  1. The irony is though that offside judgements from VAR are the only truly accurate decisions because they are a matter of fact. The only positive from that would perhaps be that it would take less time than the current inordinate amount it takes.
  2. And as of this morning they have sold 30,000 tickets for their playoff final against Oxford on Saturday. I shudder to think how embarrassed we would be with poor ticket sales if we ever got to Wembley under this shower.
  3. 'But we could be another Bolton' has been a favourite saying of some of our more myopic fans. Well with a CEO like this I'd take that in a heartbeat.
  4. It is sometimes conveniently overlooked but the majority of our big signings under Dalglish were sold on for significant profits (although we didn't want some to go). I'm thinking of Shearer, Sutton, Le Saux and others. The converse happened under Kidd and Hodgson when we bought average Joe's for big money and pretty much gave them away. The likes of Carsley, Blake, Dailly, Davies and others were disastrous signings. The success of managers is sometimes determined by the quality of their signings.
  5. It appears from the interview that Eustace has bought into the Raos/Waggott/Pasha tactic of dumbing down any expectations the supporters might have. Just what any prospective season ticket buyer wanted to hear.
  6. He is quick yes. His all round athleticism is one of his assets.
  7. I've been championing this lad for a while now and I see him as a real prospect. He really kicked on in the second half of the season and was the best player in several of the under 21 games I saw. He can play any position down the right side and likes to get forward. If he maintains his rate of progress can see him being a direct challenger to Brittain. The big question is whose idea was it to give him the new deal. It could well have been the last act of Broughton.
  8. This is what we can expect next season. With five games being broadcast live at 12.30 each Saturday and Sunday there is a real chance that a few of our away matches which are over four hours drive (Portsmouth, Plymouth, Cardiff, Swansea, QPR, Millwall, Bristol City and potentially Norwich and Southampton) away will be shown. Once again there is very little consideration given to supporters who were once considered to be the life blood of the game. When will live EFL matches be broadcast? EFL matches will be broadcast on regular midweek slots, and regular weekend slots outside blocked hours across the weekend Regular weekend slots will include: Approximately five matches on a Saturday lunchtime (12.30pm kick-off) Frequent slots on a Friday night and Sunday afternoon (12.30pm kick-off) Additional selected picks on a Thursday and Monday night 10 regular weekend games across the three divisions will be broadcast Five Sky Bet Championship matches Five matches across Sky Bet League One and Sky Bet League Two All other broadcast games include: All opening and final day fixtures in the Sky Bet EFL All midweek league fixtures All bank holiday fixtures including Easter, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day All fixtures played in League One & Two during international breaks All matches played in Sky Bet League One and League Two during International breaks All Play-Off, Carabao Cup and Bristol Street Motors Trophy fixtures (as above)
  9. Thanks Duncan. These are figures that Waggott will hide behind and spin but they don't really tell the truth in my view. On the back of season 22/23 there was a wave of optimism, something I haven't sensed for a few years. Finishing just outside the playoffs and two really good cup runs should have been capitalised on by a season ticket offer which was far more appealing and in line with other local clubs. It wasn't and whilst there was an increase the feeling was that it could have been much bigger by taking what I believe would have been a calculated risk. It did it for me when Waggott boasted in a Fans Forum about season ticket income being the highest ever (or something along those lines). I have said for some time that there should be two targets one being income from season tickets and the other being the number sold. It's about the low hanging fruit for Waggott, the path of least resistance. I don't think he is the post for the right reasons, it's about self preservation and that is really damaging to our club.
  10. Rovers accepted the first firm offer that was made. The bid came in on the Monday morning and was accepted. Adam was told about it and that he wouldn't be playing that night against Wrexham. It was decided in the afternoon that he could be on the bench but wouldn't be coming on. The next morning he was in London. There was no negotiations. Palace played a blinder and knew about our precarious financial predicament of the owners making and that we were desperate for money. Palace had us over. I'll ask again what qualifies the owners, Waggott or Suhail to put a price on any player.
