  1. The Brexit issue isn’t just about not being able to sign EU players with getting work permits etc, it’s also made for ridiculously high transfer fees and wages for very mediocre U.K. and Irish ones because of the reduced size of the market we can shop in. Brexit, the gift that keeps on giving, it’s been a pile of them so far.
  2. A few thoughts on our Scottish Tour. I was by chance due to be in Scotland for our pre-season games there, so it was wonderful to be able to see both games in the flesh. I thought our youngsters were excellent at Dundee, and our first team played really well at Celtic Park. Two great cities to visit, two completely contrasting grounds, both of which I’ve visited often, and two very enjoyable games. A far better pair of fixtures than playing lower league English teams because of the added edge of an England Scotland rivalry.
  3. I thought we looked good up front, especially in second half. Keeper made 3 good saves for them.
  4. 148 Rovers fans in a crowd of 1300 at the game. I thought we played well first half, disorganised in the second. We should have been 4 up at HT. The Rovers fans were tucking into football’s greatest delicacy, the Scotch pie, by the bucketload. Biggest round of applause from us was for the Dundee PA announcer in the second half with this comment. “And now for the Blackburn Rovers substitutes, 5 players off and 5 players on. Sorry that’s the best I can do without a team sheet”. Forward and onward to Paradise next.
  5. I’m at both games, can’t wait for tonight. My favourite team playing at my second favourite team. I love the city of Dundee and have been on Dens Park often. Please Rovers fans, don’t start chanting anti Scottish nonsense, and respect our hosts.
  6. Rovers have been given less than 300 tkts by Dundee, might get more if the demand is there. I got 2 this afternoon.
  7. Only for a season in between his stints at Dunfermline.
  8. I’m most looking forward to the game at Dens Park, Dundee, a place that gave me a lot of happy memories. I lived in the great city of Dundee for 4 years and the “Dee” are my second favourite team. I was on Dens as recently as the beginning of Feb to see them play Dundee Utd in the Dundee derby. Full house, great atmosphere. Dens is a really old fashioned ground at the top of the Hiiltown. Unfortunately Dundee got relegated after only one season back in the SPL. I can’t see Gary Bowyer getting them back up! I’ll be at Celtic too.
  9. If anyone is thinking of going to the game at Dundee, you’ll be lucky to find any hotel space within 50 miles. The Open at St. Andrews starts on the 14th and everywhere has been booked up for ages, or are charging a fortune.
  10. Clearly Greg Broughton has had a major say in the recruitment of JDT and his staff, which is a good sign. I also like the idea of a coach who’s prime job it is to prepare the team, and leave recruitment up to the DoF. Great stuff, I can’t wait to watch the next chapter in the history of Blackburn Rovers.
  11. It’s hard to feel sympathy for folk who buy tkts off touts and find out they’re fake. The issue looks like it’s been caused by these tkts not working, hence bottlenecks and frustrated fans pushing towards turnstiles. That and a lot of drunk fans acting like idiots, who the French fans regard as fair game. No issue with Madrid fans.
  12. I’ve had enough of his drip fed interviews with the Lancs Telegraph this last week, ranging from telling us what kind of manager the club needs to his latest that he loves Nyambe and Lenihan. Is he already a director of football???
  13. Nyambe is definitely there, pre match injury or covid?
  14. Fantastic game. As Gary Neville said, watching Leeds is total carnage.
  15. I reckon ‘Boro and Forest are play off certs. Huddersfield hitting a bad patch, us and QPR totally inconsistent, Luton so hard to beat at home. Think we might just sneak into the play offs with Luton and the aforementioned two.
  16. Forest are looking really dangerous, and we’ve lost the advantage of having our destiny in our own hands due to a lack of goals.
  17. I think Everton are goners, but Watford will survive with Roy’s ability to grind out points. No comment about Burnley.
  18. If Lenihan doesn’t sign, Travis will be captain next season, or perhaps he’s already been told this because the current arm band holder is leaving?
  19. He’s looking like a bit of a sick note to be honest.
  20. I tore my ankle ligaments last summer and it took nearly 3 months for me to feel fully mobile. Obviously BBD will get top notch treatment, but if he’s done the same it’ll be a long recovery.
