  1. Past hour
  2. Even the much exaggerated figures are well below that amount Sidnei Tavares €2.00m Axel Henriksson €860k Dion De Neve €750k All of the above in Euros, not £s, and not a chance those amounts are anything other than hypothetical add ons for various "ifs" "buts" & "maybes" I would be genuinely amazed if the guaranteed payments on the 3 of those combined are any more than £1.5M
  3. His kicks upfield are poor. Whilst the goals he has conceded haven't been terrible, some have been saveable by a better keeper like Toth, who pulls off saves you wouldn't expect. Something Pears rarely does. Toth also has better positioning and handles crosses better. The goals conceded ratio has gone up since Toth's injury. I wouldn't necessarily play Toth immediately, as he has been out for a while and we don't want a recurrence, or for him to come back in a bit cold and lose confidence if something goes wrong. But I'd hate for us to sit him on the bench for a month or two until Pears makes a glaring error. It would cost us points to take that approach.
  4. I'd be really interested to know what the main decision is for those who go as to why they're not prepared to boycott, ones I can think of myself are: - the owners don't care and it won't work - not fair on the players - it's really important part of my routine or the routine of my dependents (e.g. children, elderly or vulnerable) which I cannot forgo, even for one game - I don't care about what happens off the pitch, I just 'back the boys' no matter what - No one tells me what to do That last one in bold is something I heard a few people saying at Ewood on Saturday, that included people who chant against the owners etc. I don't really understand that last one, just sounds like oppositional defiance. For each of those above reasons not to boycott, it's hard to get a message or interaction across that can interact with each point and put something convincing across without attracting hostile responses. I sympathise with the coalition on that point, it's very difficult
  5. I will agree. Millwall were flying high & we got all 3, but M’bro is even better. Solid club at the moment, & Rovers are still beat up. 1-1.
  6. I don't think even our best first eleven is a top six team, honestly. Comfortably mid-table, yes, but I wouldn't go any further than that. Too many inconsistent players - but when you pay minimal fee and wages, you can't expect any more than that. It's a lower quality league this season for sure. If we'd kept a couple of our experienced players, and spent the circa £4.3m wasted on Tavares, De Neve and Henriksson on one really solid Championship player, we would definitely have a team capable of the top six. Whether Ismael could deliver that as manager is doubtful, mind.
  7. Good record up there in recent seasons but I think this one will be a step too far. A draw would be a brilliant result. Suspect it'll be the same team except Hedges in for Pickering. Unless Toth is back (?), in which case him for Pears in goal.
  8. Fundamentally, and I don’t say this lightly, the likes of Glen and the rest of the Coalition decision makers don’t understand the mindset of the majority of the remaining match goers, that’s majority and remaining and their motivations when it comes to their fortnightly or so visits to Ewood - i.e not the likes of us on brfcs/their own social circles that still go but will do whatever it takes to try and get the bastards out or not those that have already stopped going. If they did they would not have gone near an ‘official’ boycott with a barge pole.
  9. Pears has done ok so far - better than feared but hasn’t done enough to warrant not bringing Toth back. The good thing is that the need to rush Toth back has been avoided - get him fit, include him in a match squad once (for routine) and then put him back in. Well done Pears - be ready in case we need you again should be the mantra
  10. The best thing you can do is to use the mute feature. I'm going to take part in the Watford boycott and I am having to seriously consider season ticket renewal after 27 consecutive seasons. However, the responses I've now seen on here, social media more widely in addition what I've heard down at Ewood at the weekend have left me resigned to the fact that it won't work and that many people are going to ignore it. There are certain people on this message board who probably cannot wait for it to fail and you're best muting them.
  11. Where am I pour cold water on people not going? Its their choice. Its a personal choice. I have posted my thoughts on protest and what's gone on in the past seasons of protests/boycotting/etc. I also posted supporters who are still attending and why they are. I asked people around me about this boycott call or NAPM campaign and what they thoughts on it. You attend on Saturday, did you ask people around you about it? No I said I take a break from it. A few days. Its was Josh's post that interested me alot the other day.
