  1. In all honesty, probably. It’s not an impossible task by any means, but I don’t see Venky’s as being capable, or having the desire to “put things right”.
  2. Fair question Joe... my opinion, for what it’s worth... For me Jack’s legacy goes beyond the fixtures and fittings. Yes, the stadium and training ground are part of it, but the intangibles are overlooked. People talk about how we have now “found our level” due to where we were league position wise in the 70s and 80s. I disagree. Jack coming in, modernising the ground, creating Brockhall, and putting us amongst the big boys later a foundation that allowed us to remain a competitive Premier league outfit after he passed away. We were so well run that we were highlighted in parliament as being the ideal model in terms of how a club should be run; Manageable debt levels, when we made a loss it could be offset with a player sale, and modest investment from the trust occasionally. We were one TV deal away from realising Jack’s vision of being self sufficient. This is a massive part of his legacy that has been wrecked by Venky’s. And it’s not a case of natural order being restored, or us finding our level. I like the analogy of a lottery win - Jack coming along was like your numbers coming up. It gave us a platform for the future. It took Venky’s mere months to piss it all away.
  3. Nope. I presume it was farmland and the hospital still at that time. I think the training facilities opened there, if memory serves me correctly around 1994. In some of the autobiographies I’ve read from players with us at that time they talk about how big a change it was. I don’t know exactly what it looked like then, but I presume there have been regular upgrades between its opening and now. Edit - see Perth Blue’s post above
  4. I am so, so sick of this lazy argument. Stop running down your own club. The only way these clubs are comparable to us is they are based in what was Lancashire. We are Blackburn Rovers, not Bury! We have a glorious history, we are more successful, we have a bigger fanbase... We could be the next Leicester, if we had remotely competent owners.
  5. It was in the press release the club put out yesterday morning.
  6. @JoeH Please don’t take this as a dig, but the “Brockhall is 30 years old” comment that the club have been peddling and you used before is wrong, as has been previously pointed out. 30 years ago we were managed by Don Mackay, an extremely nice bloke who did good work but couldn’t quite take us to the level we aspired to be at... but that’s a whole other story. We trained amongst the dog shit and hearses on Pleasington. Flippant, dismissive and erroneous comments about the top notch training facilities and academy that Jack gave us really rankle. It’s symptomatic of the general disregard for Jack’s legacy from those currently within the club.
  7. My view is that the training complex is very much an afterthought. The club trying to spin this as progressive seems on the surface a complete untruth. There’s nothing revolutionary in those plans. We seem to be getting less football pitches and indoor facilities that are, at best, the same as we already have. Certainly no better. This is all about houses, and therefore money.
  8. Drawn up by these people for the club...
  9. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Hv0uYmmRjzWeYAq86QASRwnQVDLKRVIb/view?fbclid=IwAR0VP3sidwAB4tk-zy4J3iKnQf7XkTUefUW4h4plqhMYgxvEuQszRbv4k6w There’s the plans... a lot more about houses than training facilities.
  10. Couldn’t agree more with this. I loved Robbie Savage, but Travis is becoming a budget version of him.
  11. That’s a quote straight from Mowbray. Funny thing is, it might be more private now, but another 170 houses on the doorstep makes that argument a bit redundant.
  12. It was opposed by the club and subsequently rejected. Had they not opposed it I reckon it would’ve snook through, although in all honesty it would be a bit of a stretch for Brockhall to be considered for an ACV. Cheston was quizzed about why the club opposed it at one of the consultation meetings. I might have some notes somewhere, I’ll see if I can dig them out.
  13. If Mowbray was potted tomorrow, I’d place big money on it being Pulis. He’s out of work currently and not only have Venky’s previously baulked at paying compensation, HSH would obviously rather fix up one of their men than just move one from one role to another. Other names are: Steve Cooper - we aren’t going to tempt him away from Swansea. Mark Robins - his stock is currently rising. Despite the argument I’ve had on Facebook last night we’d be a big step up from Cov. The rest are pretty uninspiring... Dean Keats, Gary Holt, Craig Bellamy, Sami Hyypia are all in various coaching or director of football roles. Oh, and there’s Paul Jewell too.
