  1. Gary "shame Blackburn went down" Lineker and Newcastle fan Shearer in the studio - I think I'll have the sound turned down
  2. Root cut the silly Bazball shots out and scored a fine century - odd isn't it?
  3. There's some good players in the England cricket team but they're being badly managed. Same with the rugby and football. England should be doing so much better given their resources
  4. Well that was a tremendous few days for English sport. Rugby team capitulates to Scotland followed by a predictable collapse by England’s batsmen and inevitable defeat. Tremendous effort by all concerned
  5. But he wasn't given the "resources"; he knew the "project" he was sold was a lie; he knew Waggott and Co were useless; he knew the club was dysfunctional; he knew it was never going to work. He offered to resign by all accounts but stayed on. And here we are in relegation trouble because he oversaw a disastrous sequence of results for which he was responsible. None of this is new but easy to see.
  6. Obviously, but the manager is responsible for results
  7. Last 7 wickets fell for 35. Anderson out for a duck reverse sweeping. It's that kind of thoughtless cricket which loses matches India now 37 off 6, with Joe Root opening the bowling and serving up full tosses.
  8. All very true but if we do go down Tomasson will be to blame. The horrendous run in December and January under him has put us in this precarious position and it's clear now he was not being honest with himself by staying on at the club so long. If he'd resigned sooner we might not be in this mess.
  9. Regardless of the outcome this is a pretty pathetic showing so far by England. India’s tail enders made 130, the sum total of England’s score now with 8 wickets down
  10. Good post. Big interview with Jim Ratcliffe in the paper. Talked about the importance of having a long term Man United club philosophy, a way of playing that should carry on seamlessly over the years, and appointing managers who fit in with that philosophy, and the dangers of constantly changing managers with a different outlook.
  11. Chair hasn't got a leg to stand on and other clubs shouldn't be taking this sitting down. They should table a motion demanding he is benched until the appeal takes place.
  12. If you know, you know And I put money on it ....not alot but enough for a pint or two Aye thenk you!
  13. The gap is narrowing as we get to the business end of the season Fixture list looks difficult too. It's going to need to big effort and some luck to stay up
  14. Jarrad Branthwaite getting much praise at the moment and even being mentioned in England terms. It's odd because he was distinctly underwhelming with us and Harwood-Bellis looked the much better player. It has to be said - we had some excellent loan players with us under Tony.
  15. Good day for England although the 8th wicket stand is annoying. England will want a first innings lead of at least 75
  16. Norwich in good form and a different prospect to the team we outplayed earlier in the season I'd happily take a draw and another point towards staying in this division Rovers 1 Norwich 1
  17. That's the old Joe Root, playing a proper Test innings with patience and careful defence. No Bumrah to torment him but hopefully that's the last we shall see of his Bazball type shots in this series. Cricket's a simple game when it's played properly.
  18. RIP "Bionic" Bradshaw, another one taken too soon We've had some great goalies over the years And some great shirts too. This and the 1950s/60s V-necks are my favourites
  19. The big picture with Leonard is he contributes very little outside the box so if he's not taking his chances and scoring goals there's very little point him being in the team except to fill a shirt because we're so desperate at the moment. I suppose I still haven't forgiven him for missing a golden chance at the start of the second half when he was through on goal with just the keeper to beat in the league cup tie at Chelsea. I was right behind the goal and everyone around us couldn't believe he missed. Just don't rate the lad - sorry
  20. I don't see how he can be labelled a good goalscorer when he misses more than he scores. Sorry - just don't rate the lad. I've also seen nothing which suggests Telalovic might develop into a Brereton. And he's 24 too, not a youngster. This is probably as good as he'll ever be
  21. Blimey, that's a very rose-tinted view of a very average player who for a man of his size and physique has very little power, isn't particularly quick and cannot outjump players 6 inches of more shorter than him Don't get me wrong, he has a part to play and we need him at the moment but let's not get carried away
  22. I don't like to disagree but a boycott will achieve little IMO other than damage the club in the long term. Fans who stay away get out of the habit of going to football and then they are lost forever - and we don't have the population or fans base in the area to replace them. Proper protests - and you know what I mean by that - is the only way to get rid of this lot and show they are not wanted, or at least in the short term the useless lump of a CEO.
