.
  21. Fair enough comment. With the expected departures they'll have to pull a lot of rabbits out of a small hat to match this season. The BBD money will be trousered to cover the training ground exchange imo.
  22. Make your mind up pal we have progressed this season - so far. They still own it their money pays Mowbray. He and his staff use their budget from their money, they didn't sack him when they should have. He chose to bring in who he did in Jan with their backing instead of a striker. The whole lot go hand in hand. Bigger picture though i agree, fully expect to be back in midtable next season with Tony at the wheel and several good players lighter. It's a collective.