  11. They aren't following the script. Spurs are a bit like Nobbers in that when you want them to get a result they flunk it.
  12. There are some really interesting numbers in this table which is essentially about away followings. When you consider that Millwall, Cardiff and Bristol City were night matches and Norwich was a 12.30 kick off our away support is better than it ought to be.
  13. I can't understand how, if the error was noted before the 11pm deadline how the paperwork couldn't have been sent then with the push of a button. I seem to remember the report from the O'Brien and Brierley fiasco mentioned a small period of grace after the deadline. I'm not questioning your information but something about this doesn't stack up.
  14. Playing Devils Advocate then Mike why wasn't the send button pressed when they realised it hadn't been done originally. If the Fleck deal went through just before the 11 pm deadline on the face of it another deal would surely have gone through too albeit really close to the deadline. From memory the Koumetio deal was done closure the deadline too.
  15. Somebody has their ear for sure. I think Waggott and Suhail are so much in their comfort zones as illustrated by Waggott's ambition last season of avoiding relegation. They don't want too much expectation from anybody so insult our intelligence by coming out with ludicrous statements. To him and Suhail avoiding relegation will have been sold to the owners as meeting their targets. Very few people can breach the circle of trust between them two and the errant ones.
  16. It took Mowbray five seasons to achieve his highest Championship points tally and over several windows he was given healthy budgets. Tomasson did it in his first season with a paupers budget. And he bettered anything that Mowbray did in the FA and League cups. His 'tantrum'was because he was misled on several occasions. No real comparison unless you are just being a contrarian.
  17. For me this pretty much boils down to who has the ear of the owners and who has a hotline to them. I doubt whether Tomasson, Silvester or Broughton ever had any direct contact with the owners but Waggott and Suhail do - frequently. There is a lot of ruthless self preservation going on here and it reminds me of the days of Kean, Agnew and Anderson when the owners wouldn't listen to anyone else and the turmoil that followed was inevitable. The full should have started at the very too like any normal business - ask yourself why it wasn't.
  18. I had an email yesterday containing the 1875 newsletter. Interestingly at the bottom they have a link in which you can register interest for joining again next season. They know that it is highly likely that people will join to be certain of getting Burnley tickets assuming they come down. I only joined the last time to ensure we got tickets for Harrogate. I suggested at the time to Fraser Read that the club introduce a loyalty scheme whereby you get points for away attendance ensuring that loyalty is rewarded. It appears that Rovers are once again picking the low hanging fruit and once again rinsing the supporters.
  19. Cheston, Silvester and reportedly Broughton all leaving yet Waggott and Pasha survive. Add to that Tomasson actually name checking them both in his post match interview after his last game. Could it because Waggott and Pasha have a direct line to India and the others don't? Something smells again.
  20. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-13396743/Championship-clubs-increase-permitted-lose-three-years-2-5m-following-rise-operational-costs-staff-wages.html Championship clubs have agreed to increase the allowable losses over a three year period by £2.5m. It is now £41.5m. This comes into effect shortly before the new Sky deal kicks in and the EFL have said it is to cover increases such as energy charges. Cue agents of players ringing CEO's today to renegotiate their clients deals.
  21. I watched the first episode of Tattooist of Auschwitz at the weekend. I was mightily impressed by the cinematography, acting and script. It's wasn't an easy watch in parts but I would certainly recommend watching it. It's on Sky Atlantic.
  22. Szmodics was amongst the crowd watching Bolton play Barnsley last night.
  23. He hasn't accepted responsibility but said all processes would be reviewed and another situation false where we missed the deadline to sign a player. Was the review ever done or was it lip service to appease us. Silvester has gone so he undoubtedly is the fall guy but but I am told Broughton is going too allegedly in a cost cutting exercise. Make of that what you will.
  24. Probably £2m in permanent signings and a considerable amount in loan fees to a club like us is a lot of money. Factor in wages and there is very little value for money.
