  1. Think the only chance we have of signing him is if we get promoted. Think the lad is destined for bigger things than Rovers in PL. His performances will not have gone unnoticed.
  2. I remember the match back in 1966/67 quite well. A big crowd on that day (pushing 30,000) with a big Coventry following. Thought we had the beating of them until Fergie did what Fergie did and stuck a real one on a Coventry player in the first half (and sent off) and it was always going to be up hill then to a good team. Think Bobby Gould netted their winner? Going for a surprise Rovers' win - we've injuries and so have they and Mowbray always seems to come up with a surprise result when he needs to take the pressure off himself.
  3. Absolutely. A huge concern for Rovers - could finish his season. Lenihan and Van Hecke injured on international duty and with Ayala also out for goodness how much longer, defensively we look to be struggling for at least the Coventry match and very possibly Blackpool as well.
  4. Might be wrong here but think the turning point for Garner under Kendall came in a 1-0 Rovers' win at Chesterfield in the height of winter. Seem to recall Garner netting with a header at the 'open' end. It was one bloody cold day and a treacherous journey there and back.
  5. That brought back some memories! Simon Garner at what he did best. Sellers a superb talent - what we would give for a craftsmen like that now. Andy Kennedy wasn't great but in a different league to Gallagher. Happy times.
  6. Mowbray himself told us in Blues 2 or 3 years ago that he was appointed to keep Rovers in the Championship - we were relegated so he failed - end of. If a roofer tells me he can fix my leaking roof but it still p1sses in then then he's failed. This is not rocket science. Would not have Dunn in any capacity. Will not forget his 'support' for Kean. As a football manager / coach, I see no track record of success with him - IMO, a failure in that field. IMO, some of the football under Mowbray has been absolute dire worse than anything I've seen in some 60 years watching Rovers.
  7. IMO, we someone to come in and make an immediate impact. With Warnock's personality, he would do that. Just what on earth have we to lose if you think Mowbray has lost the dressing room and totally lost the plot and the evidence I see suggests to me he has. There will be some who hide behind Brereton's injury and say give him another 12 months, come September it will be give him until Christmas, come November it will be give him until after the January 2023 window and on and on and on, IMO, the feckin misery and hopelessness will go. We need change and now. Rovers need to be bold and brave and on many occasions fortune favours the brave.
  8. Yet you still back him !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bullsh1t! IMO, none of our managers back in those days were as tactically inept as this clown. The wise ones know that you first need a half decent manager! The owners DO NOT select the players, play players out of position or set the team up with diabolical TACTICS. One person only is to blame for this tactical mess and that's, IMO, Pep Mowbray! Spot on. The wise ones amongst us don't buy, IMO, the Mowbray bullsh!t. Made no prediction today on this MB. I lost all faith with our manager after Wednesday's debacle even though we won. I think Mowbray has lost the dressing room and totally, totally lost the plot. The only good thing to come out of today is I backed Reading!!! I would sack, IMO, this absolute clown of a manager tonight and appoint Warnock until the end of the season with a £1million bonus if he gets us up.
  9. After over 5 years in charge, if his signings / selections had played consistently well then we would be in the PL. We have yet to finish a season in the top 6 of the Championship under Mowbray after 5 years in charge. That, IMO, is not progress.
  10. No but he signed / selected the players who did!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. I think it's Andy Bayes doing the interview. IMO, our local journalists lack balls and don't ask the questions they should and it's why they'll go no further than Radio Lancashire / LT. I know they have to strike the right balance but, IMO, rolling over and having your stomach tickled is spineless. Contrast with MEN journalists who are quite scathing when they think a manager's time is up at Old Trafford.
  12. No, IMO, the players were playing for themselves and the fans. Think Mowbray's second half demeanour and post match interview said it all.
  13. For a big part of the interview, I think Mowbray seems to be giving the 'v sign' (a Peter 'Kayism') - watch his two fingers on his forehead, never seen such a mannerism from him before. IMO, 'trouble-at-t- mill'.
  14. You want fire and aggression from your number 9. Psychologically, it puts the fear of God into defenders. You don't need to be the greatest of players as the likes of Andy Lochhead and Joe Jordan etc showed.
  15. I think he might well have 'lost the dressing room' and he wont like that one little bit. If he has, he's finished.
  16. By the time we go to Deepdale, we'll already have secured a top six place. This league other than Fulham and to a lesser extent B'mouth is bang average and it's why a bang average team like Rovers, despite a horrible run, are still in the top six. We make the play offs then we go up despite a manager like Mowbray. Fortunately, we have a number of players who can produce some almost magical moments, sadly not consistently or frequently enough and it's such moments that win 'big' matches.
  17. This one is a gem! Usually reserve it for a Sunday roast but a great afternoon's racing from Cheltenham followed by a Rovers' win merits something a little special.
  18. Obviously, a game of two halves. First half worse than Kean / Coyle eras and showed just why Mowbray has to go irrespective of where we finish this season. How can a manager get it so sadly and desperately wrong. Second half - surprise, surprise. Play Gallagher where he feckin should play and he's a different proposition. Also, use Giles how and where he should be used and he will create chances. IMO, Mowbray comes out of this game with very little credit and his second half demeanour might indicate he knows he's out soon. Keeps the dream alive. Lovely double win on the betting (Rovers' win and Rovers to score more than 2!). Going to get my feet up and enjoy a Famille Gonnet Font du Vent Chateauneuf-du-Pape.
  19. The worse half of football I've seen from Rovers for a long, long time. This is as bad, if not worse, than anything we saw under Kean or Coyle. Let that sink in. Absolutely diabolical.
  20. Not great that one! However, up in 3 and down in 3 so far with Run Wild Fred in 17.30 still to go. £60 up so far with enough left for a half decent red even if Run Wild Fred doesn't deliver.
  21. Derby are in real turmoil, in administration with a very uncertain future. Looking at recent results, Derby fare badly against top 6 sides. Surely, surely, surely, this will be the win we desperately need. Gone for Rovers win at just less than evens and Rovers to score more than 2 goals at 4/1. I'd go Kaminski / Lenihan, Hecke, Wharton / JRC, Rothwell, Travis, Giles / Dolan / Khadra, Vale Anyone interested in Cheltenham tomorrow and wanting to fill their boots then go big (each way) on Coeur Sublime @ 16/1 in the 14.10!!!
  22. I think you'll find he's Tony's brother and Head of Recruitment at Aberdeen! Worked in recruitment for M'boro when Tony manager there. You couldn't make it up!
  23. 4th v 19th at home with Dack to score a goal anytime! FFS, if that's a lofty prediction then God help us all.
  24. Don't buy your argument. After watching football for decades, I've heard that argument time and time and time again 'creating chances but not taking them'. You will hear that argument from 90% of teams, managers and fans of those who failed to win today. Bottom line - we needed a feckin striker in January but, IMO, our bollock brain of a manager didn't think we did.
  25. I would sack Mowbray tonight. Appoint Neil Warnock on a short term contract until the end of the season with a £1million bonus should he get us promoted. I think the rest of the play-off contenders would sh1t themselves.
