It's been an incredible few days for Ryan Nyambe. Bereft of confidence and dropped in midweek and now back in the team presumably full of confidence.

I don't remember many comments either way when we signed them apart from wanting them both to do well. On that score (no pun) they have failed miserably and the buck stops with Mowbray as it's his job to get value out of his signings. The pair have been Mowbrays biggest failings by a country mile.

Who else wanted the job when Mowbray got it?

Ep 133 - The Man In The Middle
arbitro replied to Herbie6590's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Essentially John the vast majority of teams are a collection of characters and temperaments just like any other workplace. The extremes of nice and horrible guys are in equal measure. That's one of the reasons I don't really buy the team spirit line so many come out with. Many times have I been asked by a player to send off one of their teammates or indeed their manager. The majority of players I came across were pretty much as they were portrayed to the public, both good and bad. -
Championship season 2019-20

Leeds have only used 17 outfield players this season. Waggott will be mourning the loss of 8000 Yorkies paying top dollar next season. -
I would say that's excellent management then. Promoted and money in the bank. When our best centre back goes in the window I hope Mowbray can find a better replacement cheap.

I actually think you are putting up a stoic defence for Mowbray (I wish he could do the same for Rovers ?) but ultimately be is judged on results which are determined by many variables which is what many people are using to defend or criticise. I'm really trying to look ahead and firmly believe we have gone as far as he can take us. For the record I have always said players should not be rewarded for promotions with new, binding and onerous contracts. They have bonus clauses written into their existing contracts to reward them.

Mowbray did inherit some trash but that was three years and more importantly around £20m ago. Whichever way you look at it Mowbray has squandered a significant amount of money and just not improved the squad he inherited proportionately. Another costly aspect of his tenure is the awarding of new contracts to players who simply couldn't contribute enough to improve us. And as you mention Jason Lowe didn't Mowbray want him to stay?

I used this for the current season. https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/west-bromwich-albion/transfers/verein/984

I would call what Mowbray has spent significant. West Brom under Bilic have spent around £18m and brought in more than that on outgoings. According to this Leeds haven't spent anything. Mowbray has had money, he has just squandered the bulk of it on poor players. https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/leeds-united/transfers/verein/399

Were there any specifics? Autumn lasts from the end of September until the end of December.

I watched the first of a three part series called The Rise of the Murdoch Empire in BBC2 this week. I didn't realise how much power and influence this bloke had over the British government spanning a good few years and amazingly the two main parties.

Now that would be interesting. I'd love to know if time has quelled his anger ???. -
Ep 133 - The Man In The Middle

That was in my first season as a Football League linesman Mark and it was actually Terry Genoe's testimonial. It was around that time that I started to move steadily up the ladder. I always thought that my refereeing success ran parallel with the fantastic Rovers years between 90 and 95. As Rovers were clinching the PL I found out I'd been promoted to the Football League referees list following several other promotions in the previous five years or so. -

It was the Black Horse Andy and I was the water carrier ??. I knew Phil well and he worked extremely hard in business and football to achieve what he did. He is now living in Cyprus. -
There seems to be an assumption that all current season ticket holders will renew. Taking everything into account I think we'll be around the 5,000 mark.

Ep 133 - The Man In The Middle
arbitro replied to Herbie6590's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
It started out as a hobby and to try and prolong my active involvement in football but climbing up the ladder has to be aligned to becoming more professional. Very rarely was there a day when I wasn't doing anything that didn't involve refereeing. Training, paperwork, meetings, travelling and the games themselves gave me little time for other things when the 9-5 job is factored in too. -

I don't recognise the nickname - do you know his real name? -

At least it looks like I'm moving on that one John ??. My usual area of patrol hardly got me out of the centre circle. -
A good article which addresses some big deficiencies in the tactics and selection. https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/18583417.another-mid-table-finish-rovers-go/

It's quite simple to me. Nyambe seems to be a quiet, humble lad who won't cause a fuss when he is dropped in favour of Elliot Bennett-Mowbray. It's another example for me of Mowbray picking the low hanging fruit.

Two fantastic posts from Rolo and Matty written with passion and obvious care for our club. If anybody from the club reads this board they should take heed of their words.

Other Football League 2018/19

The first day of pre season training Wycombe had nine players and two of them were trialists. That out Mowbrays bedding in theory into a cocked hat. Excellent from Gareth and his players. I just hope the grounds are open so their supporters can enjoy the ride. -
I believe he did intentionally kick the Barnsley player which is the key point in the referees judgement.

Whilst I don't think Mowbray should be saying publicly that he fined Brereton your assertion that the sending off should have been challenged is wrong in my view. Appealing a sending off costs £500 which is non returnable if the appeal is unsuccessful and there is a possibility of extra games for a frivolous appeal. From my viewing it was a clear sending off and wholly unprofessional from Brereton.
