I have started thinking maybe rather than the "big six" fucking off to a European Super League, what may well happen first is less well resourced clubs leaving the Football League to form a league more based on the German model with required fan ownership and close spending controls. I think a lot of fans would trade off the quality of players their club can afford to feel like the club is actually "theirs".

If we had kept Travis I thought 2 - box - 3 would work quite well, getting 2 10's on the pitch and using the full backs for width as we've not got much quality out wide. With the sales we've made and the personnel we have 4-2-3-1 is the most obvious choice to persevere with, although with Cantwell often dropping deep it's more of a 4-2-1-2-1

On the face of it should be great news. But then again it doesn't seem logical that our reduced funding has really been linked to the guarantees transfer of money specifically as they could just pay the guarantee anyway. I suppose not having to pay any more lowers the risk, and I guess the feeling of oversight? So maybe that will increase funding again? Confusing. I guess the key question to the clubs is "was the financial planning of the club and transfers assuming the latest £12.5M would arrive, or was it anticipated that this may not be forthcoming so was not planned to be spent?" I suspect that this money was already planned to be spent, but if not wahey! That they are investing in persuing these court cases, sending big sums of money, never the slightest hint they are looking to sell at all suggests that they are invested in the future of the club for the long term. But then again the massive reductions in wage bill, non attendance at games, complete lack of engagement, all suggests they are not. It's one of the great mysteries of all time. Someone somewhere has to be able to explain it. People do not sink £150M+ over more than a decade and fight the Indian government without there being a rationale behind it.

Right now, I feel we just need to go bust and start again. Do a Rangers, Bury etc. This club is a zombie club, with all sorts of nefarious parasites controlling it. Let it die. I've had enough of being violated by crooks and idiots and want to see something that represents the town of Blackburn and it's people. Something that people can really get behind. The FA and Premier League are not fit for purpose and should be scrapped. Too many clubs have gone down similar paths as we're seeing in Sheffield Wednesday. Before them we've had Bury, Bolton, Morecambe and countless others taken over by all sorts of scoundrels. Hell, North Korea nearly owned Notts County.

Agreed. It would be good to be able to understand who owns the club ie who's money it is and where did it come from. We know who's name is on door but how come they have zero interest in football or the club so what's really behind their 'ownership' from afar. If others were involved beyond an advisory capacity they're not going to go away. Any new 'owner' would have to fulfil the same role, whatever that is. Fit and proper rules need a lot of beefing up IMO before we can feel optimistic about any new ownership.

Have you ever encouraged one of these potential buyers to go public? Obviously, not the “done thing” normally however it would be a newsworthy event, and it may be a better way of getting everybody on board re protest of ownership… But what would I know!

The Ribblesdale Tap, owned and invested in by BwD Council closed after a few months. Someone forgot to tell the tenants about the surrounding roads closing due to major construction work. The Council leader went to the opening, I wonder if he went for the closure?

That's a fair point i think it's reasonable to assume that if they did decide to part with it they'd turn to the usual people to handle a source and sale project. Which is probably as terrifying as them continuing to own it.

Yeah, can't go 10 steps in Chorley without passing some micro-bar 😁 wish it was like that when I was drinking there in my teens/20s! (granted you'd also pass a barbers and charity shop at the same time). (having said that, when we used to draw the large followings in the old days, they just stuffed themselves into Spoons). Like you say, I also noticed the club itself has started hosting a lot of away fans going to Rovers, PNE etc. They've had 1000 or so from Boro, Villa and some other clubs over the last year.

The Chorley pub scene on Saturdays is booming now and this plays a part even Chorley FC cater for away coaches going to Ewood. Meanwhile Blackburn town centre has the Postal Order and er.....

Chorley FC are excellent at providing facilities for large followings visiting Rovers. They had up to 1,000 visiting fans on a regular basis. They put on a band and a raffle as well. Many fans also visit the many pubs and real ale / craft ale houses in Chorley where the pub and restaurant scene is vibrant at the expense of Blackburn.

Yes, I also believe that is something the new WATR Board are looking at. There has been keen interest in buying Rovers, information was passed to the club and SW confirmed to us that he was also contacted by a potential buyer. The point of the post above re Preston is to show that there are buyers out there and to try and put to bed the idea that no one would want to buy us. The stumbling block of course is that the owners, and their silent partners, do not appear to want to sell.