  14. It’s HSH. The shared agents of Bowyer, Lambert, Coyle and Mowbray. We went into more detail on our show last night. Available on demand, just select PODCAST from the menu... https://roversradio.airtime.pro/#
  15. Some pre match build up and a lot of current issues being discussed from 6pm https://roversradio.co.uk/listen-live We will open with a song dedicated to Mowbray
  16. Chaddy - it’s interesting you are so affronted by fans referring to Nyambe as a prospect because he is 23. You don’t seem to mind Mowbray referring to him and players of a similar age as young boys and babies. What you are saying about Raya is complete revisionism. You might get away with it in a decade or so, but not while the stench of Christian Walton still lingers.
  17. He is left to defend 2 or 3 v 1 multiple times every game. And who should he cross to? Gallagher will be stood in the corner flag looking to play a 1-2, Armstrong will be lurking on the edge looking for the 30 yarder... our movement in the box is woeful. Nothing much wrong with his delivery when he has a target. Nyambe will get a move to a club better positioned than us and never look back. He’ll play in the premier league within 3 years. Meanwhile, our fans can re-imagine him as an utter bastard and a liability, and claim that £2 million and a sell on fee was shrewd business when he is linked to a decent Premier League outfit for big money. And we can all happily rave about how lucky we were to see Harwood-Bellis in blue and white when he makes his move to Crystal Palace in search of first team football in 2025, while we wonder if this season we will finish 8th, 9th, 10th or 11th.
  18. That’s the last game that stands out as an excellent performance. Spot on with what you say about our early season form. We are now a far cry away from anything approaching those early performances, and Mowbray appears to be getting increasingly desperate, but equally unable to recreate it. Sadly those performances seem to be the exception. The last couple of months of dross looks to be Mowbray’s normal.
  19. We talk about people currently with HSH. To be honest we haven’t spent a great deal of time discussing our preferred replacements because I don’t believe Mowbray is under any pressure from Venky’s and won’t be going anywhere soon. On air from 6pm - 7pm https://roversradio.co.uk/listen-live also worth noting we recorded yesterday afternoon before his latest interviews. There’d be some talking points with this latest nonsense.
  20. The agency that represents Mowbray... and Coyle... and Lambert... and Bowyer... and is made up of 2 ex SEM directors.
  21. Playlist for tomorrow’s Rovers Radio Pre Match Show...
  22. Mowbray’s recent interviews should be hugely concerning to any member of the board or the owners. He sounds like he has lost the plot. His latest comments about Nyambe are dreadful. The worst example in a long line of very shoddy treatment he has dished out to him. We discussed this massively on our Saturday show on Rovers Radio. It’ll be touched on again tomorrow... but we recorded before this interview went to press. Also gonna be discussing the HSH link, looking at possible replacements, being generally pissed off, and bemoaning the fact that we don’t actually think he is under any pressure. Oh, and the show kicks off, rather appropriately with “Go Now” by Moody Blues. Limbo.
  23. Just over half an hour to go... https://roversradio.co.uk/listen-live
  24. Fair point. Our margins on all products are pretty minimal. We don’t have the financial clout to hold stock so we use a service that allows us to print on order. We do continually look for ways to bring the costs down and hopefully we can do so substantially in the future. Can’t make any promises, but hopefully it’ll be soon. 🤞🤞 The price point I don’t think is too dissimilar to a gig t-shirt, kind of how we wanted to pitch them. I don’t think the comparisons to Waggott’s surcharge are fair. We can’t help the tax, and I find it incredibly annoying. It’s not an attempt to grab money. Anything we do make off merchandise goes back into the running of Rovers Radio where costs run into thousands of pounds per year.
