Valérien Ismaël: Blackburn Rovers Head Coach

We lost a lot of players in the summer but not enough to be seeing performances like this for almost the entire season. Other teams have their injuries too and can handle them. The core of the team is not performing under this manager and he's enabling terrible player recruitment. He's part of the problem and needs to go. -

I’m about to lose faith in VI after that performance. Incredible that Henriksson was handed another start upfront. -

Terrible manager. He doesn’t have a clue how to turn this around tactically. Just sticking to the same system week in and week out because he hasn’t a clue how to fix it and making no attempt to. Of course, we don’t have the best squad in the league, far from it, but it would be nice to see some sort of fight from the players. They look defeated before a ball has been kicked. You need your manager to lift you, to get the side fired up, so they have the belief they can go and get a result, but he just comes across so negative and lacks any personality. It didn’t help conceding so early today, but watch his reaction, he doesn’t try to motivate the team, instead just turns his back to the pitch. What message does that send? Players like Tronstad who have given their all for this club now look beaten and disinterested. A pure reflection of his managers demeanour. We desperately need a run of good results and that’s not going to happen under VI. Players look at rock bottom. -

Axel Henriksson and Dion De Neve, would not be at any other Championship club. They're playing at the wrong level completely. It's ludicrous they're involved. -

That's the irony of it. All those clamouring for change and calling the situation out for what it is are branded 'negative'. Yet those who suggest we can expect no better are, in effect, far more negative about the situation yet think they possess the moral high ground. -

My prediction is that 'they' will sit back and do absolutely nothing until relegation is confirmed. Then when word gets back to India about another relegation delivered and another £10 million hole in the coffers it will be Gestede and Owen who get the blame at that point and are axed. Dogsbody Suhail will survive though ready to deliver the next incarnation in League One. I don't think they'll try the laptop / continental approach next time, instead it will be academy focus and probably Johnson left to oversee it, knowing full well he'll get patience from the remaining fans due to his background, but most importantly he will be the cheap option again. Another about turn on projects will of course take time to offload the dross Rudy has saddled us with but we like the 'churn' at Ewood with a revolving door of staff and players. All helps towards the '£20 million a year' needed. -

Of course we can do better and after today I think he should go My issue is it will still be Gestede ,Owen and Pasha picking the next guy so can we really expect much better to be brought in? The replacement will still have to read from the same script as Ismael and it will be a similar desperado like Karanka or they will gamble on Vignal from the under 23s. Gestede and Owen should be out the door with him. They chose him and they have led the way with this data led approach to a raft of cheap and shit signings. Any owner with any interest in "their" club would be asking serious fucking questions be surprised if ours even know we are a point outside the bottom 3 -

Always a bad sign when a manager keeps putting the emphasis bad refereeing decisions. Ismael does it every week. Pure deflection. As if we've won that game otherwise. We're is serious trouble. -

Valérien Ismaël: Blackburn Rovers Head Coach
JHRover replied to DE.'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
So predictably it seems there is a clique of people out there who are against removing Ismael because 'we wouldn't / couldn't get anyone better' and the usual challenges to people to name options who would realistically come here and do a better job than Ismael in these circumstances. It's more or less the same rationale people come out with for not calling for Venkys out, because they've convinced themselves that there's no other owner or group in the world who could bring more to the party than Venkys. Suggesting those clamouring for a Regime change should first name who would be interested in buying Rovers (of course that's impossible). So presumably then we are just supposed to sit back and enjoy the ride, unable to change anything about the rotten ownership and management of the club because we are the only club in the world that cannot attract new or better ownership or management. It seems part of this is based on prospective managers / owners not going into the media and declaring an interest in Rovers. Such a shame that some people are so negative in their view of Rovers and performance of the club that there is such insistence that this is the best we can hope for. Just accept it and get on with your life. I almost wish I could have such an attitude but I can't. You see in professional support that sort of attitude is unacceptable. There is always a way to improve and get better and you should never accept failure no matter what the causes. -
Saw on social media that Leonard was taken to hospital today after a nasty head injury but the lad has posted himself that he's okay 🤞

In a way it's refreshing to hear a manager speak his mind so openly (regarding Glasner's post match comments), but on the other hand... I don't know if that's going to endear him to many chairmen. I'm not sure how many clubs would be comfortable bringing in a manager who may lash out at the board if decisions are made that he doesn't agree with. I had a gander on the Palace forum and their fans don't seem to be too pleased with Glasner's conduct - and that's putting it mildly.

One from today, at a club that’s seen tough times, but has come out of the other side. Keep the faith, our time will come again.
