Jon Dahl Tomasson - Sweden coach

I think we are broadly agreeing here. Of course I want us to win in an exciting way but most of I just want to win. -
I remember years ago seeing a Norman Wisdom film which was made in Darwen but it seemed to disappear off the face of the earth. I found this five minute clip though and any Darreners will recognise some of the buildings.

Winning surpasses anything else in professional sport. Success on the pitch (or lack of it) pretty much dictates everything that happens elsewhere in the club. The feeling of winning in any manner massively outweighs the feeling of playing nice football and not winning. However each to their own.- 9495 replies

Thankfully somebody used common sense and got rid of the £30 surcharge (why on earth is it there in the first place) as they sense a surge of interest following Tomassons appointment but this is effectively the second extension of the deadline. Once again questions are quite rightly being asked about the suitability of people down there making decisions. I personally don't think they will ever learn.

I was thinking about this today when it came to me in a flash of inspiration that they actually have done refunds before. In the Covid effected season anybody who bought a season ticket was offered a refund minus the cost of watching each game on iPlayer (£230). The refund was deducted from the following seasons price of a season ticket.

2022/2023 Pre Season Thread

Stanley are asking their own supporters who have bought tickets in two blocks of the Studio Stand to contact the club for our friendly there. My guess is there is such a demand from Rovers that Stanley can't accommodate them all and are moving their own fans to another area. The JDT effect is upon us. -
Most of the posts about refunds (I think many from people who have already bought them) is a discount for next season rather than some actual cash back now. Another suggestion is a voucher for the shop, free shirt or leisure wear. I do accept that anything radical now would be a gamble but it's one the club have to take. Whichever way the club can't continue to bury it's head in the sand and needs to do something sooner rather than later. It would be great if somebody at the club did something along these lines and said sorry we got this wrong. That, from a PR point of view would go down really well in my view.

I was going to say similar Gav. It's packed full of quality British actors and actresses and the storyline is gripping and turning into a real whodunit. On a similar theme one of my favourite films is still Brassed Off which, whilst being generally a comedy has a serious undertone to it. Coco the Scab still makes me laugh. Early on in my refereeing career I was at Rotherham who were playing Chesterfield. Sporadically during the game I heard chants of 'scab, scab' directed at the Chesterfield fans. I asked one of the locals after the game and he explained what is was about with the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire miners not going on strike. I heard it many times subsequently and even in the recent Sheffield United against Forest playoff game.

Listening to JDT in his early interviews it sounds like he wants to give us an identity, something we have been lacking for a long time now. I sincerely hope he is given his head in the transfer market and his judgement backed. Pre season is going to be really interesting and hopefully as we get closer to July 30th we can see things developing. It's only early days but after five years of Mowbray droning on it's good to see our manager actually smiling. -
If he really is from California he could buy a season ticket and donate it to someone if he thinks they are reasonably priced. Let him out his money where his mouth is.

California dreaming!

Some serious ability there. -
I think he makes some salient points. Over to you Swagster.

I'm not keen on the word 'project' but it's hard to disagree with anything else he says. And he said "the fans pay a lot of money". He's on board with us already. 😃😃 -

Oh I will change when I see evidence of it with my own eyes and until that time I will curse the day they came. Do you recall the opening statement from Desai about respecting the legacy of Jack Walker. I wonder what she would say today if she was challenged about it. -

Bloody hell Mowbrays only been gone a month and you're telling me the owners have wised up (after twelve years mind). How was Myers on the gravy train but the current incumbents aren't? If the owners had wised up we would have had more sensible pricing on season tickets and wouldn't be on the cusp of embarrassment. -

And caused the resignation of Alan Myers who was embarrassed by the u-turn. -
This is something Waggott and whoever else in the decision making process should read. https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/every-efl-season-ticket-price-27237210

What a poor and provocative post. Are you aware of what is going on in the world? Maybe remove the 'I'm alright Jack' attitude and see thing from others perspective, others perhaps not in your situation who are prioritising other, more important things. Nobody is happy with this situation but your comments should be directed at the senior management at Ewood.
-
Great stuff by Kamy. Honestly there is the wherewithal amongst many posters on this site to do a far better job than the current incumbents at Ewood. I would love to know if any of the senior management team at Rovers actually spoke to anybody about season tickets.

I'm quite enthused about this appointment despite the convoluted process of getting him. I want to see players playing in their best positions, playing a solid shape which doesn't require a Rocket Science degree to understand but most of all I want winning football. He has to be allowed to manage and bring players in without interference from anybody outside of his team and Broughton. So there it is, simple Mr Tomasson. But the elephant will still be in the room. -
They could offer discounts on 23-24 season for anybody who has bought one for 22-23. Then they could reduce the prices without any drama to try and entice more. But that would mean they got it ridiculously wrong in the first place. That's me dreaming though - I can hear it now "we've done all we can" and "we'll look into it" .
-
I wonder how Waggott will spin that.

Could well be. I saw the article headline without reading it and assumed he would be fit.
