Oh, and to drag myself back to football... That artist's impression of the new Birmingham City ground is a bit much, but at least it shows a bit of character and uniqueness. Sooner that than some plastic box torn from a catalogue page.

Thoroughly enjoyed the chat this last few pages... I am from that part of town but was born far too late to ever do the Revidge Run in any proper guise but can remember most of those pubs being open when I was growing up. Social history fascinates me, certainly that which I can relate to. A lost world now but that's life, for better or for worse. Thankfully, as an adult I moved somewhere that still has pubs aplenty 😎

Do you actually read posts before you reply ?? I'm talking about the sheer volume of people who've already paid now not turning up. I'm talking about those who are match by match buyers, normally 2-3k every home match even when shite, not turning up. If we were in 7/8th place they would. Not many have defended Rovers support more than me but at times it's dire and any excuse not to go. We know some can't afford it, we know the season tickets need to be priced for the area to have any impact on improving sales BUT we have a hardcore of 12/13k most of whom turn up regularly but now aren't. It's a double sided issue of course it is but those just not bothering because the form has been crap are going to do more damage because Venkys non football people only ever look at the balance sheet. Not WHY it's like it is they don't care their job is to balance the books and league 1 support will lead to league 1 if they get their way. -

Duru will make an acceptable back-up at right wing-back. -
Some fine pubs in there - downed a few in all of them. Did the 'Revidge run' 3 or 4 times and on one occasion we foolishly called taxis fron The Woodlands and ended up at Trader Jack's in Blackpool and blagged a couple of rooms at The Imperial. Sadly, pubs are dead now unless there's a good food offering.

I happened to be driving into Blackburn when the Thwaites workers changed the sign after the closure was announced; LET; Thwaites sign changed I used to love the Revidge run. I once made it from the Woodlands to the Bonny Inn in time for one before closing. I also spent a good few nights in Jazzy's too. It was a great place. Tequila shots for £1 some nights. They were awful, but cheap. Sorry for the distraction. Back to the Championship. If PNE are in a playoff spot the overall quality of the division is sorely lacking. -
Really hope Tronstad is fit because without him it is a massive downgrade. I quite like TGH but he's a Travis type box to box player, not someone who can control the game like Sonny... Thinking about it if Tronstad is out I would be tempted to play TGH and Forshaw together as they would suit each other. Montgomery and TGH both won't have that discipline and technical to sit in front of the defence imo and distribute the ball.

Venky’s (& Suhail) Out Protest Ideas

People having to be cautious I think. As Glen commented on, legal threats have been issued. Sad state of affairs. -
In 442 I'd probably say the best setup would have been to have picked Carrick and Gerrard together in the centre as they would have complemented each other well (Gerrards engine and tackling ability getting him in), Beckham on the right and Joe Cole on the left (the least squarish of the pegs as he could carry the ball out wide and played there somewhat for Chelsea). And then put Lampard and Scholes on the bench. Which is completely mental, but you have to pick the right balance for the team. Anyway, bottom line is we had too many similar players, and as a result we were substantially worse as a team than those individuals on paper would suggest.

End of the day you are up against it straight away if you only sell 9k STs. And it really comes to the fore for night games as small away followings, smaller number of walk ons and ST holders giving it a serve… of course, as always, sell more STs in the first place and you have that larger crowd in the tent to start with to build from. Alas the regime aren’t interested in that. -
Carrick was criminally underrated and underused by England. He was the perfect player to have behind Gerrard and Lampard.

Hare and Hounds was still doing really well too considering the demographic change in Lammack. -

Im happy he threw Pratt in. Made sense tbf, its a sink or swim opportunity and if he wouldn't get used now when will he ever!?. He did alright. I have to say it shut me up a bit the performance. I thought we would get beat 3/4-1. Some players starting to show signs they've got it at this level. Id say we still need another aerial winning CB through the door as we've only realistically got Pratt, Mcloughlin, miller and wharton. Sadly I've given up hope on carter. Id also look at RWB cover for alebiousu, its a shame Duru doesnt seem to be doing too much on loan (I dont think, unless im wrong?!), could of been a backup option when needed for alebiousu if he'd turned to something promising... I feel we have enough CMs to get by. We need another striker, because if Gudjohnsen gets injured im not sure who actually would score. I imagine pickering and gueye will be offloaded if we can find a cb and a striker. -

We have sold c9k season tickets and always usually sell a couple of thousand match tickets yet 7-8k have been turning up recently. Night games always impacted yes but it's getting ridiculous now and excuses are way too easy. We know the issues but it isn't the teams fault and these 'silent protests' do more harm than good. End of the day a supporter - if he can - supports, so it's time to get back to that, win or lose. Otherwise it just plays right into the hands of the Venky cost cutters, ave gates down this season = cut the wage bill further. Gates of below 11/12k are a nonsense we are Blackburn Rovers not Wigan Athletic. Support the team not the regime. -

Apologies for taking the thread off topic - the last word on beer from me in this thread but hopefully people will find some of it interesting. I always classed the Revidge run as starting at either the Knowles Arms at the bottom of Pleckgate Rd or the Hare and Hounds at Lammack Rd depending on which direction you were coming from. (There's still the Wilpshire Hotel, Rising Sun and Brownhill Arms left in the Brownhill area. The Bulls Head has been a Co-op for many years which I refused to go in for ages on principle. The landlord of the Rising Sun is a keen Rovers fan, the outside of the building has been painted blue and white, there's a room with Rovers memorabilia and last season he was doing cheap Japanese bottled beer if Ohashi scored and a disgusting blue cocktail of some sort called a "Cantwell". Not certain if he's still doing those) After that it's a completely barren wasteland now pub wise. Depending on how far you wanted to wander off a straight line, you had at one time The Knowles, The Royal Oak, The Sportsman's, Hole ith Wall, Hare and Hounds, Corporation, Dog Inn, Quarrymans, Gibraltar, (The Gib) Alexandra Hotel, (The Alex) Leamington, Fox and Grapes, West View and Woodlands. The Knowles is now a fully fledged restaurant (Ego) and you can just get a drink in there but the bar area is a fairly joyless experience. The Royal Oak on Pleckgate Rd is I think open but up for let and the last two standing the Hare and Hounds and the Alex went in the last couple of months or so. Sue the landlady at the Alex died and Robbo the guy who had the Hare and Hounds sold to the Issa's which I was very upset about in both instances.
