It was imperative England got off to a good start by at least drawing the first Test but they started badly as always - and from then on it was always going to be difficult To me that is down purely to poor preparation. Playing a few one dayers as warm up is not the way to prepare for a tough 5-Test series. Why the management thought it would work only they know. Boycott said it was stupidity - and he was right. The opposition have one exceptional bowler on top form but overall there wasn't much between the bowling attacks. England's bowlers have generally pitched the ball too short - even against the tail enders. That's poor cricket and comes down to the bowling coaches. England's batmen have seriously underperformed. There's little a batsman can do when he gets a very good ball but so many of our dismissals were down to poor shots and muddled thinking, wickets given away time and again. I blame the Bazball mentality for much of that. The least England can do is battle hard in the last 2 Tests and show some pride. Now it doesn't matter and the Ashes are gone I wouldn't put it past them to see them win both

Harry Leonard is a rare success story for the academy, even more so, if he makes it at Peterborough. I can't think of forwards coming through the ranks at Rovers lately to go on to play regular league football.

Off pitch stuff aside, I enjoyed being on Ewood yesterday. It was a nice change walking back up LBR with a smile. We played half decent, deservedly won, and the paltry few in attendance got behind the team. -

I had the feeling he was an athletic type of lad that was “ manufactured “ into a footballer. He’d no six sense in the penalty box, he always seemed to be back on his heels when chances cropped up. -

The timing of it all is off for me. ie just before xmas, with folk on annual get togethers meeting mates and family at the match. The gate against Wrexham will be half decent, simply because it's the festive season. Before we know it, any momentum has been lost, let alone started. Should have waited until early January when people will be on natural downer. -

Any truth on the ‘Pasha Out’ banner being banned from games moving forward? Some rumours it’s been banned with season ticket removal threatened? (Is that really a threat 🤣) -

Exactly what we said would happen, especially for a 3pm. The ‘boycott’ is happening anyway, 6,000 are in the ground midweek, 8,000 on a Saturday. 6,000 for a Championship club of our stature! That should have been shouted from the rooftops through traditional and social media, we didn’t need anything ‘official’. Case study, lad next to me, he’s lamented with me what’s happened to this club every step of the way for a decade plus, he is no way in the ‘who else we gonna get brigade?’ But when I floated the boycott idea him and his mate looked at me like I had two heads. It wouldn’t have entered their minds for a second to do that, or that I would do it either. For them it’s simple; this is who they support, so they turn up, terrible owners and all, they just hope they can see them off at some point. Whilst they are paying the wages the remaining core will be there and as soon as you start making it ‘official’ it actually becomes counterproductive folk get very intransigent about it, ‘who are these people telling me what to do?’ -
This is exactly it. Gudjohnsen just has that striker's instinct. He knows where to be and the movement needed to get there. Gallagher simply does not have this, and he'll never be a proper goalscorer as a result. Mowbray shunted him out on the right to try and make use of his work ethic, but even then his technical limitations made him fairly ineffective. It was rare that I felt Gallagher didn't put the effort in, but during his entire tenure here it never felt like there was a position he was truly comfortable in. I think his best bet would have been as part of a two up top, but we rarely played that way.

Reality is we had a 11/12k hardcore that has now become 8k. The club seem to have meekly accepted this as have a lot of that hardcore, the future is very grim indeed and those who scoff at it i assume will be happy to pay a lot more next season to cover it ? -

Unfortunately the "turn the taps off" protest wasn't in flow yesterday. Blackburn End concourse was busy at half time yesterday with pints and food on show all over. Also the boycott suggestion, I asked a couple of folk around me what they thought of it and they laughed and said not a chance. "I miss some games anyway I'm not being told to miss one that I can make" was a comment made to me. Unfortunately as a fanbase I dont think we are anywhere near the "official boycott" stage. -

If word is spread that some work has been done without them having to actually do anything then they (Pasha/Gestede or whoever the hell is this weeks "head of operations") will be absolutely bloomin delighted! My reaction is that it was cutting up - IF any work has been done then i would suggest it would have been minor vertical aeration with knives. Looked a bit similar to a golf course after that operation and it will cut up more in the short term but will only help with draining providing there isn't a compacted layer underneath or the actual drains are insufficient/partially blocked Cost - a few quid or 2 places in a VIP box for a local greenkeeper - Today

Pitch looked a bit heavy and was cutting up which actually looked like it suited us. No signs of anything other than normal 'work' done on it though. -
Maybe, which I suppose shows contempt for the fans, who paid and therefore contributed their bit to the club.

No!....and yet, sometimes they deliver a Szmodics or a Baradji. However, my argument would be that this shames them even more. It seems that they could get decent signings, but actually choose not to... I still haven't recovered from the insult that was last January's window! -

Sorry to reply to my own post. My assumption about the context of the remark was wrong. I agree with you, @SIMON GARNERS 194. -
I think in terms of skill tbh. For me, Archer’s form has been a plus in this series and I’m glad he’s back. He, Stokes and Root are the ones who emerge with any credit this Ashes, for me.

or maybe they were just told to hint at work possibly having been done? So that nobody can accuse lies coming from those in charge (this time at least) -
I watched the game on Rovers TV from my home in Spain. I found it a bit strange on commentary that it was stated that it looked like the pitch had benefited from some work being done on it. I don’t know if it has or not, but given that the supporters who watch the game that way have all paid a subscription and it is Rovers own channel, why were the commentators not told either way, so that they could pass this on to the fans? Surely it isn’t a secret.
