  1. I'm sick of seeing people holding up the Spurs lads injury as a reason we've no striker. It's as daft as the 'we'd have made the play offs with Dack' myth the other year. We signed 4 squaddies again this Jan and not one of them has had any impact. The chance was there to put this window to better use but they just used it to fill out the squad again. That is having a bearing on this bad run make no mistake, just when the team needed a boost it hasn't got it. Just because we've unexpectedly over achieved this season doesn't give them the right to blow it like this and escape being questioned on it. We are back to being Mowbrays standard Rovers now make no mistake, absolutely zero idea or direction how to deal with these type of scenarios.
  2. Yep and all we really needed was a decent striking option up top just to try and complete the jigsaw. Like i said before though our premium signing is Gallagher and TM will play that right sided forward fiddle until he finally gets a tune out of it. I refuse to believe these owners wouldn't have backed him had he wanted to go down the loan route of a striker. I don't think he wanted to, they looked at Maja and probably a few others but option B (TMs favoured option) would always have been multi positional squaddies. Giles and Zefuik i can understand but Hedges ? Just one for ones sake i think. People go on about FFP as an excuse not to spend but there's a few quid tied up in those 4 signings in terms of wages, fees and signing on.
  3. Ref - Yeah clear the snow i'st only an inch and it hasn't been freezing so it should be fine. 1hr later Ref- Have you cleared it all yet ? Er, not quite. Give us another 45 mins. Ref - ffs! Didn't you make plans for this the weather forecast was there for all to see. We're doing all we can ! Ref - Right i need to test it at 2.15 at the latest the i can get home fore my tea for once if it's off. 2.15 - it's just about ready. Ref - Look at the state of it underneath i was expecting better, it's off. Oh, we're going to get some stick for this, it's all your fault you barsteward in black !!!
  4. Thing is with Gerrard he come across as single minded and driven i bet he can be ruthless. He was a hard competitor on the pitch and despite all the media fluff and love that gets poured on Liverpool he could be a nasty git when needed. Unlike Lampard i don't think he's too bothered if everyone likes him outside of his club. Strikes me that's the kind of things you need to be a decent manager. How he is tactically iv'e no idea though but he isn't in the pub league now so it's a new learning curve.
  5. They rushed him a bit last time by the looks of it when TM was under a bit of pressure so i doubt they'll make the same mistake. We need a fit and firing Dack next season whatever league we end up in. Rovers SHOULD have got in proper striking additions in Jan.
  6. It was better than struggling every season obviously and we needed a bit of stability. Have to say though it was probably the most boring period in all my time watching Rovers. You could predict what was going to happen virtually every game and we seemed to draw all the time. That's why it was so frustrating to see it creep back similarly with Mowbrays sideways and backwards experiment.
  7. That doesn't mean we shouldn't try and improve on it or him because recently hes been ineffective there. Not just the odd game either its been going on quite a while.
  8. Probably just down to who asks first for most of them, then again it maybe agents and fees dictating 🙄
  9. He has looked good when hes dropped back a bit in games hes spread some nice passes around.
  10. I'd like to see Hedges given a start in his proper position to see what he can do. Maybe in a home game rather than away.
  11. Yep if Bucko was a proper false 9 instead of a midfielder being played there we probably wouldn't need these debates.
  12. BBD was out on his feet before he even went to his last Chile call up so at some point he needed rest and he needed help on the pitch. I think we've seen the pressure on his shoulders recently his body language has shown frustration. The forwards haven't been scoring them though have they and the evidence always suggested they wouldn't it's more hope than planning. Even Mowbray seems to think if he says they need to step up they will, he's been in football long enough to know it rarely works like that. Pecking order is a fair point to mention as there is an elephant in the room there in the shape of big Sam G, he's very high in the order. I'm not as down on him as some are but again it's like TM and the rest of us are just praying he hits a run of scoring. So in my opinion in order to give us the best chance of keep competing at the top something should have been done that resembles something with a bit of scoring pedigree.
