I've always understood that you're not supposed to end a half whilst a team is actively engaged in an attack. Noticed how you never see a fulltime whistle blown when somebody is about to strike the ball? I don't know if it's a written rule or an unwritten one, but when I was a kid I was told it was a rule.

Clearly shouldn't have been played in this one. As I said before the game there is no way I would have done anything other than rested him. And it seems I was justified in that as he apparently played shit, and they lost anyway.

I'm feeling, glad all over.

Valérien Ismaël: Blackburn Rovers Head Coach
JHRover replied to DE.'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
We all know that nothing significant will happen to the pitch even in the summer. By significant I mean more than the annual essential relaying which happens at every club, every summer and will have already been budgeted for. I'm talking serious infrastructure replacement - Isn't going to happen no matter how 'unhappy' the owners are claimed to be. Pretty much everything there about and from Ismael could have been written in 2017 shortly after Mowbray came in. Literally nothing has changed from 'nice family bloke' being transparent with the fans, plans for the squad that won't be realised, project talk, jam tomorrow. It's a road to nowhere (or should I say League One). Ismael is but a small footnote in a decades long horror story, so I don't blame him for coming out with all this sort of stuff. Some of it may well be genuine. But we've seen and heard it all before, it won't last, it can't under this lot. -
Isn't it? What is then?
-
Correct. Everything attached to them is indefinite.
-
Not the best examples to be honest as with exception of Exeter having the biggest day out of their lives the other are big/huge fanbase clubs who fill allocations most weeks. They could often take a lot more but don't get the tickets until cup rules allow. I think a look at home fan turnouts across the weekend will tell the real story and even then there are often big ticket discounts to take into consideration. I doubt there'll be 20k at Hull City tomorrow.
-
This is the problem for me, just how indefinite everything is. It's already been "a long time", you're talking as if it starts on Saturday. They won't be forced out, of that I'm certain.
-
As in not a long time.
-
How do you define short term?
-
Never back down especially for no good reason. With that being said (besides rare exceptions) this is my last post on the forum because it's been a waste of 20 years outside my five ban periods. Today is the final irrefutable proof with this gutless decision to back down on something that was 100% justified. All you have done is alienated people who wanted to protect what's left of Jack's desecrated legacy. That being said perhaps he would have regretted leaving one to begin with. Especially his family.
-
Because most of them are simpletons. "How dare they use an image of Jack Walker! How disrespectful! Now where's my Total Wicked kit?"
-
Sooner or later , they will have to open the books to prospective owners or administors.
-
That wasn't the point though was it ?
-
I think Sutton beat Coventry, same day has Rovers played at Welling , might be wrong! Not far apart Sutton and Welling..
-
I wish it was as simple as this & that the empirical evidence backed up this argument.

The January 2026 Transfer Window

They remain convinced that big crowds under this lot would automatically mean better players, wages payable and form. Somehow they chose to miss the rather obvious correlation that wages cuts, player sales, doubling of losses and managed decline began the min they took over with gates of 25k and Prem/Parachute income. Ok a lot are too young to remember or maybe grasp these very basic facts but the others ... ? They are in their own world of denial for some reason. -

if you get rid of players because you won`t pay them the going rate then replace them with ones who arn`t as good ,you will go down the leagues,it matters not if the crowd is 30000 or 300,i can`t understand why some of our fans can`t see the fact that venkys have continually dismanted the playing staff from the moment they arrived -

Yet half our own fanbase remain oblivious to or just shrug the shoulders 'well if everyone turned up every week..' type stuff. Well they did didn't they for the first few years of this bollocks and it didn't make a jot of difference. -

Behaved badly, bowled badly, fielded badly, batted badly, prepared badly, organised badly, managed badly...yet still people make excuses for the pathetic results. I'm not sure what folk don't understand. Try acting like that in your own job, putting in a succession of below par work shy performances, a few short days / lazy weeks and wander in stinking of booze. Cry about it on here when you lose your employment. In the meantime, Crawley averaging 27, Duckett 20, Pope 20, Stokes 18 and Smith 23 are the main reason we lost the ashes. Useless. We gave the bowlers no respite or rest and nothing at all to bowl at. Duckett averaged 16 until the final test. Crawley out four times for a duck. Average opening partnership of 20.I'm not sure what folk don't understand. Bethal has come in with zero experience, scored over 200 runs averaging over 50. There's absolutely nothing to lose with a more professional approach to international cricket and a total re-set. Our vice captain / white ball captain is out getting pissed the night before an ODI. Good old Brendan removed the 12 oclock player curfew. Everyone drunk mid-series in Noosa. One x 3 day game in preperation against a lions team. Wood hadn't bowled since February. Archer no fitness for a five match series, only lasted 3 tests as they were so short. Somehow Stokes limped across the finish line. Three of Australias main bowlers sidelined. Half their top six batsmen struggling. Robert Key stated we had been at 20% of our abilities. They have beaten us easily with four players. All Bazball has achieved is to alienate the average cricket fan, damage a number of younger players, propogate a disrespectful drinking culture and stagnate us at the highest level. If i've ever got to watch Crawley and Duckett opening the batting for England again im going to go mental. Help! I'm not sure what folk don't understand. -
In my experience we usually bottle it in front of a big crowd, outside of the glory years, especially away from home.

Think I'll wait till the lineups are out before I decide whether or not to watch. A few debutants from the academy might make it a bit more interesting, otherwise I'm not sure I'll bother. I do want to go through purely in hope of a decent tie next round to add a bit of interest to the season.