  12. I'm not too surprised, they were complete rubbish at Ewood (both teams were). If they play like that most weeks they will join Sheffield Wednesday in L1 next season.
  13. I know it's entirely a matter of choice and personal conscience whether or not you attend games but imo you're treading a dangerously fine line between trolling and not with a flippant and dismissive attitude like that. We all know you won't personally support any form of boycott or protest but why continually pour cold water on the well intentioned efforts of others? Plus you've said at least twice you weren't going to post in this thread any more.
  14. Hence why I thought it was Sheffield Wednesday decision
  15. This made interesting listening, Tronstad apparently has denied stating he wants to move back to Scandinavia. It should start playing when he is the topic of conversation
  16. Oxford's form has been pretty terrible as of late, that random win against Ipswich aside, and there have not been any signs the situation is going to improve. If the club have ambitions to stay in the division, and believe they have a squad that can achieve this, I can understand them rolling the dice - if they've identified someone sensible and pragmatic to give the team a bit of a boost. Whilst I do think Rowett is a decent manager at this level, it's possible he'd just run out of steam at Oxford. Sometimes a change is best for both parties.
  17. What a great article that is. "Ewood Park, home for 135 years, is full of memories and trinkets, that have become ghosts of a time when people were proud to come here". And (Re The Coalition) "Their mandate is everything that's no more, tangible and intangible: investment, ambition, hope." Absolutely nailed it.
  18. Draw would be a fantastic result - Baradji screamer incoming!
  19. Excitement, worry, anxiety, fear, concern, brief raised hopes, ultimately dashed, drift, time, lots of time, slow decline, then finally apathy, because no one cares any more The slow death of a famous football club
  20. Shut the club for a week to save some money
  21. You look through that list of players that need registering, so many are simply not good enough. Gueye, De Neve, Tavares, Henriksson, Kargbo, and then Carter who is no use to us. I think Pickering still has a use far more than Ribeiro who I would be happy to move on too. Strip them out and we have such a small core of players who actually have any use. Obviously you have to tell them at the start of the month, rather than repeat the shoddy Sigurdsson treatment, so they know where they stand. But we shouldnt not sign someone in favour of saving places for players like that.
  22. You do this thing where you just list names without critiquing quality. Miller and McLoughlin are squad player level for me. Only starting every single game IMO out of necessity. Carter is an absolute write off, pointless even listing him. Asking for trouble if we do. Wharton is also really injury prone and wont be back until February and even then, we cant rely on him to stay fit. Pratt has done well, but obviously isnt at a stage where you can consider him a first team regular who can play game after game at this stage. So yeah, I think we need 2. We need a direct Hyam replacement after negligently letting him go, a proven player in the middle of the defence. McLoughlin isnt good enough for that, plus is poor in the air. He is more suited to being an option to the left. The options we do have seem to be predominantly left footer so we could do with a second right footer. 2 more proper first team quality players, McLaughlin, Miller, then Pratt and O'Riordan (if we recall him, if we got 2 I would happily keep him at Doncaster, but would maybe recall him during Jan as we know we will drag out deals so can just send him back at the end of the month) potentially as younger options. That seens much more reasonable to me. It wont happen which is why I think some understate what we need to try and bring it more in line with what might happen.
  23. Daniel Storey in today’s i paper…*that* final paragraph 😢
  24. Sheffield Wednesday won't have told us to take tickets off sale 6 days before the game. It's because the whole club closes down at 4pm today and isn't back open until Tuesday the 30th, so they have taken the easy option of just taking them off sale. It's pretty ridiculous, especially with it being a digital ticket game so nobody needs to get them in the post or collect them from Ewood.
  25. Ah the Irony, it's as thick as butter here.
