The last time I checked the rules allowed up to 4 'local promotions' a season where home fans can be charged less than away fans. So provided that still stands they could designate this as one of those and charge £10 for Rovers fans and more for Ipswich fans. Just as they could put the away fans upstairs in the DE and charge them more for upper tier seating as opposed to the lower BBE. They don't want to do this. They never use the 4 local promotions each season. Any offer to fans usually has various strings attached to make it harder to benefit from it.. Ultimately they don't really want to fill the place up or put out a serious ticket offer. They just want to appear to be doing something probably to cover their own backsides. All this stuff with bundles and bring a friend just doesn't work, especially not in the midweek fixtures. Time and time again the uptake proves it. They don't learn because they don't want to. I doubt they even know about the rule down there. But they'll be looking forward hoping Wrexham bring 7k (unlikely) based off what they did in the cup a few years ago and to that end it's £35 in the Blackburn End for a New Year's Day early kick off. They're only looking at one thing here and it isn't the benefit of Rovers fans or the home ends.

I edited my post as you replied, we are pretty much "aligned" in our thoughts 😉

Because Barrett will still be here when all those depart/get sold. Nobody is paying money for him, so as you say in your earlier post he will be then seen as an "experienced head" to sit on the bench in league one, whether we are there next season or the year after.

I would agree with that argument if he was the cheap 2nd/3rd choice travelling with the squad. But why extend his contract when we already have at least 5 (Toth, Pears, Michalski, Goddard, Honor) better options, & then loan him out anyway? It would have been cheaper to just release him at the end of his contract last summer. This one I put down to incompetence (or pre planned relegation) rather than penny pinching

That was aimed at the 8k -
He's cheap, that's the only criteria here.

I can only imagine it is preparation for him sitting on Rovers bench once we have been relegated & we have either Goddard or Michalski as first choice

He was on the bench because Tranmere opted to play 44 year old Joe Murphy ahead of him. Again the question from me is why on earth he got a deal until June 27 with the option to another year after that.

People on here seem to be creaming themselves over Wrexham in a similar way they were about Preston before that game too. Easiest win for Preston all season blah blah blah. I wouldn’t like to call it but they’ve not been battering teams or indeed scoring many goals. 6 goals in the last 5 games, 3 of which came against Coventry. Should be going into every game thinking we can get a result especially against bloody Wrexham. 2-1 away win, Hyam OG and Gudjohnsen. -

Cantwell will most likely be back but I doubt he’ll start. He’s been out for two months now. Will be eased into the squad. Could possibly start against Ipswich though given our run of games, squad needs rotating somehow. -

Think Montgomery is seriously out of his depth. We cannot start with him in our midfield. -

I called penalty at the time on Gudjonson's first half chance that hit the post. I've seen the replay since and it's definitely a push from behind, otherwise it was a tap in. For me, should have been a penalty and red card. -
Valérien Ismaël: Blackburn Rovers Head Coach
JamieUK replied to DE.'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
He's been in charge for just over 9 months - played 15 home games and won 3. I missed the Millwall game after the shite run of performances beforehand (first time in 30+ years I've chosen not to attend a home game) and was on holiday for the Southampton game. I've seen them win once at home under this manager and last Friday away at North End. 2 live wins in 9 months ffs. No doubt, he is contributing big time to low home attendances regardless who put him in the job. Before last night he needed to win 4 out of these 5 home games over the next 3 week period to change opinions - big pressure next Tuesday against Ipswich now. -

And I would rather save my money, than fund the running by the incumbents.
