  1. Past hour
  2. Isn't it the Venky effect that's to blame?
  3. To be honest it's not a phrase I ever actually use myself - although plenty of other Valley people do!
  4. I heard on national news some sink holes appeared in Darwen due to the heavy rain crazy times up north
  5. That's not how the Venturi effect works. Flow in = Flow out Putting the pipe on an angle does nothing to change the hydraulic head pressure. I explained all of this the last time we had a game called off for a waterlogged pitch.
  6. Today
  7. It’s not an option though and I’m sure other clubs in the league would baulk at that solution anyway.
  8. Could we super soak the pitch next time it rains a bit
  9. Be careful “for us tea” and things like “catch us bus” is dingle talk
  10. Chippy on gally estate does them so does the one up Knuzden.
  11. Just going back on topic, I’m surprised nobody has had a pop at the morons who sit openly in JW Stand. Fans are allowed to voice opinions and berating the stooges for 90mins seems like a good use of time to me. I don’t condone violence of course, but calling them a bunch of: ******* ****** **** for 90 mins is all in the game for me. Direct action required.
  12. The club fighting out corner 😂 good one.
  13. They are very simple valves with little to no maintenance, and can be manufactured to fit any diameter of pipe.
  14. Well I’m glad the club is fighting our corner as it’s clear a few fans on here certainly wouldn’t if they were in a position to.
  15. Mm, that’s a much more sophisticated valve than any I ever worked on. Basically the ones I worked on were designed just to prevent water flowing back up the out flow pipe.
  16. What I find most extraordinary about the whole farce is the immediate (factual) pointing to the river levels as if that absolves us of all responsibility for our own ground. Random football fan/website - "What a joke that Championship Blackburn can't keep their pitch drained in this day and age!" Ultra-defensive Rovers fan - "I think you'll find it's not our fault because river levels..." This argument completely ignores the absurd point that our drainage system will only work during those periods when rain is not heavy enough to fill a small river. Now it could have cost us valuable points. Just perhaps we need a new system. Wonder if they'll stump the necessary cash...
  17. A non return valve allows flow in only one direction. It is at work all the time, It never shuts off flow from the ground to the river, but does not allow a flow from the river to the ground. The venturi effect of the positioning of the outlet allows for the flow into the river, when the river level is above the outlet.
  18. The problem seems to be getting the water into the river when the river level is too high. It would seem obvious to install a sump with a pump(s) close to the river and pump it over the top when needed.
  19. The cost (positionally/points wise) isn't an issue, the opportunity to bring another 4K+ away support is a financial bonus for SuFail. A moral victory for the players but the Ipswich players will be having a better night than our lads. Sickener.
  20. I thought our match performance was very good, players playing to tactical plan. was surprised when Ismael went to back 3 against 10 men Wharton was excellent and Cantwell led the team again. Toth is such a good keeper and showing us all why we were wrong to write him off like I did so I'm pleased he proved me wrong.
  21. Frustrating as would have been a promising result and put us in a good league position. Lots to play for ofc but a big game to win. Guaranteed to lose replay
  22. Very surprised how defensive City went so early in the game. Wouldn't have taken Haaland off at all. Thought Pep got that wrong. Pep is building a different type of team with less focus on possession and better transition team I thought Arteta picked the wrong starting eleven cos I would have picked Eze in place of Merino and Martinelli for Trossard