  13. They aren't strikers or have any previous between them for notching. One is a punt on another youngster for the future the other is just another squad player. Maybe playing a forward in his forward position would help !!! So i stand by my point we have no other strikers in the entire club with any sort of scoring ability and that's poor. I don't know why you cherry pick Mitrovic as your example he's a luxury player only a club with loads of cash can sign. Meanwhile lots of other clubs around the country manage to find back up strikers for their squads. We should have been looking for final pieces of the jigsaw to get us over the line whilst being in such a good position. It's always a gamble whoever you sign and i'm certain the loan market could have thrown something up. It might cost wages short term but they've been happy enough to do that in the recent past when the manager has presented Downing, Holtby and the like. Even if a short term loan costing 20 grand a week only scores 2 goals he might be labelled a flop. Not if those 2 goals win 2 games or similar and yield 4-6 points, absolutely vital to where we are. Mowbrays preference is always multi positional squad players, the recruitment depts preference is always youth. Sometimes you need to think a bit more square pegs for square holes. Wouldn't matter if we were say were we usually are in mid season but we aren't.
  14. Done well with the bounce back season and love the turnaround and faith in youth this season. Bang average at best for the other 3 years though no different than what numerous other average managers would deliver, give or take. To be here so long is an achievement and the turnaround from last season has been great. If we are being brutally honest though he's also a very lucky manager to have survived some of it. He must say his prayers to the gods of India every night. All being said he's been a good manager here given what we are these days thanks to various issues. He deserves some respect and to be left to just get on with it this season although some of the virtue signalling today on social media is embarrassing. As that ex Palace owner on the radio would say he's just a man actually doing the job he's paid a hell of a lot of money to do.
  15. So when there is opportunity we don't sign another forward to help out the only regular goalscorer. Now he himself is out for weeks maybe more, not like any experienced fan couldn't see a situation like this arising. These are the things that a club like us just has to get right if we are to stay in the mix. Instead we sign a few multi positionals again who to date haven't contributed much at all to help stop the slide away.
  16. Booed off ? Well i suppose he never got subbed here but imagine the uproar if he had got that treatment. Another example that this kind of thing can happen anywhere when fans are angry. No surprise though the guy has been stealing a living in domestic football for years with his accept no responsibility style. The only time he really shone here for more than the odd game was the back end of the league 1 season. Coincidentally that was the only other time in the last decade until this season a Rovers manager played to the strengths of the squad he had. Oh....and he needed a new contract.
  17. I wouldn't drink the tea next time he's reffing at Millwall if i was him.
  18. They really are adverse to doing cheap one off deals now it looks like the Sheff U one was the last. This is another good deal on the face of it but it is still asking people to stump up £100 in one go. Yet again it'll shift a couple of hundred at best when instead cheap single match tickets boost a gate by an extra 3k, proven.
  19. Like a lot of this side Khadra is far better on the counter attack driving forwards and not having to think about it too much. When we have a lot of the ball pinning the opposition back he runs down blind alleys too often. He isn't alone either they need to get some interchanging passes off quicker too many want to do it all themselves.
  20. With the scrutiny he will have been under especially from the Millwall end i think he'll be covering his arse. Seeing as virtually everybody connected to either team who was there seems of the opinion it was playable by 3pm. He's bound to mention his opinion on the general preparations i'm sure.
  21. The thing is i doubt anybody at the club in the last ten years has mentioned about the pitch to them. Until now obviously when it's too late and all the money has been used getting through the pandemic etc. Past regimes have been too busy looking for ways to fill their own pockets and that is easier done via players and agents. Nowt in it for anyone when it comes to spending big on a pitch. Now if any ex SEM or Kentaro were involved in turfing it'd have been done now, probably twice over. Minus the usual % of course.
  22. It's been coming ever since the billionaire - multi million wasting with one hand but penny pinching with the other - mob turned up. I'm sure the pitch had to be completely re done with turf every few seasons as part of Prem rules at the time ? Might be wrong but i do recall it being done properly around Allardyce time i think. That was probably the last time it was and since then it just gets an annual reseeding instead. Of course there was Prem income paying for it then but with the money these lot have spaffed ! A few million extra for the most vital thing you need to play football on would hardly have broke the bank. So this has been coming for a decade and now it is increasingly becoming a problem. It won't go away it will just get worse they have been covering a growing wound with sticking plasters yet again. The stadium itself will be next to suffer.
  23. Exactly. Ultimately it's the match official whose head this is on but as i said in an earlier post maybe his report will say he didn't feel the club had taken the right steps and acted quickly enough. Still, very little excuse not to at least just delay kick off a while but was that even suggested i wonder ? Police will have had their say no doubt on that with the prospect of hundreds of Millwall loitering about.
  24. We really really could've done with playing yesterday and making home advantage count. Refs seem determined to do their level best to try and stop us having a tilt at promotion this season. No doubt this one will be a 'homer' as well taking the opposition numbers to 12 ! Another narrow defeat here i'm afraid. Blades 1 Rovers 0
