  1. 1-1 draw to the Rovers.
  2. what do you suggest azzyb?
  3. Rover6 you're embarrassing yourself, why not give it a break? Whilst Hughes has made mistakes - show me a manager who hasn't, he gets most things right and as I said have you ever seen this lad play? On the omeny Rev, you never know if MGP is going to change the game. You don't think that when Peter is on the pitch. Not yet anyway.
  4. Agree on Peter, Den.
  5. You've never seen him play unlike Hughes and his staff who've seen him week in week out. When and if he's ready for the top flight he'll play. If he's not good enough he'll fund himself at somewhere like Blackpool where the last player you championed ended up.
  6. One of the things I love about Ewood is the fact that the cornes aren't filled in. It gives the ground a connection with locality and a sense of place. Sat in a host of the newly developed grounds, you could be anywhere in the country or world for that matter. And if you don't like looking at the Riverside, do what I do and sit in it. As for ideas for its redevelopment, what about a terrace?
  7. We need to start to pick up some points, as Phil says we are only four points ahead of the relegation zone. A defeat I'm afraid unless Hughes manges to reshape the team so that it stops conceeding soft goals. 4-5-1?
  8. We can't make any real conclusions from one game, let's wait until the "experiment" is over. (Altough other than making these games free i don't really know what else the club can do.) Like Colin here are a few observations. If you make it too cheap then there is a possibility that fans stop attaching any real value to going to games. Living in Manchester I have no real idea of how the club markets these games locally. Could more be done to lead on price reductions. Theon's point about a collapse in interest in the club/game amongst layers of part time supporters strike me as the most important issue. A lad I sit next to tells me how he knows lots of "fans" who watch on legal and illegal TV and call him a mug for shelling out for a season ticket when players are earning £40k a week. No doubt the lustre of the Shearer years has worn off, but there seems to be a more significant cultural shift, which effects Rovers more than other clubs because of the unique situation we find oursleves in. But Man City, Bolton, Boro and other are experiencing similar problems, so we're part of general development. It is difficult to know where the club goes with reduced ticketing for premiership games. And lastly...I've banged on about this for some time, but look at the demographic, economic and other data and the club is persuing a strategy in very, very unfavourable circumstances a fact not understood by the outside world. Up the Rovers!
  9. HAs anyone seen a better passer of the ball at ewood?
  10. Bloody hell Revidge. Tugay had a great game and misplaced only a couple of passes.
  11. My point was directed toward Chelsea because of the labelling or us as bully boys a couple of seasons ago by Mr M.
  12. How well did Drogba dive, cheat and foul?
  13. Six yellow cards and a series of thuggish tackles. Chelsea bully boys.
  14. If we lsot eight on the bounce noone on Fleet St would be the least bit interested. However a club like WH, who have won nothing and done nothing for secades are lauded as a great club with pedigree.
  15. Good post, as usual, Scotty. Rover 6 wide of the mark again with Mokoena. He's excellent when we need to defend lead in a five.
  16. Not sure I care what Sir A says on the subject and South Aussie, you don't have to part with cash to watch the crap bolton serve up. Theno, Tthere are other small clubs, Fulham, Charlton, us, who try to play decent football.
  17. Bolton are the best example of how to ruin football as a spectator sport and any defence of their style of play is a complete and utter joke.
  18. I think Chelsea had two shots on target all game. A boring, boring team.
  19. I think the main issue here is that the Rovers now have a small but vocal group of supporters who feel obliged to chant racist or far-right songs. I saw it at Celtic and Old Trafford. There have reports of similar events at Liverpool and the two european games.
  20. Well done Rovers and hope you all had a great time. Sat in my office report writing....say two minutes of highlights.
  21. I don't think there is a fixture that I look forward to less than Bolton. A shocking team of play actors with a long ball mentality. Absolute garbage. A complete and utter disgrace to football. And they brought ten fans last year. Thank god I'm in Amsterdam celebrating my wedding anniversary.
  22. If I can find it I'll dig out a new report called "The State of English cities" which is a survey of economic performance, growth and wealth. It makes for depressing reading for Blackburn. I've reported some of this before, but the town is ranked as the highest in terms of fall in family disposable income - quite a shocking statistic. I'll find it today at work and come back with some details.
  23. The football we saw, in particular during the second half was as good as anything at Ewood for a long time. However reading the qualities today you wouldn't know that. We are still being completely ignored by the press and tv medias. i think we could win the Uefa Cup and they'd still be blathering about bloody Tevez or Harry or some other bugger. One other thing, I remember some pundit commenting that you can measure the quality of a team by its full backs. Well the two Aussies are as good as anything this season, and who could have predicted that?
  24. Actually 1864, we created enough good chances in the first half to be 3-1 up at the break. Another super performance from the blues.
